I hate it when non-readers say 'I would never have time to read that much, I'm way to busy' and I'm like ..... but you don't even like reading, so of course you would never make time for it.
@ British-Aussie Lover " the worst one is "Books are boring" " I cannot relate to people like that. Seriously, you might as well be from another planet.
In my monthly planning, I schedule a personal readathon once a month when I know my work will stabilize. It helps and I get excited about that time alone with my books. Otherwise, I read everyday. I sleep better when I read at night; and I don't rush it. I read to absorb the content so even though I read multiple books per month, I end up finishing about 4 books a month that I started reading a month before. So, in truth, I complete a book in 2 months on average. But, I read because I want to read and I enjoy reading.
I love your suggestion to "switch it up", and maybe not read 5 similar books in a row. great advice. I find that that one suggestion really helps keep me out of "reading slumps". btw, love your top, so beautiful.
Two helpful tips I would give (maybe someone will read this here and it will help them) are - if you've had a huge pile of books just sitting around for a long time and you don't think you'll read them just get rid of them! It will make you feel better about buying more because there aren't old ones in the way that you feel discouraged looking at. Also, it's easier to get through a book if you want to read it so if you aren't interested in what you're reading, start reading something else. People care way too much about DNF-ing. If a book sucks, don't finish it! Read something worth your time :)
Hoopla is a great app, if it’s available from your library. It’s like Netflix, the ebooks and audiobooks (and moves too) are available on demand so you never have to wait for a book to become available.
I've made my resolution this year to read every day. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely be coming back to this throughout the year! I typically read late at night and into the morning sometimes. Also just randomly during the day if I'm not doing anything else! :)
I like to start and finish a book in a weekend. Which is why I usually stick to shorter novels and not the door stoppers.i don't get the whole audio book thing tho.
I always try to find ways to improve my reading whether I really need to or not. What I need is to use tips and tricks for bigger books like Stephen King. I wish my family read as much as me and that my friends read the same books I do. My two best friends who I think would both are back in school and have other priorities. It makes me sad. My Facebook book groups and watching and filming on Booktube helps. Sorry just had vent for a second.
A friend and i like to do buddy reads but i always en up finishing the book WAY before my friend sooo i dunno it's not very motivational for reading more
I work at a smoothie shop where I have a lot of downtime so I’ve recently realized that the iPads we use as registers still have iBooks on them so I’ve been downloading books from Project Gutenberg and reading during down time. It’s a pretty awesome set up and I can typically get though about 60 pages just at work alone
I know E-books and audiobooks are a major help for many people but i just can't get into them I prefer having the actual book in my hands. Although I've known people who have a hard time reading they listen to audiobooks and it helps.
I would also add not to buy too many books at a time if you're new to reading. I used to do this and I'd have way too many books to read. Having that many unread books made reading feel like chore. That's when I used to use the "I don't have enough time to read" excuse. Maybe it's just me, but I started to buy more when reading became a hobby for me.
I do the multiple format thing. Also have books that I read either in specific places or during different times of day like at work or when my husband isn't home and after he gets home.
I live in the US, I just checked and there are audiobooks available here too. If you go to browse, genres and moods, there’s a category called word. There’s audiobooks and separate playlists by specific authors.
You are right about that. I make time to read. I read when I get my hair done, at the coffee shop, even when I have time and there is no class yet. I read before I go to bed as well
awesome vid! my library used to use overdrive, now they use CloudLibrary which is just as good IMO and use it a lot along with buying or borrowing physical copies. i also try to switch genres around so I don't get burnt out like reading too many king novels (since they r focus heavy) , sometimes I just want fast read or a mystery read, depends on my mood at the time
Such a great video Julia, i read daily. The horror genre is my favourite . Been reading Ronald Malfi, Black Mouth. Good book. Just recently discovered him.
Just discovered your channel and had to subscribe once I saw you were a King fan... great content you have overall & absolutely you make time for the things you want & love... 💙
I'm a slow reader. I'm currently reading IT by Stephen King. My goal is to read 50 pages a day and read one book a month. Last year I read Cujo, The Outsider, and Rose Madder by Stephen King. Haven't finished The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon because I get bored with it.
Do you know what I learned?I was not to well a few months back,so I took to audio books. They are so much faster if you want to read more. And that's when I picked Kings 3 biggest books and I listened to all of them..went like a breez. So know if any big book comes up now,I might read it,,,as my health is a lot better,or I just may listen to another big book.I just finished listening to "War and Peace" and I was way through that book in a short period of time.
Hi Julia I love your videos and that you post so often! Do you have any suggestion for other booktubers who are mostly in to the horror genre. My hobbies include reading and (now that I know about booktube ) watching videos about books lol
+saraha55 aw thanks!! Honestly do what you love and upload consistently ! Try not to focus on the numbers and be interactive in the booktube community! 😚
Julia Sapphire omg!!! Your my Inspiration and I really want to read a Stephen King book so please tell me on a scale of 1-10 how scary are they because I get scared a bit easy but I've watched Stephen King based movies and they are not scary to me...please I need your help😘❤️ Just this one question I'm trying to ask and I believe I'll annoy you so I'll shut up now😂 Love you 😘
Am I the only one who loves reading but instead of reading I watch other people read on UA-cam -____-

Of course!!! Readers get the process going...people who don't read just waste their time on a hover board or something 😂
Yeah plus they have plenty of time for tv, Netflix and movies
Claps, “ you make time.” You are my hero lol.
+Kreative Krystol Reads N Writes 😉😚😚

I’m a slow reader. But I and almost half way done with IT (547 and the half way is 576) in 3 week and that is a accomplishment for me.

yea for sure! nothing can replace the feel of a physical book so I totally understand that :)
