im jealous of how you had a running engine available near you and a 125hp one at that. i am the only person in my city (portland oregon) that seems to have anything for these cars. its lonely.
Hello, also own a 924, mine is a 1977. I have the engine out, but I was surprised to see you didn't drop the subframe when removing the engine. I'm from the USA so maybe our oil pans are different? My oil pan would hit the subframe. Also I didn't know you could keep the bellhousing on the rear of the engine. This baffled me. Great work.
@@OnlyARoadtripAway ahh yes, I could have done that but I needed an alignment anyhow. Just curious as it didn't seem as though you took out the subframe.
Good luck with that in Germany. Plus I am not the kinda guy to swap a different engine in, especially a modern one. Within the series of the car, maybe. I do love those crazy 944 1.8T conversions.
Broken valve, worn out piston rings, blown headgasket - I've pulled these engines more than once... Can't own one of these without the proper tools too...

Perks of living within a 2hr radius from Porsche HQ. I could even have a running turbo engine within half a day. ✌🏼
😊👍

The subframe was lowered and hung by the steering rods. No need to fully remove it or you need an alignment.

You can actually do it without dropping, but it is a royal pain in the b*tt.
Next time put the VW 1.8T there is a lot of people doing that swap!

Shit like this is lowkey my biggest fear.
Great job on this tho.

we need another vans engine!
Is nt the timing belt too tight ? Makes a lot of low end noise at idle
And that is the reason the belt is now buried on a hill in Lithuania. Somehow I overdid it. 😬
Ouch ! Happenend to me once on a peugeot 106, not a plesant surprise
love it
What is the reason of fail of the engine? Is it well known reason? Or the engine to old?
Oh the engine was just old and worn out. I trashed it brutally hard over years on the road.
