Music doesn't lie, that's what I like about it. Despite feuds, squabbles, who deserved credit, who had the last word, yada yada, the reality speaks truth - Randy Meisner was the gem in so many ways, the real star, and no Frey-Henley can hide that fact, he was the secret sauce in the best work of the Eagles. Period.
Rest in peace Randy. You were the most talented yet modest Eagle. You have left a beautiful legacy. Thank you. I hope you knew how loved and admired you were by your loyal fans.❤
I thought the way Timothy Schmit thanked Randy at the Hall of Fame induction was so heartfelt and appropriate.......it was my favorite moment hands down. And Randy's reaction was perfect, too.
You are right. Timothy B Schmidt is the only "current" Eagle I like. He has a kind face and a voice that resembles Randy's. He did give Randy his due at the Hall of Fame and it was gracious. Still, it was needed. There would be no Eagles without Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon. Gleny Frey and Don Henley have got too bloated with fame for their own good.
I would give anything for just one more song but I guess I'm going to have to be satisfied with the legacy Randy left behind... a year since he passed today so I came by for One More Song... one of my favourites. I hope he's at peace now 💔
You are so right brother... Randy was so unappreciated and he contributed so much to the Eagles. But I have a feeling as bad as it sounds that Randy could easily not be with us much longer and I wish I could just talk to him.
@@MrSnowdog02 Dennis, I feel the same way..... I don't want anyone to forget Randy and his contributions to The Eagles. His health has not been good in recent years, with a lot of emotional trauma also. He won't be around forever, please let's let Randy know his fans still love him and wish him peace 🎸♥️
It is hard to understand his lack of real solo success. He had the best voice in The Eagles and wrote sensitive lyrics. This sound is reminiscent of the Early Eagles and maybe, in the same way as the Eagles themselves had moved on to a more rock-inspired sound, so had the people who came to their concerts and bought their records. Maybe it takes some distance to really appreciate what a talented guy this was.
OK, I am amazed and you have got me. I still believe Randy was frightened out of the band. It had become too big and rock-God for him but maybe Henley and Frey were kinder, nicer individuals than I have ever given them credit for.
I have referred to the reasons Randy quit the Eagles elsewhere but I think Una has got it partly right in her post below. Glen and Don (H) were not as bad as they have been made out to be by some, although they wanted Randy to come up with more material and to be prolific. I think Randy never imagined the Eagles would go on to be so huge worldwide. What made him quit was exhaustion and the in-fighting mainly between Glen and Don (F) which led to the long vacation. The sad part was that when the Eagles were about to reform in 1993, Randy had called Azoff who had brushed him off. The story may have been different if he had spoken directly to Glen. Finally when the Eagles invited him to join them for the History of the Eagles tour, Randy was too ill in Hospital, however, when he was discharged he was most surprised to learn that Glen and the band had settled his bill. So there!
RANDY GOT RESPECT AND LOVE FROM SO MANY FANS AND FAMOUS MUSICIANS, HE PLAYED A LOT WITH THEM. WELL DONE RANDY YOU SUNG EVERYTHING YOU WANTED!! READ ABOUT HIM AND YOU FIND IT ALL.
I remember that the song "Heart's on Fire"made such an impression on me at age 9 or so even though it only made it to number 19 on the top 40 that I determined I would someday get the album when I was in a position to do so. Then the third solo project came out. (I didn't even know about the first one in 1978.) By the time I was finally able to buy whatever I wanted and was in college already, I was ready to drop 25 bucks to have it sent from New York or somewhere. That was 25 bucks I didn't have! Thankfully I was able to find it for a little less after scouring a ton of local stores, but I can't put a price on the stuff. Right now I have to find the 2003 collection and the 1978 collection, and the only limit I have now is how much I can get away with without my hubby getting mad at me! We long for one more song, or so many more… To that end I find myself praying for a miracle!
I love Timothy B. Smith's work with Poco and The Eagles, but Randy's contribution to the Eagles is so not respected. I bought Randy's solo stuff and some real gems like this song were ignored by the buying public. Randy had his problems hitting those high notes at the end of his run with the Eagles, but I will let others figure out what happened to make him leave/pushed out of the band.
Randy quit himself, he wanted away from the fights on and behind stages. Timothy ,Bernie,Don F., Walsh said there were always problems with Henley and Frey. (the 2 jerks). The best members left. Randy had more succes than the other once.

RIP dear Randy. We will never forget you ❤
Yeah but Tim was all class at the HOF induction when he spoke about Randy, and I know Randy really appreciated it.
Beautiful!!! The Eagles wrote song they thought would sell. Randy wrote from the heart.
Randy sang from the heart, you could literally feel the passion in his beautiful voice. ❤

The best Eagle, the trampled troubador, the dissed Minstrel, the betrayed brother

Well this might be reminiscient of the Eagles due to it was written by Jack Tempchin and Frey and Henley are doing backing vocals.
OK, I am amazed and you have got me. I still believe Randy was frightened out of the band. It had become too big and rock-God for him but maybe Henley and Frey were kinder, nicer individuals than I have ever given them credit for.
The Eagles wrote songs they thought would sell. Randy wasn't commercial. He wrote from the heart.

Schmidt can't touch Meisner.
So nice. X

I guess Frey and Henley gave the two thumbs down
Minor detail I know, Timothy B. Schmit.
Great song!
