- Turns out my radical take wasn't as radical as I thought, but still, please enjoy this review of this amazing, atmospheric album.
@dijon
Skye's Stamp (Homework) - • Dijon - Big Mike's (Live)
This album is incredible. The first time I listened to Big Mike’s (the live UA-cam version) was an emotional one and I had to stop what I was doing. It’s stunningly beautiful.
I agree so hard about Rodeo Clown vocals. When he cries "You're missin' out!", It's heart breaking!
Professor! You have the coolest taste! Found you through hippo campus and now you are reviewing another one of my favorite artists! This album is one of my favorites of the year! Word on the street is that Dijon is releasing a short film to coincide with this project.
Professor,
A baritone guitar is a guitar that just has a different range of notes. That range can be like a major third/perfect fourth/fifth lower than your usual E tunning… so, basically, it sounds like it has more body to it, you know (baritone guitars are also bigger)…
Also, guess who Mk.Gee (guitarist) reminds me of…
John Frusciante! He plays as little and as many notes as needed (specially in the 7-minute live performance that has totally grasped me)…
Yeah, that’s it, great album,
Anthony
sooo FUCKING happy youre reviewing this album. it gave me a feeling i havent felt since frank oceans endless. excited to listen to the review brother
That mustard story made me smash the like bucket, another great review of an amazing album!
it's breath-taking, it's so refreshing to hear something that just sounds... new, and so objectively worth being made
I love this album and love when someone breaks stuff down that moves me. More people need to talk about and share great things! I didn’t grow up listening to a lot of the bands you mentioned that this album borrowed inspiration from but I will be doing lots of digging because it’s such a sweet sound! Great video
love this album! The artist on guitar in the live videos is Mk.Gee, and his music is excellent too. Give it a listen if you have the chance, cheers professor!
Tripped across this album two days ago and I’m so happy I did. I found Dijon in 2019 with Nico’s Red Truck but I never followed up with him really since then. Man is this album incredible and refreshing. I hope Dijon and Mk.gee work more together
I love the passion you bring to this review! Such a good album!
I’m 45 and still finding good music. Your video was recommended after watching Dijon’s film. And I know about every artist you mentioned. You have good taste in music
I love your videos and this is one of my favorite albums of all time and I’m so happy these two things clashed!!! FOR 20 MINUTES!!!
So happy that you reviewed this one of my faves this year
love this album, thanks for reviewing it! u are the best
this album is simply phenomenal. nothing less. on a side note man i wish i had you for a professor. i’d try and spend most the time discussing music with you.
I’m thrilled that I’ve seen so many people over the past year enjoying this album! I absolutely love it myself and I’m excited to see where Dijon goes moving forward.
I listened to Absolutely almost 2 weeks ago. It was refreshing! I enjoy playing music and play music with my friends here and there. Listening and watching the live Absolutely film brings memories of those times when everyone in that moment is on that wave and riding that music wave together..much like a lucid dream.. Usually not recorded Lol. But Dijon and band got it captured very well.
Man I love your reviews, keep up the good work, much love from Chile! Dijon and Mk.gee are geniuses! You should definitely give a listen to Mk.Gee the guitarist who is featuring in this album, he is amazing!
this is my first time watching your channel and im so happy you listened to this record!! dijon is my favorite artist of all time and is still devastatingly underrated. you should definitely check out all of his other projects. this is without a doubt my favorite album of the year.
What other projects does he have? Is there maybe anything that you know that I won’t find on his page on Spotify/Apple Music? I’ve found him because of “absolutely” and it’s struck me! Who he is? Why he is like that? WTF? He’s like Shia Labeouf in music ❤️🔥
@@prometain this is late but he has stuff on his soundcloud under his name and under Abhi//Dijon
I've known Dijon since few days and I haven't listened to the whole album yet but I'm overwhelmed by music as much by the energy he has. Stunning. My album of the year is The Villagers - Fever Dreams and I'm very fond to hear your review and review of one the best rock albums of 2020 which is underrated IMHO James Dean Bradfield - Even In Exile.
Been listening to this album for the last few days and I must say, it's one of my favorite albums in quite a while, but please, don't label him the next Bob Dylan. It's the kiss of death. You don't know how many times I've heard that in the last 5 decades. I did hear Bon Iver in his voice. He's got a style all his own. I know what you mean by the looseness in the playing though.Very nice album. Was your title click bait ? Naw.... ( Gee, you know your Dijon mustard )
absolutely is such a beautiful album. i’m so glad you liked it
Loved this album, it is definitely helping me get through my midterms, great review!!!
This was probably my favourite album that has come out this year! I would love to see you cover dltzk’s new album, “Frailty” :))
Thank you for putting me on to tonight’s the night my Neil young always loved his music never heard that album
Great review!
To me this feels like modern Blues music. Obviously this is a very LA project but it feels so much like the wild west like Texas or Arizona.
WE DID IT
We did it🗣️
one of the most beautiful albums i have ever heard the emotion in these songs is unreal
let's not forgot the cover of Sweet Thing they do is incredible
Such a good take
I can't stop listening to this album. I've listened to his album so much my girlfriend gets annoyed when I play it or occasionally sing random lyrics throughout the day.
love your videos, i would highly recommend the album gelato by boylife. if you enjoyed dijon i think you would enjoy this one as well. would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Yes, baritone guitar is a thing. Tuned usually down to B (or A if dropped)
Not everyday you hear somebody say Planet Waves is their favorite Dylan album(I love it myself don't get me wrong). Either way, my friend recommended this Dijon album a couple days ago and I've been obsessed since. The Dress absolutely killed me I love that song so much.
Did you see that Hippo Campus released a new song and they're going to release the full EP in March?
YES THANK YOU, dIjon is the MAN.
At 22 yrs old I’ve loved Bob Dylan for a long time and when I heard dijons album the first thought I had was literally comparing the two artists that’s why I click on this video haha
Nice intro course to baritone guitar….Mike Lettieri. He plays bari for the Fearless Flyers of Vulfpeck fame. He also has a bunch of vids on his channel of him playing funk on a baritone guitar. Worth a listen if you’re not already familiar.
professor, what are your thoughts on Nekfeu?
Could you please review Aesop Rock x Blockhead "Garbology". Love the work you're doing, prof.
I did not exect this and now I need popcorn
Pareil l'ami
the drummer michael gordon is an artist named mk.gee! he makes great music as well
Hey professor. You might like the band Uncle Reno
Dijon has said almost all the lyrics online are wrong...
You are so cool
You should review Baby Rose's To Myself. I bring her up because you said James Blake and Dijon had voices that moved you, and her voice definitely will. Think Billie Holiday or Tracy Chapman.
dijon has said himself the album was heavily influenced by the band, he even went to a house in upstate new york to finish the latter half of the album after he had some writers block
If you enjoyed Mike's drumming you may enjoy his work under Mk.Gee.
I was thinking modern day Astral Weeks!
I don't know the reason for the comparison to Dylan, is it the inventive nature? Because they don't sound similar to me. *Robin Pecknold Is the next Bob Dylan.* I will die on that hill!
Nothing to do with the review, and honestly I feel like this won’t fit your taste at all, but if you listened to “Because I’m Young, Arrogant and Hate Everything You Stand For,” by machine girl and made a video on it that would be absolutely incredible
More like the new Joe Cocker imho
