tak for videoen. endelig en video, der følger op på hvordan fokus fedtet virker efter en lang periode. og takumar er en dejlig serie af pentax optikker
Very useful. I have two of these lenses. One is stiff. Theoria Apophasis (the angry photographer) recommended Tetragun for lubricating helicoids. I have some but have not used it for this purpose yet. It seems that this grease separates in the tube from what I've read from gun owners. This is actually a very good lens. I have a lot of these very old Takumar Autos and Presets. They are some of my favourite lenses. The 55mm f2 is particularly spectacular. The 200mm f3.5 Preset is another brilliant one.
I fully concord. Made a test: A blotch of LM47 on a concave glas surface ("watch glas"), left upside down for about half a year in a cupboard. I even forgot about it 😉. Whan I inspected the glas, the grease had dried a bit but there was absolutely no separation of oil that would have spread over the glas surface. So this is quite good for certain types of camera or lense work.
Very interesting! I’ve been considering this grease since I can buy it locally, so you think it would work well on a rangefinder helicoid? I want to very slightly grease my Contax IIa, but I’m not sure if this would be the right type of grease…
Does liqui-moly make a grease with a lower NLGI number? This stuff is NLGI 2 which is a bit stiff for me, but otherwise yea I agree it's great. I'll add that the Helimax-XP that I've had for a few years now has never separated, but it's good to know that it's a possibility. I also have a container of Japan Hobby Tool #10 grease and I'll never use that stuff again, it separates easily and quickly; I too have had to service lenses a 2nd time when using it.

This is a great topic!

Well thought out and executed. Way to Go!

Very interested too! Still looking for a low-NLGI solution...
Welll... 2 years is a V small time window. I have 15 yr old Moly CV joint grease... that has yet to 'seperate' or degrade in any measurable way.
I'm not really concerned about lenses with LM47 that see regular use, but what about those that are stored for quite a long time?
