That chorus in Too Close Too Late is a Courtney, Mike, and their bassist Josh harmonizing.
I've been listening to this EP continuously since it came out. So good. I love how Spiritbox is not afraid to experiment and not stay in one sound. Plus, I find Courtney's voice highly addictive to listen to, and Mike is the King of bendy bouncy riffs. My favorite band right now
The production alone of this EP deserves an award. Let alone the songwriting, damn
I think what affected the drums on Eternal Blue, was Covid. Zev (the drummer) was in the USA while the rest were recording together in Canada, and couldn't join up due to restrictions. So they recorded the drums over a Zoom call iirc.
Re: your conversation at 23:41 about them at the Grammys. They did a collab song with Megan Thee Stallion on her song "Cobra". There's a chance that even if Spiritbox can't do Jaded, that they'll do Cobra with Megan, which would be honestly amazing.
That is a fantastic idea and I hope it really happens!
They released a video for every song on this EP - they’re great :)
Also Courtney has said in interviews that this entire EP was written for all intents and purposes as one long song
Zev is an amazing drummer. Mike, who is Courtney's husband and guitarist programs all the music during the writing process and then has Zev tinker with the drum parts. Mike and Courtney also try to find the right tones to compliment her voice. Also, Courtney could be the best pop singer on the planet, but she chooses to use her talents for Metal and the world is better for it. Mike,and Courtney were engaged all the way back when they were in IWABO and got married in 2016 after IWABO broke up and they formed Spiritbox. They've known each other for over 15 years and been in different bands together.

As much as I love the pure-heavy Spiritbox, they are at their best with their full spectrum of sound. Even softer, all-cleans Spiritbox is more interesting than pure-heavy. Give me Constance and Ultraviolet over Holy Roller and Cellar Door any day.
Secret Garden too
In their interview on Nik Nocturnal's channel they seemed to hint that they're contractually obligated to do a second album but I doubt you'll see any of these songs on it. They said really enjoy doing EPs because they don't have to sit on their music for as long since albums can take years to produce. I also lets them experiment a lot - Did you guys check out Rotoscope? That EP was very different to both Eternal Blue and this.
All the songs have music videos too which is nice

You should check out Invent Animate "Heavener". It came out this year and the production of that album is amazing. It also has quality clean vocals on top of all the heaviness.

Cool, have been watching for a while now, you should do the first selftitled EP. Also this EP is a "concept album" or should i say "concept ep"
Male backing vocals would be josh the bassist. Formerly as I lay dying. I really hope they use is vocals in some future tracks more than just backing
On "Too Close Too Late" it's actually Courtney, Mike, and Josh don't gang vocals in the last chorus.
Spiritbox have mastered blending genres like no other, like Faith No More did in the 90's, they are doing the equivalent in 2023, introducing the locals to music they would have never listened to before.. I have been a metalhead since I was a kid but my 3 favorite singers of all time are Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and Aaliyah, and I gotta say Courtney is right up there with them for me now, she could sing anything! And the band is above and beyond what anybody in music is doing today in any genre and if they don't perform at the Grammy's it'll be a travesty and I won't watch.. They are pioneers and THIS is my ALBUM OF THE YEAR!✌️
Also interesting comment about The Void sounding like the band Garbage. You should check out the Rotoscope EP then, which came out last year, between this and Eternal Blue
The EP is one long song in six parts telling a looping narrative, that is why there are repeated references and narrative strands throughout the songs. And so there is about a 0% chance that the songs on the EP will make it onto the next album.
I like it being a standalone effort!

Tbh to me Zev the drummer is really holding back and not trying to show off and really play beats that benefits the song and not the drummer. Simple grooves but each hit matter more that way imo. Overall the best EP of 2023! Mix and Master should get an award for this!!✨

"The drummer's playing too much" It's barely more than a simple beat, that's even worse than when someone said The Rev was overplaying in Bat Country
They have another song that's more Garbage ish. Rotoscope
If Spiritbox made more songs like Holy Roller that'd be boring as hell. That song isn't really a showcase of anything.
The best parts of their discography were from the first couple of EPs.
