Interestingly, Princess Leia, Padme's child, who was raised by the Organa's, grewed up to be a more radical rebel, who tooked a stan for other marginalized groups instead of only thinking on people who looked like her. That maybe tells, not only Vader would be a bad parent if the twins stayed with him, but Padme also wouldn't be a good parent.
FANTAGHIRO Likely not, at least in terms of raising a rebel. She’d probably be very loving and caring, non-abusive unlike Anakin, but wouldn’t instill the same morals as Bail and Breha did.
I think a large part of this is basically the own writer's misogyny in writing women along with their own politics and mostly having a white cast. Def not excusing her behavior but just something to consider
yolanda castro Yeah, I think in many ways you’re right on the mark. Aside from Phantom Menace, Padmé is just about always defined by her relationship to male characters, and we seldom see her acting of her own accord outside of those relationships. There’s no doubt Lucas’s writing is filled with misogyny. Lucas was also very critical of the United States government and military industrial complex, of which Padmé was part of an allegorical critique. Making the Senate seem inefficient or ineffective was intentional, and quite possibly put before crafting a complete character. I do still believe, though, that it is far from unrealistic for a privileged woman to value her position of privilege above helping or seeking justice for other marginalized groups. I definitely don’t think every Padmé fan is as okay with Anakin’s massacre as she is, of course, and agree that she deserved better writing, but I also like the examination of how progressive-seeming people will sometimes cover up the horrible actions of their loved ones.
What misogyny were you able to absorb from the movies? The movies were about people with superpowers of all sorts that made them utterly unstoppable, yet somehow amongst all odds, Padmé actually managed to keep up with them in the first two movies. Now, I don't think that any of us expected her to as active as she had been in the previous movies while 8 months pregnant do we? I would love to understand how the only character that posed a threat to the most powerful man in the galaxy despite not having any superpowers is a victim of misogyny.
Its a shame that you apparently felt nervous about the backlash when your argument is very logical and graceful in its delivery. Do progressive appearing but in the end very privileged and selfish acting people like padme as an example deserve this grace? I don't think so.

"Whoever put Padmé in the position of Queen is more to blame than her."
It's revealed who that was in the Darth Plagueis novel.
I can always count on you to come in with the lore explanation!

Star Wars characters have incredibly warped morals in general.
Dragunov I agree! The problem arises when people take those warped morals as morals that they should hold.
Great vid! thanks for making and sharing
Thank you!
