Had to contend with Harry Maguire telling him to calm down every single time he got himself of the crowd hyped up though!! it feels like he's scared of pace and aggression and see's being slow and calm as a sign of being in control... he does the exact same thing when we've got the ball, without any hesitation if Onana catches the ball he's got Maguire screaming at him to slow down...
The kid is having the game of his life and the crowd are responding to it and he's got someone who's supposedly an ex captain telling him he's doing something wrong... WIlly and Licha in the same back 4 will be an attitude to defending we've not seen in years

This is sacrilege I know but Bruno is going to be seen as a Robson figure in the fullness of time. He's often been the only one providing a moment of genius to get us some points. Yeah he's dramatic but you can't knock his commitment. He's always fit, he'll always chase down a cause, his goal reel is insane and he's never complained. We sold him a dream and he's had to shoulder multiple collapses.
Seen ppl criticising Bruno and I get it some of his passes got cut out etc but he saved united from 4 or 5 goals yesterday in 2nd half with work rate.
At one point he took a corner and then was last man defending after the move broke down.
I think Hoijland needs Bruno in 10 and to stay in there to get chances but I do think when they can put in someone alongside Mainoo that will fix issues.
For me atm I'd play Bruno deep as he can be the legs as casemiro seems to have lost it this season and play Amad or mount 10. Think that will actually help the team AND Hoijland. With Rashford injured play Mount #10 and Amad on right. Think that helps the team overall if its Bruno from deep alongside Mainoo.
Bruno is great and if Ole hadn't been screwed over he could have been his Cantona, I absolutely believe that. He's got better numbers than the King even, but Ole never got to actually build around him. Love Bruno a lot. Should be the 7, not Mount.

United have good spells in games and in those spells, they actually play really good football. They press well, move the ball around well, and create chances. That's the style Ten Hag is referring to. The inability to maintain it over 90 minutes is a sign that they are not there yet but building towards that.
Underrated comment- this team will be scary in time. Lose ETH and we will see him create history at Barca/Bayern or Real.
i agree.. yes they are consistently inconsistent throughout a full game.. But they often do have good moments.
Hopefully with a few good signings in the next window, they can go to the next level. And allow a ton less shots and improve GD too 😂

He's building a 3-1-6 attack and it requires composure and excellent decision-making in possession but quite often United have the ball turned over at the wrong time and in the wrong areas and that's why they get penetrated through time and again and concede so many shots.

@@adnanriaz9 facts man, i genuinely think don't fix it if it's not broken. ste, joel, rio had a great dynamic reacting to weekend football that i always used to look forward to. now it's bringing on guests that disrupts that dynamic, comparing mainoo, saka, palmer, foden every week to create a "viral" moment. if they just did what they're already good at, they'd grow organically. but this strategy is not the one. but im sure their marketing manager is getting paid a nice salary to make these dumb decisions and i'm just a fan ranting lol

the style of play is obvious, the players just can't do it for more then 20-30 minutes. if they could peg the opposition team back in their own half the way dominant teams do, then the style would make more sense. every game we start the same way, high press, attempt to move the ball quickly in possession, win it back quickly when dispossessed and play out from the back. but these all breakdown and then it looks like there is no "style"

when Martinez plays there are no huge gaps in midfield since the whole defense plays much higher up and he is fast and has great anticipation, easy to see this cant be done with Maguire. we need more CBs of his profile who are left footed

we started to see a style of play last year that took control of midfield, a team built on a strong defence to allow the midfield to play to their strengths - ETH didn't get his summer signings in a timely manner or in exactly the positions he needed (aside from the goalie) and with the injuries, has not had a consistent backline all season - much like Ole giving up his plans and trying to fit around Ronaldo, ETH has got them playing transition purely because that's all Bruno and Rashford can play in the absence of a strong defensive team core... they're the 2 'leaders' of the team/dressing room who are refusing to adapt

The thing is.. when our forwards press..the midfield also has to press.. now we get to our defense they hesitate on the press cause we lack the pace .. which then leaves a large hole in the middle.

the other team can play the same type of football because the players have similar base traits in the squad for the positions, of course they are unicorns like Rodri but if you take citys back line for example their is alway a player who can step into the Stones midfeild role be it Lewis or Ake albeit not as effective and still maintain the deffensive intergrity.

We've not had a settled defence all season. Varane is leaving this summer, so we need to sign a quality centre back as his replacement. Kambwala looks quality, but hes 19 years old, so he still needs time develop. Casemiro 32 now i think, so we need to look at signing a quality defensive midfielder. Mainoo is sick, but to me hes not a defensive midfielder, he more offensive. And maybe a striker as well, provide competition to Hojlund who's 21 himself. Some good young players coming through at United, and I'm 95% sure that Ten Hag is the guy to take United forward and get challenging and win the big competitions.
United have their good moments.. just no consistency/stability at all.
Injuries are part of the reason.. and I think perhaps they just don't have the squad depth or enough good reliable players to get some stability even while having so many injuries.
I also think Mainoo is probably going to be best as just a CM. Not AM or DM. He seems to have good ability to contribute in both attack and defence.
Mainoo is going to be mentioned in the same conversation as Keano, Robson, Scolesy and Carrick.

If he stays healthy, and if he stays at United then yeah it is a possibility, but the issue of playing him every week is that he could develop injury issues.

I get it we've been poor this season, but what can ten Hag do when the team wins the ball back and lose it within 30s. It's either players are not completing a 5 yard square pass or trying the impossible pass to someone marked out. Does ten Hag need to also make decisions for players on the pitch? How many times does Garnacho get brushed off the ball easily in promising moments? I get the agenda but the reality is we have kick and run merchants from Oles whom y'all expect to play like seasoned technical players at City or Arsenal. We haven’t got the players to control the game so our best chance is to play open as we know are players are best at counter attack and in transitions. I’d rather see this football than the park the bus Jose style or Ole style that was solely counter attack. Rangnick came in and wanted pressing and intensity and many player couldn’t hack it, Ten Hag is having similar problems with some players but we are lacking options right now.
True. We might as well go for broke. We have conceded more than we have scored this season. Its actually a miracle that we are 6th.

He wants to be pro active and win balls high up the pitch from our pressing which we do well at times but often don’t turn it into goals unfortunately and because we don’t have a defence that can play high right now we end up with space’s in the middle but the other side to that is when opposition starting committing players forward through midfield we then get our counter attack chances as well from turnovers. I like it and think it quite brave cos you know when we have players like Martinez, Shaw, Varane and just our best players match fit we can play much better, injuries have fucked us this season but under Ten Hag the youngsters continue to shine.

Gutted he will go to the euros. I wanted him to stay home an a serious strength and conditioning programme over the summer bayern style. His physicality has already improved massively but people need to stop turning a blind eye to his lack of speed and explosiveness at the minute. Aswell as getting the right players around him to create a balanced midfeild not the current ridiculous set up

Rio it is ETH’s style. Have a look at the clip of Ruud Gullit telling ETH he’s vacating the midfield too much at Ajax and it leaves the team too open. ETH replies by saying he’s willing to take that risk for other reasons. It’s what he wants. It’s mad.

it's because there is only 1 player who can read the game defensively in midfield, casemiro. the rest are terrible at it. You also need strikers who can read the game and read the danger. Shows how valuable a Wayne Rooney was to United for so many years.
The structure or lack of it therefore is all on ETH
There has been a dearth of world class players in the world, not just England but the world for more than a decade. 1998-2006 there were so many they were having those epic friendlies all the time where guys would actually turn up and play and have fun, so don't worry about whether Mainoo, Saka or Foden can be world class. Worry about if he/they can fulfill his/their potential first. You guys like getting ahead of yourselves and it's getting a bit much now, it's not about the debate and banter. Be realistic.

INEOS are to blame if/when we fail to get 5th. If they sacked ETH a few weeks ago and brought in a half decent interim manager, things would be different. The cost of sacking ETH pales in comparison to the cost of not making it into the championship league. We will struggle to attract top players who want to play at the highest level.

Shout out to Ten Hag for developing the young players into the best players in the team this season. Mainoo, Garnacho and now Kambwala. This coach will turn them into world class players. As for the senior players in the squad, they are not coachable and many need to leave. Give Ten Hag the time and he’ll build an amazing team around the likes of Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund and many more that are looking exciting in the academy.

Don't count your hopes to high on Ten Hag leaving. There are clearly missing ingredients in his recipe towards being a top team. I love Keane but not everything he says is right.
There is a system that is being put in place but as many ex-footballers are saying we are still a counter attacking team. How do one impose his system when he is to listen to amateur coaches and fans and to keep on playing the United way. I thought we United are an attacking team not a counter attacking side.
How long do you think a system should start working perfectly? Last season we finish 3rd and many thought that we would do better this season with the same pattern of play which is almost counter attacking. This season he brought in the players that he believes that would suit his style of play. You cannot see this because of the injuries to these type of players. I believe that he doesn't wanna wait for all of his signings then make the change. This team is in a learning transition towards a new style of play and he is taking the risk to do that.
I can see in games that some of the players don't have the winners heart. Maybe they have their own ideas that will suit their game. If you have half of the team thinking like that even if you were city or Liverpool, you will not function as a team.
Keane was in a team of lion hearts. Can you name eleven lion hearts in this current team? This team is a zoo. Worse o f all, it is filled with some rats that we are looking at!!
Ratclilff is a United fan and he mentioned in an interview before that United is and should be an exciting attacking team as we were always were. He also added that we must keep continuing the tradition of producing high quality youth players policy that we have always been successful with.
We are now producing the youths in Mainoo, Kwambala, Ganarcho and a few more to come next season.
You can see a system of play in the U18s and they are instructions from no other than the manager.
