- Hey All! This is the second Susanne Sundfør song I have heard, and this was amazing, and beautiful. Also sad and dripping with a sense of hopelessness, but the beauty in this is undeniable.
I've not heard of this artist before, but I loved this song...I had my eyes closed during the first listen, but had to see her for the live performance...absolutely beautiful..the last part sounded to me like a child's music box, a flash back to happier times
A lament for the oldest profession and a damnation of the sex trade. That's what this song is about .Fortunately, there are artists who write about topics almost no one else does. SUSANNE IS A GENIUS!
I love the live version, her voice is so beautiful...
Susannes voice always gives me goosebumps, her tone reaches my soul. Flawless. The song Undercover, live version is beautiful :) Also White Foxes off video :)
Thanks 🙏 Susanne Sundfør
is one of ours treasure - she makes no compromise with her music - never ❤️❤️❤️
Another amazing norwegian artist. When I heard this one the first time I was instantly hooked. You should check out White Foxes by her - amazing video too!
Definitely white foxes
Other songs by/featuringher worth checking: White Foxes live at the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Her collaboration with Röyksopp on Running to the sea, live or album version. Her collaboration with M83 for the Oblivion soundtrack theme. There's a good live version from an american tonight show, can't remember which one.
BIG YES!!!!! To both songs!!!
The Oblivion performance was on Jimmy Kimmel show. Mezmerizing to say the least.
@@peterliddle4546 Yes, that's what it was. A wonderful performance to say the least.
My favorite version of this songs is "Liva At Parkteatret". Her voice on that performance will send shivers down your spine.
Keep exploring her music, she's amazing. My recommendations:
- The Silicone Veil (Live Skavlan 2012)
- White Foxes
- The Amorous Humphrey Plugg (live on BBC proms)
- Röyksopp & Susanne Sundfør - Ice Machine (Depeche Mode cover) Live on Lydverket
- M83 & Susanne Sundfør - Oblivion
- Undercover (live)
- Mountaineers (featuring John Grant)
- Röyksopp & Susanne Sundfør - Never Ever
- The Sound of War (Live at Spellemann)
- No One Believes In Love Anymore
- Memorial
- When
- Röyksopp & Susanne Sundfør - Running To The See Live on Lydverket
Amazing reaction Yeedeed. The ear of your heart do really hear. Susannes perfomence with her song "Undercover" live at the stoller hall in black and white is also a treat.
Thank you Einar! I always appreciate you checking in on my videos. I will definitely add this to the list
That was such a sweet reaction. You seemed genuinely surprised that her voice is the same good live as for her studio version. It really is 😊. The brothel is both the name of this particular song and also for the album. This album from 2010 was her second. I bought them at the time. Susanne was nominated at several different awards in various categories and this album got her two awards (Spellemannprisen = which in English is refered to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards. And another award called Edvard-prisen). Susanne has won the "Spellemannprisen" in various categories five times (e.g. as the producer of the year, album of the year and popartist of the year with album "Ten Love Songs"). She could possibly have won some more in 2011 for her 2010 album, as she cancelled her candidate for the category called "the best female artist" for her album The Brothel, in protest that there was such a category distinguishing female and male artists. She had been awarded as the best female artist for her first album from 2007 (awarded in 2008) a few years earlier. And I suppose she would've repeted that with such a great album unless stepping back. I remember this very well. The following year of her protest in 2011, the categories "the best male artist" and "the best female artist" was removed from the Spellemannprisen award and has not been reintroduced. Other of her albums has got her awards, such as the Nordic Music Prize in 2018 for her album "Music for people in trouble" from 2017, which is another fabulous album worth listening to. 🎶😊
Its crazy to think of all the talents and fantastic artists there are out there who doesnt get the recognition, respect and attention they deserve (just in Norway we have a lot of fantastic artists who never will be heard by most people in the world). At the same time artists who doesnt write their own songs or can sing very well are topping the charts and àre world wide famous. Its not easy being an artist from smaller countries. They have to work thousand of times harder than those from fex North America or the UK if they want to make it outside of their country, or they need the right connections. Susanne should have been a world star.
she is a genius, the queen of dark melancholic songs. her voice can be very soft, but also in times sharp as a knife - and stays in your head for ever. what i really like on your reaction videos is that you work with the lyrics. great reaction.
this live version is my absolute favorite of her. it's so beautiful. "turkish delight" from the same session is also a killer!
and thanks that you got into it, i highly appreciate it! i love watching how people falll in love with her. that's kind of a mission of mine.
Susanne is just an absolute treasure. I’ve seen her live twice. Both magnificent shows, but completely different in every possible way. The first one was after the release of her Ten Love Songs album, and it was just a huge party. Up tempo, pumping electronic music. A blast from start to finish. The second show was in a beautiful classical concert hall with music more like this song. Lots of piano and just intimate ethereal songs. I don’t think any of the songs from the first show were played at the second one. She’s just so versatile and a true artist.
Wow, what an awesome lane you're going down! Subbed👌🏽
❤️❤️❤️ I have been so lucky to see her live 3 times. And her live shows are magical. Thank you for reacting 🥰
One of the most beautiful voices of the modern age. Her "live" version of this song is even better! She is an absolutely AMAZING singer/songwriter/musician.
Best Norwegians artist. And she's so versatile!! You should do Reincarnation - live. Please. ❤
pls Do!
yes!!! Reincarnation is a bit reminiscent of Leonard Cohen
So magical 🤩🤩🥰🥰
Suzanne Sundfør, THE LORD, is soo good❤❤
you'll find it in the reaction videos ;)
Wow thank you for thinking of me (idarovu). This is such a beautiful and dark song.
Also a great reaction❤ I hope you will continue to discover Susanne. Her album "10 love songs" is really sooo good! Good luck on your musical journey✨
beautiful sad
As a night shift taxi driver long ago I delivered so many women of the night to their Johns and spent nights talking about life and lost hope in the magic hours between 3 am to dawn...
That you have discovered Susanne Sundfør, her lyrics and her voice tells me that you have something quality inside you. Susanne came with a song in 2020 from a documentary that is very strong but it teached everyone here in Norway that we are vulnarble, please listetning to the sone: "When the Lord". I hope it melts your heart. Hugs, Dominic
whoa i love Susanne sunddør! nice man!
Btw...a-ha had Susanne Sundfør perform both I've Been Losing You and The Sun Always Shines On TV Fun with them. It's on YT. Another fun fact is that a-ha granted her 1 million norwegian kroner in their talent competition. a-ha-live.com/tag/susanne-sundfor/
Reminds me of Aurora. :)
Damn, that was haunting
we have three-leaf clover in Norway, Susanne Sundfør, Angelina Jordan and Aurora..🥰❤
ane brun?
@@soleywolfgangsdottir Yes, Ane Brun and Ingrid Helene Håvik (Highasakite), Sigrid, Fay Wildhagen, Sol Heilo and also Maria Petra who is a brand new talent. A lot of talented girls i Norway
@@56kof How is it possble to forget Emilie Nicolas?
@@leod2408 It seems to be a "school of female talent" i Norway just now, that´s probably why Emilie and others was forgotten :)
@@56kof i know but Emile has been top 3 in Norway for many years
I love Susanne Sundfør, she makes amazing music and she is my favourite Norwegian singer/songwriter besides Aurora. Although Susanne writes beautiful music herself she is also covering other artists and she’s able to make another artist’s masterpiece sparkle even more. Listen to Judee Sill’s The Kiss sung by Susanne, it’s not better than the original song but it makes one song perfect in two different ways!
Forgot the link, here it is: ua-cam.com/video/sfkSn62OypU/v-deo.html
She is a gem! Great react!
She should have done movietracks way earlier. Such a great composer, writer and Producer. PS Check out her Memorial. The composer(she remind me of Hans Zimmer in some ways..) Susanne will blow your socks right off, and put you into high orbit. That was my first react on that song♡
Susanne Sundfør is amazing.
A very good reaction and commentary. For Susanne Sundfør I would recommend "Fade away" that's a bit more poppy in the sound design, and " White foxes." The videos for them are however quite dark. Another norwegian artist I like is Annie and my favourite song of hers is "heartbeat."
Love your reactions! And welcome to the world of norwegian artists. You soon will recive a norwegian membership in the mail😁 Susanne really is one of ours most talented singer/song-writers. I would recommend her song "When the Lord" from the documentary of a very talented norwegian photographer Lene Marie Fossen, who died far to young after struggeling with anorexia since childhood. The video "When the Lord" is disturbing and powerfull. But also very beautiful and warm. Sigrid is also an norwegian artist you should react to! Her live versions of her song "Dynamite" is really good. Personally I like the Radio 1`s Piano Session the best. (Pardon my rusty english) Greetings from Norway
"When The Lord" is the first time he heard/reacted to Susanne about a month ago. Check out his previous videos. You can probably find it most easily by searching "Yeedeed When The Lord." 😉
@@brenspin Hi Laila, thank you for your kind words! And thanks Bren my friend for letting her know, I completely forgot to mention When the Lord was my first time hearing her!
You have to do, undercover, running to the sea, White foxes and when the lord. 😀😀👍
All her music is something that make you aware of your heart,,if you have one. Also music that force you to reflect, - not much music today that makes you do that. but she has many sides, Also Lets have some fun music! "Accelerate/Fade Away" ( live at Øya '15 ). That's a little push for your blood pressure. Maybe after "Undercover" (live at Stollar), and the "Silicone Veil", (live at Skavlan).
But to be honest What I most of all want people to hear is an audio, music
What you called an organ is a Fender Rhodes electrical piano with a tremolo effect.
And the entire Susanne Sundfør album - Ten love Songs - This woman is art - And White Foxes - the lyrics and the tune is magic
ua-cam.com/video/MCIaj-oLi28/v-deo.html - and one of the live versions of Silicone Veil
:))
Please react to Sussane Sundfor and M83 OBLIVION live at Jimmy Kimmel.. That song is epic man 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Hey Mike! Could you react to a song called Colors by 'Black Pumas' really been feeling their uplifting music lately .
My interpretation is that the theme is the sex worker, but on a broader or more universal note it is about a disposition in the soul of those who have lost God, and have reduced the soul for pleasure seeking, and that is why it hits all of us. There is no dignity or good in making the soul a ‘whore’ of the senses and the world.
There are echos in the Garden.. there are still echos of Divine Truth in this world.
It’s been two loooong weeks since last Evanescence reaction. So, I have a request: Evanescence - The Other Side!
Pleaaaaase! Thanks 😂😊
Hey Tata! I know, sorry, it seems slower because I haven't had time to do reaction videos lately, but there has been more requests in line before the next evanescence one, sorry! I will add yours to the list, thank you!
@@Yeedeed no problem! I’ll wait 🙏🏽
Hi ! ☺️ When Mylène Farmer please ? 😅
Very soon Eva, she's coming up on the list!
@@Yeedeed thank you so much ! I can't wait 😁 and sorry you must find me painful every time😆
I do not find you painful at all, and there are others who are way more persistent than you lol
@@Yeedeed ok thank you ☺️
C'mon man, Stop to pause video while she singing acapella.
Ehh..lol.not for me, but great reaction video ❤👍👍
