Toru
I love seeing stuff like this! Always really cool to see people jumping into something new. Big props to to you for putting yourself out there like that and bringing a nice surprise to people's days!
Thank you! I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a great way to communicate with the locals!

Woah, this is pretty unique. Worth it. Sugoi. ;-;
VIVA MEXICOOOO!!
Toru you are just precious bless you sir.
That scene with the little girl ... I can't even
She was adorable!😭❤️
Toru-san your spanish is actually extremely good! It's so amazing to see a modern day ronin come to Mexico to teach the people! Thank you! We love samurai!!
Side note: That Kabuto Baseball helmet from the sword teacher was AWESOME!
How did you like Mexico by the way?
I loved it! I loved how Mexico City has lots of green even though it’s such a big city🌳 Oaxaca was also lovely with enriched culture and I loved interaction with the local in both cities!
Que buen español, saludos desde Perú ❤
Me encanta Peru! He estado alla hace mucho tiempo!
Genial saludos
Man This is so awesome! Funny thing, I trained in the use of katana in Michigan, United States. One of my teachers that came as a guest to my dojo was a real ninja (as in trained in ninjutsu in Japan), but he was from Mexico. I have a boken that he signed and it reads: Juan (with kanji letters on the other side for his name in Japanese). Juan Hernandez. So it must be surprisingly popular in Mexico!
In Mexico it seems to me that Japanese culture has been well received and I saw many Japanese inspired shops and restaurants. Usually Japanese related stores in LA are mostly run by Japanese but in Mexico it looked like many Japanese restaurants are run by the locals who genuinely love Japanese culture. I bet there are many Japanese martial arts enthusiasts as well.
All those people, who were eager to volunteer were so wholesome, especially the little girl. What a fun experience for everyone! 🥰
And it sounds like your Spanish has definitely improved since last time, have you been practicing?
I don't study much but I try to listen to some online material here and there. Also I go over my vocabulary note book for a few minutes occasionally! This trip definitely helped me improve my Spanish!
My listening is still terrible but I can sort of express myself now😆✊🏼
As a Mexican myself, this was unexpected to see. Just know that we love your culture over here to ridiculous degrees, even though in this case we oftentimes misunderstand what a real Samurai was like (thanks to Hollywood), but both anime and Kendo/Kenjutsu definitely have a strong presence around these parts if you know where to look; this is a country of weebs.
You can find some people who will know how to use a blade and understand what edge alignment is because most have used a machete at least once in their lives.
I actually did notice that when I was in Mexico city! I found many shops that had some Japanese influence!
If you find Japanese related shops in LA, it's founded by Japanese people for most of the cases but I think many of those shops in Mexico are run by Mexican people who love Japanese culture. In fact there was a cozy Japanese coffee shop right by where I was staying and it was by this Mexican owner who studied in Japan. It became one of my favorite spots!
Also interesting to know about machete. I actually believe most of Japanese people have not used a katana once in their lives in Japan...
Thank you for watching and also sharing your thoughts!🙏🏼
Hola Ricardo! Extraño Oaxaca mucho! Espero regresar a verte y tus gatos!🐈
HOLY SHIT HE SPEAK español.
also good video, your spanish is not bad at all 😺
Gracias! Estoy estudiando!
Bro, you know English, Spanish, and Japanese?! Such a talented brother! 🔥🐉
Not really there yet! But hopefully someday....!
This was a fun episode. You did well with your Spanish too. The little girl at the end was stronger than you though ;-)
Thank you! I mostly memorized in advance but it was still hard!😅
❤❤❤
Very good😂😂👌👏❤
La practica forja al maestro
Sensei usted me recuerda mucho a jin sakai
