    Amazing props and jets!
Me: "Here's a picture of a Cennsa 172 and a 747. Which one's the prop and which one's the jet."
This person: "Oh my gosh that's so easy, the Cessna 172 is the jet and the 747 is the prop! Why are you asking questions that everyone already knows the answers to?
Me: "What makes you so sure?!"
This person: "Well I was thinking that propellers are more powerful than jet engines which is why they're used on big planes like the 747 and it's also why they're used on huge ships but they only work well at low speeds so planes like the 747 are rather sluggish. Jet engines aren't as powerful so only small planes like the Cessna 172 have jet engines but jet engines work better at higher speeds than propellers so small planes like the Cessna 172 can fly a lot faster... right Chris?"
Me "Excuse me but the Cessna 172 flies at 180 mph while the 747 flies at 720 mph! You might want to rethink you're reasoning!"

@@stevensaviationspotting So okay, I've told about how I hear people say stuff like "only fighter planes and private planes including Cessna 172s are jets while all large planes like the 777 and A380 are props" and "passenger planes like the A320 have ducted fan engines where the fan is a propeller whereas *true* jet engines are only used in military planes and private planes (so the E-175 is just an ATR-72 whose propellers are shrouded)" and that "jets are fundamentally smaller than props" *but I have a confession to make...*
Whenever I hear someone say something along those lines, sure it makes me chuckle because we both know just how wrong they are but it also greatly frustrates and saddens me. Why? Because those same exact untrue facts and misguided logic are now being taught in schools to young kids. I didn't learn ANY of what I currently know about aviation in school when I was a youngster but I was *correctly* and *accurately* taught about airplanes and I was taught the truth about what they are and how they operate (mostly by my parents before I was old enough to research the topic by myself and learn more about it on my own). Though this was in the mid-late 2000s back when education was still at least somewhat decent. But education has deteriorated since then until now we're teaching our youth falsehoods while thus *not* teaching them how to think or reason properly so future generations may be even more intellectually confused than today's generations. I'm most likely getting *WAY* too worked up about this but I can't help but feel extreme sorrow for how our society has gone downhill... how do you feel about that and what do you that? If it's too much for you *I'm sorry* and I hope you can somehow forgive me!😥
