Willy should be wearing a letter for this team moving forward. Whether it the ‘A’ or ‘C’. Regardless of what your “uncle” says about him, he consistently shows up in the playoffs and is one of the few guys who really can handle the Toronto media well.

I mean Samsonov handles the Toronto Media pretty well but Nylander should have a A on his jersey instead of Rielly or Marner

I've been saying this for years. He plays better when it actually matters! Both in Toronto and for Sweden national team. I see more of a leadership in him than Auston. But he definitely deserves an C or A.
Nylander deserves the C more than Matthews
He is such a nice guy.. not a bad word to say about anyone… you all played really well!
Nylander is the most consistent leaf in the playoffs. He shows up, gets points, but more importantly he gets clutch goals. He is also becoming a leader. Too bad he wasn't available at the start of the series. Despite criticism of being weak in the corners, he's a 50 goal scorer next year and a 100 pt man. Best performing Leaf in the playoffs every year. He is the future.
This is the captain right here period, holds guys accountable, always shows up for playoffs and cool as a cucumber, just like Sundin was but more talented, my favorite player on the team.

I do appreciate that nylander, as much as he can with the media, is fairly transparent, you can kind of glean the mood of the group.
Willy, you were one of the best players this season, and post-season for the Leafs. Don't be hard on yourself - you can't do it all on your own.
Like other people have commented here, he deserves to either have the C or an A on his jersey next season. Playing through or just after ocular migraines really is no joke and this guy deserves a lot of praise for his consistent ability to lead by example and show up when it counts.
William Nylander is a straight talking stand up customer. The real deal.

Willy man i appreciate what you did out there You came back from a possible concussion and did more than our 13mill future captain Auston matthews who was also injured but a ghost in every game except game 2 this loss was completely not your fault whatso ever you battled hard you were outstanding and carried the team 2 out of 3 of your games back you rlly did prove you are more worth the money this time of year then matthews and marner

I used to think Nylander wasn’t built to win, just in it for the money. But as the years go on. He’s the only one that consistently steps up in the playoffs always. The only one that looks pissed off and upset when they lose and the only one that takes the questions and criticism not like a little B?!@H!
Surprised a lot of folks like yourself never saw how he would elevate and compete in the playoffs. Matthews is right there too. These two are the only game breakers we have that can win you a game.
All the Marner defenders will say he has all the points but his overall play and game breaking ability doesn’t show up when u need it.

Leafs didn't get a break in game 7. That puck could've easily gone in off of a Boston player skate b4 the end of 3rd period. Just unlucky.

Matthews, Nylander, Knies and Woll are the new core of this team going forward in my opinion. Moe will be sticking around too, but we need to take the extra cap we get from JT, Marner and whatever else we can get to invest in better D, Goaltending and a few power forwards. Im not against the idea of resigning JT for cheap and have him play a lesser roll on the team, maybe give the C to Matthews or Rielly and JT wears the A and is a second-third line center. If we can get a few more C with the cap room we get, maybe move JT to the wing. Just a few thoughts. Sucks about the failure of this team, but it needs a new look! Go Leafs Go

Teams change all the time it’s the nature of the business… a player got emotional about Bert leaving his last team… you no longer get to see your best friends every day it would suck but it happens 🤷🏼♀️
0:22 willy says I didn’t even have a chance to think on the OT goal and it’s a tough goal. What’s tough about it, did someone lift the ice rink at the bruin’s end. This is why a real defensive structure with consistently the same players can, by practice, make the defending automatic without having to think and then react. 4 players beaten by two players on a dump-in. Excuses after excuses as top heavy will loose and especially watching Nylander coasting as if he was pushed from centre ice flat footed and rearing two total hip replacements. Non winning player here. Another example of hustling to the bank to cash the cheques after each game, being happy and complacent in being mediocre at best, along with marner , Tavares , Nylander stands with all four just like Mount Rushmore.
A non motivated coach to excite these players starting the ot. A goalie who can’t play the puck with no confidence. A Brendan shanahan escaping from the spotlight, for years. Unscathed. And if you believe trevliving can fix this , good luck. Look into Calgary at the mess he made.

Willy can handle the media. IMO leave marner alone. Win as a team, lose as a team. Other goalies might have saved the puck and other players may have acted differently seeing Pasternak fly in. Like Willy said, "we're right there". I think they are. Couple new players, no big changes and I think the outcome will be different.
How many years have they been "right there"? The point is not to be there with the other team, it's to win.

As opposed to all those other teams whose depth guys get interviewed and criticized, right? Every team has top players who make the most money who become the lightning rods for the media focus and criticism, not sure why you think it's different here. When the Bruins lost games 5 and 6, the media weren't calling for Brazeau or Maroon to be better, they were calling for Pastrnak and Marchand.
