GRACE JONES - DO OR DIE (MOZ MORRIS RAZORTRAX REENERGISE MIX)

Her debut appearance at Studio 54 in New York was on New Year’s Eve, but after midnight so on Jan 1st, 1978. This was her eight single release! She’d previously released I Need A Man twice but this is equally memorable!
If you listen to the original disco mix and instrumental neither had an intro or outro. Plus the Disco mix had so much guff in the middle it meandered all over the place. So what I wanted to do was make it DJ friendly and tighten up the mix and make it punchier.
Locked to the original 131 bpm in Cubase and then tightened up in Ableton. After importing both mixes back into Cubase I set about manually building a DJ friendly mix that kept the spirit of the original but without the fluff and guff of the original! If that makes sense! With some additional digital re-editing for drama and FX.
Some of the edits and cross fades were insane but they made the edits work and flow better.
I hope you will enjoy the result! A LOT of work went into this!

Loving your work on this terrific classic Grace disco track. It definitely keeps the energy going with no slumps to stop dancing. I remember when it first came out & it confirmed Grace as one of Disco's true Queens. I was 18 & I would dance my a**e off to this monster down the discos in London. It really stretches Grace's vocals but it's a shame that radio never picked up on her at the time cos this is proper quality disco.
