      She really seems comfortable on this video. That's wonderful. The two of you are enjoyable to watch. She covered the goat information so good. Best I've seen on this subject. God bless

    When I was a younger we had a young filly that got tangle up in a barb wire fence and she struggled and tore a pretty good in her leg. Carried her to out vet and he gave us a syringe and some what was called a generically Blue lotion it was an antibiotic and we , I had to fill the syringe and use the Blue lotion every day to flush the wound.... it was a topical my dad used it when he cut
    Boar pigs it prevented infection.

    Good interview technique, guys :-) Interesting information about caring for goats from a nurse's perspective. Really enjoying everything I'm learning about establishing a farm. Many thanks . . .

    My father in law raised goats for many years, and now we are as well. We never deworm the goats unless there is a problem. They can develope a resistance to the meds.

    Love your videos 👍 watched all your log cabin build in one day! I was mesmerized 👌 regarding worming for your goats to prevent your livestock becoming immune to medication! If you have water troughs try introducing goldfish or other hardy fish to the water troughs as they eat parasite eggs and larva should help with control of bacteria and worms... Just a farming tip and trick from my farming background 👍 great work love your homestead

      Just a note...It's the worms/parasites that become tolerant or immune to the wormer medication.

    I think I would build a room at one end of the barn for feed and supplies that animals cant get in to and the med box is always easy to find quickly. Lots of animals quickly learn to open feed canisters!! You will need a place to hang shovels and rakes and ropes, halters, and buckets too. I have metal garbage cans too, and each is labeled, so if someone has to feed doesnt mix feeds. I need another one for wood shavings for the chicken nests too! I keep meds and castrating rings in the butter area in the frig. I still use equipment in the barn that we bought 40 years ago so not a waste of money for sure!!! A general vet book is helpful too. All I can think of right now!!! I really enjoy watching your progress!!!!!

      What's the significance of keeping castration rings in the fridge or am I not reading your comment correctly?

  • @gaylerobison9518
    @gaylerobison9518 4 роки тому

    You need a secure, dedicated feed and supply storage room. And you need a dedicated hospital stall next to it. Maybe down at the far end of the barn by the small door.

    Put some apple cider vinegar in their water to build up their immune system. Good luck with the goats. The babies are so so cute.

    Even though she has her kids for company, Mama may benefit from another adult goat for company and "guard". Alfalfa is pretty high in protein. It may be too "hot" for them to eat free-choice.

    Goats like seaweed also and they won’t eat the hay after they go to the bathroom on it and you should get some stumps they love to jump around on them should look in to Punkin’s I see people give them to their goats for worms👍👍👍👍👍🐐

  • @hxFubar

    Awesome, do you plan to move them around the property to clean up the brush or are you going to do what with other animals in the future?

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  5 років тому +1

      No plans for that at the moment. The plan is to fence in pasture, so we can purchase any type of grazing animal. We may fence in some brushy areas later to keep goats or pigs in. But pastures come first.
      That being said, some electric netting may be necessary to protect chicken tractors, so if we end up with electric netting, we may use it to move goats around to different areas when we aren't raising chickens.

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  5 років тому

      One of the guys I work with has a milking stand he said I could have. We might give it a shot, if we get that milking stand. But we are really busy and don't have a lot of extra time. We will just wait and see.

    Thanks for sharing all you have done so far for your goats. I just watched a video from Anne of All Trades. Her goat just kidded. She went over a number of items she keeps on hand for her goats, including a wash cloth and hairdryer. She also adds molasses to the mama goat's water to encourage her to stay hydrated. Check her our, if you are not subscribed.
