I know during the civil war they wore complete wool suits in the heat but inversely they would come in handy at 4 am. Perhaps they wore buck skins over their wool
I think it would’ve been more of a mix, I know during winter they would wear a coat that was made from wool blankets in winter. They didn’t have a whole Lotta change of clothing. Because they were limited with space for food and trapping supplies. some larger groups would’ve also had trade goods. Leggings and breechcloth were easier to make then carrying a whole set of pants. I don’t think it was unheard of that. Some of their replacement clothing came from some of the different tribes or when they were at rendezvous.
Some did and some didn’t. I’ve seen buckskin in museums some pieces had fringes. In the Native American biographies I know some clothing was worn for ceremonial purposes only or maybe war. The man of the tribes would’ve spent most of their time trying to prove themselves and counting coo against their enemies.
