Watched these videos originally when I was in middle school and have recently stumbled back upon. I was really fortunate to run into woodys corner of the internet as a kid, can’t begin to explain how much his advice improved my life looking back. I doubt he reads these now but woody is the man, and I’m sure I’m not the only young dude he positively influenced
You should put this on VHS tapes, this legit looks like a it's from the 80's with the angle and everything. It's a great video I don't mean to sound dismissive or anything.
I've been a fan since the MW3 days, and my god you've been a really reliable source of advice as I grow out of adolescence. Really, the content you have in Woody Wednesday is legitimately what I loved the most about your channel. Please keep up the great work!
Ohhhhh that intro... Sooo many memories And even in this video woody fixes his hair, nice shirt, good lighting, game of thrones chair yet he still wears shorts LOL love ya woody
I think your timing on these videos couldn't have been more perfect. This is the time of year where most of your audience (who used to be 12) are now graduating and deciding on their futures. Really looking forward to the next ones!
If that's a fireplace back there, you should have it going for the classy effect, and it would also double as your notecard disposal. It'd be amusing watching you throw them in there.
Dang woody. You hit it right on the head. You knew that we're growing up and video games are just a nuisance in a way now. All these years and now we're here!
I have to say, I really loved this and it really helped me. I am a senior with not much of a clue to do and this really made me think and see how I am going to choose my career. Thank you man really liking this change in videos been a sub since MW3 I think.
I happen to go to a technical school so every other week we have an entire week of learning a trade. I am taking the electrical courses. I'm 3 years into it and love it. I have a burning passion to learn things electrical. In mass electricians in the union can make upwards of 100,00 a year. I don't want to toot my own horn but as far as I can tell I am within the top students in my class. So far this is my plan in life since I have a serious passion for it and feel as if I will enjoy for a long time.
Career as an incel = workcel your entire life, 50+ hours a week, studying for qualifications in your spare time, in the vain hope that your steadily increasing salary will get you laid, despite your subhuman looks and your youth slipping away. Career as a slayer = effortlessly land a well-paid job straight out of college thanks to your connections, people skills, and good looks. Become the boss / manager of the incels you used to bully at high school If you're not a slayer from birth just end it tbh
Hey Woody I felt compelled to comment on this one. You're advice isn't the overly optimistic or cynical. It's down to earth and even inspiring. Thank you.
Woody, I love these videos. They're really helping, especially at this very moment since I'm planning on changing majors because I realized this past week exactly what you said in this video! Keep them coming, they're great.
I've watched this like three times over the years... Now I just need to find the beginning of the pie wedge that I can live with. I really can't stand any of the jobs I've had.
Been watching you since sophomore year in hs now I'm a sophomore in college top 5% of my school and I agree with you 100%., ever since day one. I think this is what you wanted to say explicitly, " Don't be a fool by overrating yourself and dropping everything over this naïve idea" the great majority of people aren't special so what makes you? That's what I was thinking through this video, I like the way you think, we think alike I think in a way you helped me shape the way I see life.
Love the new camera angle, less claustrophobic. I think I rethink of the writing down thing might be good. It's good that it reinforces the gravitas of the new aspect of the discussion but it kind of, just for a second disrupts the flow. Maybe an onscreen graphic or have it pre-written down and just show it to the camera? Just a thought! Loving having you back making vids! Keep it up
The point about "betting on yourself only if you're a good bet" hit home for me. I spent my high school years at a grammy-winning arts school in their vocal program because I've wanted to be a professional musician since I was 12. All throughout that time, I was told by many people the shit you'd expect. "You have a great gift!" "You should continue to pursue this!" etc. etc. These people seemed to believe in me and my ability to succeed as a vocalist. Unfortunately, shortly after I turned 18, I realized that I didn't believe in myself at all. Deciding you want to be a musician is a serious gamble. Either you make boatloads of money and live a great and eventful life or you don't make jack shit. I don't think I'm the right fit to be a "star", and I don't want to make just $30k a year. I want to be able to make $100k a year after 10 years. So I decided I'd go with Computer Science and that's what I'm pursuing now, although I'm afraid that I'll lose the spark I have for programming and understanding computers.
Woody thank you so much for this video, I am at the point in my life where I need to decide on a specific path and I will take your advice into consideration throughout my decision process. Keep making videos love the channel lately!
Yeah was thinking that. The summary of the video was really either be really unhappy in your job or be unhappy in your job and live with it. Isn't there a career where you can be happy?
+OMGItsDatBanana there are but it is a bit more to do with your employer than the job I think. Oftentimes your employers don't operate in your interest, meaning that once they find something you excel in, they will often try to keep you in that realm for as long as possible. These leads to less and less diverse tasks that you can do over time. For the most part, stable salaried jobs will become monotonous over time.
Future President of the United States in the making. I'm only sixteen and I already know two governors and one Mayor. I am currently serving on a commission for the Mayors office. I have a hell of a long road ahead of me but I am prepared!
Newlon In most cases yes. Politicians like Lyndon Johnson and Andrew Johnson were both horrible politicians. Robert F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan were amazing politically speaking.
I'm in my senior year of college and trying to choose between two job offers right now. Also getting married in May and I'm taking on some student loan debt of my fiancé, so loved the marriage and debt topics as well. Thanks for the advice man!
I love the wedge (awesome analogy)! My wedge didn't work out, social work too law enforcement to framing... but that's alright! The other thing about not betting on yourself for a long shot job is that it doesn't make you a failure to not go for the long shot job. love the advice!
Such real talk! I'm at year 8 in my career and I'm feeling that, "why am I here" feeling! I'm working on another passion, but you know, I loved my career 8 (or more) years ago and it's not horrible now. I can't imagine how awful things would be had I only tolerated it back then.
Been subbed since Mail Monday for these kind of videos. I'm in a position where I need to pick my next education choice (University, Apprenticeship, etc) and this video was really useful. Keep up the good work man.
looking back on these videos makes me feel like you're my cool internet dad.
This is a much better camera angle and lighting. Great video!
+Enrique Gallardo I fully reserve the right to go back to the "girl streaming on twitch" camera angle if I want to. lol #CleavageCam
+WoodysGamertag the "about to get finished on" cam. lol great vid love the effort.
+WoodysGamertag HannahMinxGamertag
+WoodysGamertag We need a #CalfCam. Camera on the floor facing up, with a great view of your calves. Might get age-gated though.

Better angle, better lighting! Great video Woody! Can the next one be about taxes and such? I'm closing in on that worry...
+Peanut Yes! please talk about taxes and perhaps living on a tight budget.
+Peanut same man, April will be my first time having to do my taxes.

I love that you've listened to feedback and actually improved your content. Great video Woody
If that's a fireplace back there, you should have it going for the classy effect, and it would also double as your notecard disposal. It'd be amusing watching you throw them in there.
Well done again, mate! Loving this series!
One of your best videos Woody.

Badass card throwing
The card throwing caught me off guard ahah
