    I drove 140 km/h (87 mph) with the TM3 for a short while, and it sounded like a haunted castle with all the wind noise. It also looks like a turtle on wheels. Getting the i4 was an easy decision. Biggest handling problem is the large turning radius, and ground clearance is on the low side at 12,5 cm.

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  8 місяців тому +1

      I like your explanation. Turtle on the wheels :) I haven't driven TM3 at high speeds, can't comment much on that. On the twisty roads Model 3 felt more solid due to better weight management and a feel of that low center of gravity. i4 felt capable, but heavy and kind of lazy. I think i4 M50i would do a better job. I am going soon to our local BMW Ultimate Drive Experience to try out i4 M50 on the crosstrek. i4 certainly stands out as a better build car with much better materials. I just hope they can reduce the weight in the future due to newer battery tech. Also can't wait to try out new i5. That looks very luxurious.

    I purchased the I4 edrive40 is beautiful car and is great at driving and the range is great 301 miles at 100 percent and I'm averaging about 310 miles per charge witch is better than the model 3 especially the number of complains about the range on the Tesla model 3 and Y .
    My friend has the Tesla model 3 and the quality of the BMW is way Superior than the model 3.

      Thank you for the feedback. Wow nice to hear that you guys are getting more than 300 miles of actual range on i4 eDrive40. I feel Tesla with new pricing model is kind of deviating from luxury segment more to the mainstream cars. So they will be basically pure EVs with great tech. I don't think they are trying to compete in the luxury segment.

      I have the same car i4 eDrive 40. Excellent.
      Tesla is just a boring old Fords of the new EV world, a shaped box of plastic with doors and wheels on it.
      Even the interior of Tesla cannot be more boring. With that giant iPad in the middle. They make them so cheap; they don't even give you an entire wheel to use. Upper portion gone.

      @@harmony3138 The reason I said that is due to the recent price decreases. Not long ago it was super expensive and now it's far less expensive than traditional luxury cars like i4. So I am trying to understand where Tesla is going with these new prices. It looks like they are trying to go lower than luxury cars.

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  9 місяців тому +2

      @@harmony3138 Well, yeah Tesla is a love or hate relationship. There are some who absolutely love what Tesla did with their interior, in fact forcing many auto makers to copy them. Even new BMWs are removing buttons and moving them into the screen. No more memory buttons in i4, no more climate controls. New idrive 8 is all about apps. This simplifies car's production so much. I do agree on the quality side, Tesla needs to step up their game.

    We pick up our i4 on this week. Can't wait. Car drives like a dream, and has zero affiliation w/the Nutball currently running Tesla. An added benefit is that the BMW HMUI (dash/buttons/stalks) that are actually designed and deployed to make driving safe and comfortable, rather than Tesla's which is designed to save money and distract drivers.
    The i4 D40 equipped like we wanted it was just a few thousand more than the Hyundai Ioniq 6, and we liked the drive experience more. The Hyundai had more range, but they too are falling for the new 'everyone wants a weird ass dash' syndrome. After sitting in and seeing a Tesla it wasn't even a consideration. The wheel, the controls (well, *lack* of controls) turned us off immediately, we didn't even schedule a test drive.

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  5 місяців тому

      Congrats on the new i4! It sounds like you're really excited about it. Enjoy the smooth drive. Compare to Model 3 and Ioniq 6 - i4 will be more upscale, more mature and smoother car. I just wish BMW worked on their weight reduction for electric cars which I am pretty sure we should see in the future. Ioniq 6 surprised me with it's driving dynamics. It's a car that is ready for anything, my only issue with it - is design. Even though I said in the video I kind of liked it at first but keep seeing it on the streets I think it's over done. I think I would also consider i4 between the 3, especially with very attractive incentives here in the states. Model 3 is a car that needs some getting used to, kind of like when first IPhone came out, but to me now I want to see new Model 3 project "Highland". I just really hate the fact like you mentioned they are making their car production cheaper by removing essential controls that I think absolutely needed in the car. It's turning away many car buyers and Tesla doesn't care.

    It's adorable that people think the BMW i4 eDrive 35 can even compete with the Model 3 long range. I wanted to switch to the BMW, but after test driving it's a no brainer to go with Tesla. Don't get me wrong the BMW is a great car, but compared to the Tesla it's blatantly obvious which is superior. For Gods sake just look at the comparison on paper. Tesla is better in everything: the 0-60 in the Tesla and the range are so much better with the Tesla! You get AWD vs the RWD of the eDrive35, more responsive steering IMO with the Tesla, and though completely subjective I prefer the look of the Tesla. The sound system is superior with the tesla, and let's not forget the PRICE. The BMW is $10-15K more! There is absolutely NO justification with a logical person on why someone would say the BMW is "better." I feel people just hate on Tesla's and form their niche.

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the feedback. Oh yes you cannot compare eDrive35 to Tesla Model 3 AWD. Even when I compared eDrive 35 to Model 3 RWD they are different cars after all. i4 is more about contempt luxury and comfort. It feels more mature and elegant, where's Model 3 is more of pure EV experience as it's connected more to the road. It's lighter, steers better and feels more fun. So yes some will choose either one based on purely being a fan of either brand, others will choose based on the tech that Tesla has and some will choose based on the price factor alone.

    NOTE: BMW is not selling the i4 as a PERFORMANCE car. only when you get to the M50 do they call it a performance car. The BMW is also a full blown vehicle as the Tesla is the Minimalist version.
