Dog treat recipe - Grain free no bake cake

🎂My boy is now 1 year old… Time have gone pasted so quickly !!! 🎂
Since most of the online cake recipes are baked so I decided to make a steamed #grainfreerecipe for Kumo. The look of this cake was inspired by the traditional Japanese strawberry sponge cake. I am very pleased that the icing is coming out really well with the cake colour contrast. 🥰
This recipe is using a 10.5 cm round cake tin which is kind of the size of my hand.
🥦 For the vegetables, you can always substitute it with others such as sweet potato, butternut squash, green bean and beetroot etc… As long as the ingredients are dog safe! 🐕 🐕 🐕
🥩 I won't recommend using red meat for the cake as this will affect the colour outcome a lot but turkey would be a great second choice if your dog is allergic to chicken.

Hi! Just wanted wanted to let you know that I made this today & it turned out SO WELL.
Did minor changes (due to lack of ingredients). Swapped out strawberries for watermelons. Went full on chicken minced meat + carrots. For icing only used greek yogurt and honey.
Dog thoroughly enjoyed it!

In my country we boil the broccoli before eating it and the chicken as well (that's mean that we don't feed the dogs raw chicken) would this affect the recipe? If it does, what can I do??

Personally I think you can try using mash potatoes! I saw other tutorials where they coated the cake with mash potato acting like its buttercream 🤣

Yes. We have done it too 😆
Kept a few slices in the freezer and take them out to consume a few weeks later still yummy for the pooch 🍰

I would suggest to use tapioca flour/ buckwheat as alternative as never used normal flour. I hope it’s not too late and happy birthday to your pooch !

Semi harden. It’s not frosting for biscuit but more of a sticky icing texture

Turkey would be a great alternative!White fish such as cod alway works well with colourful vegs. Just make sure tour dog try all the ingredients first and don’t have allergy before using them☺️

I would say yes for the cake ! However you might want to test and see how long and what temperature you need to get the chicken fully cooked

Hi, except the topping the cake is only chicken & veg so it’s safe to feed young puppy in moderated amount. However with the topping ingredients I would suggest always wait till around 5-6 months then let your dog try all the ingredients individually before assemble them together as a treat to minimise the rise of food allergic reaction. If you have concern I would suggest speaking to your vet to reconfirm ☺️

What can I sub for cream cheese?
What you can do is curdle milk and whisk the cheese that you get real hard with a hand mixer or blender. To curdle the milk you just have to heat it bring it to a boil and add anything acidic like lemon or vinegar.

Doctors warn us on consuming raw cookie dough or cake dough due to contaminations. Vet warns us about feeding our dogs with raw flour, you did not cook the sweet potato flour, added to yogurt for deco. As much as I love all the natural ingredients but you lost me at that one. Sorry.
