My dryer was super hot to the touch even days after it was used. A check of the ignition port showed the gas flame was still lit even after the unit was turned off. While there are a number of reasons a dryer can overheat, the flame remaining lit is likely because of a faulty cycling thermostat.
In this video I show you step-by-step how to test the cycling thermostat to see if its faulty with no specialized tools other than a multimeter, which should be in every homeowners toolkit anyway. I then show you how to replace it and get your dryer safely operating again.
Because dryer fires are a leading cause of house fires, if your dryer is overheating, make sure to unplug it, turn off the gas, and find the problem right away!

THANKS FOR WATCHING! - Навчання та стиль
Thanks for covering the repair without unnecessary or incomplete parts. It is appreciated.
I just love it, testing the operating thermostat in an open frying pan over a flame!!! Thank you..!!
Heh. Make do with what you got :) cheers!
Great vid. Noticed at 6:45 you are measuring in C not F, lol. These thermostats are a real pain in the arse to test.
Great tutorial.
Cheers
Thanks! Glad you found it informative.
Do you post your content on Rumble and/or Odysee?
@@cri8tor I had posted a couple to Rumble but they get zero traction
Great Thanks now I know it should cycle on & off with over tempt... but what are the 2 purple wires ?? .My guess would be the start Button energizes this switch thur the purple wires but Not Sure any ideas ?? Thanks
The two purple wires are connected to the bias heater in the thermostat. The bias heater heats the thermostat when in low heat cycle to fool the thermostat into thinking dryer has reached temp to kill power to element.
You put the fuse back in wrong. It tucks into the housing. Also, the gas valve staying open and lit while off is more than a cycling thermo.
