jupiter > 9990 :D
headed to beaver creek and steamboat springs for the weekend squad!
Are there any secret spots off Jupiter?
Before these resorts became one, the way folks felt about their home mountain was somewhat jihadish. For some odd reason I dislike the Pcmr side. Every time I go, I like it less. Today I had to turn back home after looking for parking for 40 mins. Jupiter feels short and on good days that slow lift is impossible. 9990 is not much longer, but zero waits. Back then tourists used to stay on the Pcmr side, but now they are everywhere (except 9990)
Watch my Jupiter video!!
Conditions on Jupiter have not been great this season.
Hope you enjoyed BC. I was there last month and the conditions were perfect. No lines, either.
I’m at Park City right now 2/26-3/2 Conditions are cruddy and it’s overcrowded. Ugh.
Still can’t beat a day in the mountains, though!!
I really appreciate that you don't duck ropes. Ski Patrol ropes stuff off for a reason.
I don’t mess around with ducking ropes
Lucas, I found your channel and absolutely love your story telling ability, you are not only an excellent skier, but have the insight needed to set up all those shots, editing and delivering the product is amazing, can’t wait to see the rest of your catalog
thanks so muich robert!
Just came here to get stoked for next season, 360 off the cornice is in line LOL! Re-watching somewhere I've officially been now, and seeing you crushing it is so sick!
I LOVE THIS. You may think this was a bad day for you - but as a person who's gone to Park City / Canyons a few times and always wondered if I was up for 99 90 - you gave me a little gift. HELL NO, I'm not ready for it! LOL. As a late learner, intermediate skier - I'll stick to watching you do it! Awesome! Thanks for your videos. They're incredibly fun.
Haha that’s awesome! I bet you are more ready for it than you think 💪🏼
No worries, Lucas. Even tho you felt "off,' you still put on a pro show! 😎 Your thoughts remind me of actors in a long-running play. Even if you do months of good work, there's inevitably that nite that from the sec. you step on the stage, you feel 'off' - & can't 'get it on track' all nite. But the next day, you're back in the groove! P.S. I not only enjoyed your video, but had a brief moment of "lottery" excitement when you scrolled down the names for the backpack prize winner and I saw my name whisk past....but alas....not stop. ⛔ No cool Zipliner backpack for ME! Bwahahahaha
thank you alice! good days and bad days! this was still a good day being out in the mountains and the conditions were great, just didnt ski all that well. and hey if this winner doesnt come forward, maybe you will be the lucky one next!
Still blown away how sketch it is this late in the season. Way to make the most of it! Great production as always! We all have ‘one of those days’ :)
thanks shawn! we definitely need more snow still. hoping march delivers a bit!
This is my home mountain as well. Looking forward to the day we can get a lap in together. Favorite run: Canyons: Magic Lines and PC: Scott's Bowl/Molly's
Nice man!! Those are all awesome runs!
Excellent Vid! Just visited Park City, stayed at the Peaks. My son & I skied 2.5 days straight until our legs started to failed. !
Awesome! Stoked you got to experience PC!
Hey lucas! Being thrown off your routine can make a big difference in how your day goes. I enjoyed the video but missed the breakfast...LOL!!!
Haha it totally does! Messes everything up!!
Nice bro, I literally haven't been on the Canyons side this year yet. Appreciate the content as always!!!
Thanks brother! My first time over there this year too but really enjoy PC side better for some reason!
these vids are really gettin me hyped for the season
Nice, arrived at pc for the first time! Even with these conditions (apparently horrible according to locals) this was much better than typical east coast conditions! (Favorite run was either red pine chutes or a run off Jupiter peak idk which one)
For sure! Conditions are quite nice right now with the recent snow, just still thin cover!
another great video, can't get enough of these
Thanks so much bro
Nah dude, it's not you. It's the variable snowpack. It's making a lot of people feel off their game (myself included). Watched four people in a row hip check their first turns on Magnet over at DV on Monday due to a severe dust-on-crust situation. Also, one of the main reasons injuries are ticking up as well. Great video as always! Here's to hoping we can get a good storm cycle going.
Thanks Brent! Snow is definitely a bit tricky but I thought conditions were good overall! Hoping for some more snow!
Just spent Presidents weekend at canyons...94 turns moguls were massive and the line you were skiing had to much exposed rock for me left of the lift. Did spend a lot of time going right towards magic line and cutting through the trees at lower east face....always great content and thx for sharing!!! PS agree that if you go right sucks that you have to hop on tombstone but might find some chalky stuff as a result.
awesome dude! sounds like you had a killer time up there. the moguls at 94 turns are always pretty insane but im stoked you found good stuff off the other side!
This makes me even more hyped to go and use my Virtika jacket I just got! Great footage👍
Hell yea dude! Stoked for you!
Thanks!
Lucas! Did you hear? All of Scotts Bowl and Pinecone Ridge is not open. In the past, the rope has stayed on the tree line. Now, the boundary is on top of Pinecone! Hope you get up there soon! Super fun! Great video man!
That’s amazing! Might have to make a trip up there this year!!
Dude so true. Just yesterday it feels like all the mt’s opened
Right?! Crazy that we’re about to start the month of March!
Thanks for another great video! I noticed the same scenario at Solitude a few weeks back. Looks great, then you hit the rocks. I would love to see you ski a few days at Big Sky! I went there for my first time last week. It's incredible!
I’ll be at big sky next weekend actually!
@@LucasCatania17 big sky is great, but while you’re in Montana I would recommend going to “showdown Montana” it’s a local hill but it’s really fun. But it’s smaller only 37 runs
@@furocity201 looks sweet but just a bit too far for a weekend trip!
@@LucasCatania17 Oh alright, but excited to see the big sky video next weekend!
Hopefully the snow cover is better at Big Sky, I was there end of January and the rocks were insane! I got 2 core shots. Hit the Gullies if they are open off the tram, #1 or 2 if ya can!
Thanks for getting us into some trouble with you! what a day!
Hahaha thanks brother. One of these days it isn’t gonna end well…
Hopefully we get more snow this upcoming seaaom. I'll be visiting Utah in January, and I hope you have snow then.
Wow, you had some scary runs there! I agree with you about skiing under the lift. I hate an audience. Thanks for another great video Lucas!
haha yes its so intimidating. thanks for watching another one gail!
Still a good vid Lucas! It's skiing! Lol. We always hit 9990 a couple times when there.....last time we took another buddy up and one look he said "Hell No" and took the lift down! Ha. Enjoy Steamboat!...one of my favorites!
haha oh wow! didnt even know you could download 9990!
Awesome video! I may have just missed you I was up at Jupiter on Wednesday for 7 laps or so, if you were up there on Wednesday the snow conditions looked a lot worse on canyons side for some reason, Jupiter had like 6-7 inches which was refreshing from all the packed snow 😂
ahh nice man! i definitely prefer jupiter and PC over canyons/9990. this was shot on monday!
Phenomenal videos as always!!
thanks drew!
again - great content. thank you!
thanks for watching!!
Great vid!!
thanks!!
Thank you for another great episode ❄️⛷❄️ Stay safe ✌️
thanks breaux!!
You’re definitely an insane skier! The snowpack was probably not too fun, especially skiing on rocks and other crap the whole time
Thanks dude! Conditions were actually pretty good - just thin coverage!
The bad/meh days make those great days that much better. You're turning those JJs into a nice set of rock skis lol
haha yeah dude! this is probably the last season on these JJs!
Man, I was there last weekend. Stayed in those townhouses right across from silver star.
oo sick area!
We have had bad snow this year, but a big thing is that the resorts are struggling to get workers, so lots of lifts arent open cause theres no one to run them, and there are runs not open cause theres no one to groom them.
👍🏽
Skied this two weeks ago when I was super hungover with terrible conditions, not fun!
nice man!!
Have been at PCMR for a few days and every lift I have ridden I have been looking for those signature JJs and montauk suits…to no avail!
Love seeing you struggle man. It’s good for the soul and nice for all your viewers to realize it ain’t perfect every day.
I have one more day at PCMR tomorrow. Name your favorite run (canyons side) and I will try to hit it. Enjoy steamboat!
thanks brian! i hope you enjoyed your time at PCMR!
Let's go!! Back to ski vlogs.
lets goooo
Love the video!
thanks joe!
You know that place is massive when you live there and not even familiar with all of it. I’m going there for the first time ever Feb 13-16. I better bring extra batteries for my cell phone for trail maps and maybe they have a paper map for backup.
Legend!
right back at you brother!!
love your videos
Thanks Jackson!
Hitting the Ghee this weekend man 🤙 gonna conquer Toilet Bowl
Hahaha oh man dude!! Avenge my death!
Cool to see Matt Edwards!
yes hes a legend haha!
I love both Jupiter and 9990 but I’ll only go to 9990 on a pow day . When I get of the 9990 lift I normally take a right and take the skinny traverse and it leads out to this big open bowl which is super sick and fun
Not sure if you watched the video or not but that’s what I did twice at the end!
@@LucasCatania17 oh I thought red pine chutes was somewhere else I never new the name of it LOL
Matt’s the man!!!!
yes he is!!
Word !
word!!
7:18 Are we not going to talk about how he loses a ski and still doesn't fall? 😧
haha just popped out of the toe piece is all!
I’m just curious what the bottoms of you skis look like after this video and some of the others I’ve seen. Do you have to Ptex them a lot?
First
That one spot at red pine chutes looked like it hurt a Bit
Also video was great 👍
enjoy the video!
Bro you make me so jealous sometimes! Not hate though my guy keep shredding
hell yea dude keep shredding
Damn wish I didnt work so I could have gotten up this week. Saturday should be pretty dope tho.
Bummer man. Have fun! Seems like there’s some fresh snow out there.
3:35
Me! :D
haha the legend!
What are your thoughts on skiing vs snowboarding? I’ve done both and as usual have progressed easier on skis but how do you decide which to really stick with?
ive just always skiied so havent really had that issue! no reason why you cant just do both!
What goggles are u wearing, they look pretty good
Zipline!
Great videos as always! I just wanted to know if your going to big sky this year
Yes I’m going there next week!
@@LucasCatania17 awesome! I love how you respond to your fans
What does the scouter say about its elevation? IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!
Your are fantastic young man ⛷⛷⛷⛷
Hahah thank you
YO MATT IS THE GOAT
a legend!!
How do you like your Montec gear?
ive been enjoying it! i recommend it.
Man I was just there but I spent the whole day skiing off jupiter and mcconkeys
That was probably the better move!
Let’s hope Utah gets there powder back
fingers crossed! !
Dope video Lucas. Heading out to park city next season. Skied deer valley a handful of times but nothing else. Got any recommendations?
Jupiter at park city is definitely worth checking out and so is snowbird!
Will do! and your Jupiter vid and thumbnail are sick.
bro I saw you I was at park city Tuesday Wednesday and thursday
i was there on monday dude
what are your skis like for carving or short turns on piste? Looking for some skis that can carv but still handle themselves in powder and off piste
I think they’re great. You can see very short turns on piste at 3:15. I’ve exclusively used these in all conditions for the past 3 seasons. I don’t think much about the skis and equipment though and just ski with what I have.
@@LucasCatania17 Awesome, thanks for the reply!
Hey Lucas! Love the videos, was curious when this was filmed? I’m heading up to Park City on March 1st and was wondering what the conditions were like
This was filmed on Monday. The date the video was filmed is always in the intro graphic at 0:18.
Awesome can’t wait thank you!
@3:32 thats me with the helmet and the hella fat coat
Nice!
Guest Appearance in the vlog spotted haha
Hahaha yes bro
We had a a house here then we had to move to the ice coast 🤣🤣😭😭
Ah bummer man
I don't even know if snow is causing runs to be closed. Vail management has been terrible and when I was there in December they were so short staffed.. As far as I know Thaynes isn't even open yet
Yea thaynes is still closed and probably won’t open this year.
Now that we’re all used to breakfast shots it does seem a lil incomplete w/o it. LOL I’m sure u used that tripod so much for vlogs for it to finally give out. Low coverage is everywhere it seems this season. Probably need to stay on more well know/tamer trails rather than more adventurous ones when I’m in UT in a wk…skiing is skiing and fun anyways. And I feel same about runs under the lift…they are in some fun terrain but don’t like the audience…I get performance anxiety from people watching and critiquing and so I don’t ski as well on those if I decide to ski it once in awhile 😂
Haha yes the tripod has definitely done it’s job!! Bummer about your core shot. Just shows we still need more snow!!
Dont be hard on yourself about your performance. Nobody skis well in those conditions, and I think you skied well considering. I think skiing the varied conditions makes a person a better skier and more humble. ; )
Welcome to skiing the Mid-Atlantic
I thought the conditions were great apart from the bare coverage but I just didn’t ski well haha !
Don't worry, I've had much worse skiing days than this. For example, the worst possible ice, and snow that had the same consistency as SAND. I would 100% ski these conditions over what I've skied before.
Haha that sounds awful dude!! I’m sure you crushed it though. And the conditions were actually really good! I just had a bad day personally skiing
Almost gave you a thumbs down because there was no breakfast intro...
... But then I remembered how awesome you are regardless. Gotta say I actually love how you handle the sketchy bits of your runs! Canyons Resort looks super cool! Is it part of Park City? Sorry for the dumb question lol I've never been 🤣
Yes canyons and park city are the same place now
Hahaha brooo I don’t blame you man. Almost couldn’t even put this video together because it was missing so much of Luna! Don’t worry - I disliked it myself hahaha
@@LucasCatania17 seems we both hate our most recent uploads 🤣😭😂
Conditions only a Utah skier could complain about 😃😄
When did I complain about the conditions?
@@LucasCatania17 Nah just the mention of thin cover. It has been a dry winter though.
Lucas… great maneuvering in that virtually impossible area! All credit to you… you can manage the sketchy stuff quite well 😄⛷️
ever tried snowboarding?
nope!
That sign at the gondola “What makes you epic?”, someone needs to write below it “uhhhh, $20 for a hot dog and drink & 3hr lift lines” don’t get me wrong there’s a lot more but not enough space to write
i actually like epic
Cmon nothings dryer and lighter than NM snow
never experienced it before!
Don’t mess up your JJs on thin coverage Lucas.
They’re all goood!
Hey do you know a Nickie and Angie Papa from Connecticut?
no
Not so fun fact : 1/2 of all sidecountry avalanche deaths in Utah are from the top of that lift
yup very dangerous area thats why i was pissed they ducked the rope
whats going on with blue and yellow at 8:25
What do you mean?
@@LucasCatania17 looked like that person was face down in the snow
Those were pretty difficult conditions and flat light so I can understand being off your A game. The run you marked as Fright Gully didn't seem like that was correct. Fright Gully is literally a steep gully and not what you were skiing. Your channel is blowing up and I'm happy for you!!
Ah yeah not totally sure about the run. Just went off what I saw on the trail map!
@@LucasCatania17 yeah, the trail map is confusing. A lot of what you were mostly skiing is actually unnamed except East Face, Red Pine Chutes and Charlie Brown. I wish I would have been there to show you around. I spent a lot of time skiing 9990 and know it well.
it wasn't that bad🤣
😅😅
Did you replace your gorilla tripod with the same or something different?
Dude what’s your day job?
yeah i got another gorilla pod! and i work in real estate!
I would take your worst day any day brother
20k end of march im calling it
Eh might be a stretch but we will see! That’s like 1.2k a week haha :D
What’s your job at park city are you a medical person
I work in real estate
Nice video. Have you ever been to big sky? Looking there for my next out west trip.
going there this weekend!
@@LucasCatania17 ok great I’ll be ready for the vid
