"...Maalouf stopped to explain the genesis of the much appreciated song "True Sorry." Based on his puzzling dream of an aged man who shook hands, cheered, and apologized to people, Maalouf contextualized the song to blow dreamy melodies with a sense of regret, yet an air of sophistication."
Maalouf explained the story behind this song in his some concerts. Many nights he had the same dream about an old man. His name was unknown. He was knocking the some doors or ringing the doorbells over and over again, and then he was saying "I'm sorry." to whomever opened the doors to him. He was repeating that again and again. Maalouf had that dream for many times. Maalouf felt that nonamed old man's pain, regret, desperation and grief in his own heart.
This song is an apology letter which is written by that unknown old man and sent by Ibrahim Maalouf to us.

It's funny how our perception of a song varies with context. The first time I heard this was through a video of a communist party leader talking about consolidating power in a powerful speech. Perhaps because of that, it always felt like a "rising from the ashes" tone

I am truly sorry Kamelia you deserved better , you deserved someone brave and at least care and definitely more handsome ,i am truly sorry to heart who kept waiting for a coward, and mostly i am truly sorry to my soul who was ready to do wherever it takes only to please someone who prefers to move on without even trying.

    Alexandre.

I saw Ibrahim Maalouf in concert just after the release of this album. I saw him 4 times in concert. The first time was in a prestigious theater : La Cigalle, very small so Ibrahim can look in the eyes every single people who was there. I knew in advance that this song would be mind blowing live. It was, It's intense : it's a divine experience: you think your soul if flying ... with the soul of others people that were in the room. We felt so connected by the emotion ! It was a divine experience. Ibrahim took the time to talk to us, smile and he always was looking in the eyes of people who was there : this connecting was importante to him. He smiled a me, several times, like a kid so happy to share. I saw him on huge concert: he was the same. Talking to us, sharing personal feelings about the songs. Ibrahim Mallouf is a mix of talent, and hard work. He signed the soundtrack of of movie that earns several awards.
