Just an update. The discord has almost doubled since this video and has partnered with multiple tournament organizers aaaannnd it still growing steadily!
Another important thing to know is that if the DM specifies a monster by name and that monster belongs to an archetype, that archetype is part of the domain. For example, red-eyes dark dragoon has access to all "dark magician" and "red-eyes" monsters.
Is "Dark Magician" an archetype? AFAIK no card calls out "Dark Magician" cards. "Dark Magician" is mentioned as the name of a specific card but never as part of a card name that's shared across multiple cards.
Thanks a lot for this video and for the channel, been seeing the matches and they are a lot of fun. I convinced some friends to try out the format, we made a small group here in Brazil to try out next time we play. Everyone is having fun trying to bring their favorite archetypes to the format (myself with Satellite Warrior as my Deckmaster, to bring Synchron ,Stardust and Warriors all togheter). This is what Yugioh needed the most, it fixes so much of the problems: - Multiplayer to interact and have fun with more people; - Trash out the extensive banlist but the one card rule balances that. Even if Painful Choice is really strong, is 1 card out of 60, you have to get lucky to pull it off; - Cards that normally wouldn't be played in standart mode now have a reason to be used (Top Share can set up your follow up and forge an alliance with someone of the table, is so good).

Not to mention there are archetypes that really shine in Domain that never had a chance in advanced. Charmers for example, can be really strong in domain. Before this format, if you told me that charmers could beat Yubel, Dark world, and Fire King Snake-eye I would believe you but in domain it's possible.
New rules update for the section at 06:04 From the official domain discord: There is going to be a rather large rules update going into effect after the tournament at the end of this month. They are as follows. The ATK and DEF clauses are going to be removed from what defines a Deck Master's Domain. -The reason for the ATK/DEF item is there are only about 20 cards that do this and most of them functionally work on the other parts of their DM's Domain and the ones that don't are pretty much the visas starfrost clones that don't really have synergy between their archetypes anyways. As well as a wild amount of confusion that seems to come up regularly for a mechanic that for the most part is not used. Reminder text, except for "this card is not treated as....", will be a part of a Deck Master's Domain. This includes token text. -In previous R&D it was determined to cause complications with the ATK/DEF clauses. With those no longer being a thing that effectively hits 2 birds with 1 stone. Also, as time has progressed it has become blatantly clear that wide domains are not inherently an identifier for a decks power level so much as player skill and deck optimization. By this I mean we have seen decks with 1 type and 1 attribute play at the same level as decks that let you play everything or nearly everything. You are welcome to voice your opinions but please keep in mind that this is not up for debate. The Admin team and even the development team have had multiple conversations . Play however you want but this goes into effect October 27th 2024
I had an idea for the salamangreat deck and it's like duel links skills, where salad players have at least the right to use one copy of each salamangreat in the extra deck
This sounds pretty cool. Nice to see Yugioh players finally trying to build communities that support alternate formats. Also, as someone who likes MtG and the Commander format, I very much appreciate how well you've tried to replicate the parts of that ruleset that make it interesting. It's clear that thought is being put into what makes the format a more interesting experience than the normal game.
This is a really competent translation of the Commander format into the Yugioh game structure, really well done. The domain rules is really cool and well executed, although a part of me thinks it might hurt deck creativity in some aspects, given that MTG is a different beast than Yugioh, the limitation there addresses the problems with a large Magic card pool, but I'm not sure if it cleanly addresses the same in Yugioh given it is more archetype/stables dependant, but that is just an inital concern with the caveat that the idea is really neatly executed. The one real thing I'm unsure of is the zones in multiplayer, I completely understand that it's tough to make it work, but I feel like something more integrated between all players is more fitting, like maybe the arrows pointing upwards, left and right could also point to the same zone for each of your opponents too.
Yeah lining up zones virtually would be better, especially for column reliant cards like Imperm. Though there is the issue of Extra Monster Zones. If two players have already taken up the left and right EMZs, do the other two get to use the zones that are virtually occupied already?
Yeah there’s no good way to do it in yugioh unless you completely get rid of links and ban any column based cards to avoid any issues. The way it’s set up now omits any confusion
Restrictions breed creativity usually, more often than they stifle it. Commander is a good example. Those deckbuilding restrictions end up meaning a significantly larger number of decks are used, rather that fewer. Yugioh's archetypal locks already do this to an extent. But, the domain rules seem to include basically any card you could even theoretically want to include in a deck. What's most interesting is that it heavily discourages generic staples as a Deck Master, and that'll be a great thing for the format. As far as zones go, I don't think there's really a problem with the way this is done. Infinite Impermanence becomes WAY too strong if it can lock out more than one spell/trap zone at a time, and link summons become even easier to abuse if you start adding additional arrows to make your zones usable for them. Having two players be paired up works well for this. Multiplayer itself is a whole different beast from a 1v1, and the differences end up mattering a lot.
Just want to share this, as I also play Duel Commander. Boy, 8yrs ago, we also made almost the same thing, also inspired by commander-variant called Duel Commander and anime's Deckmaster(Noa's Arc), which focused in 1v1 competitive, we also called it DM(Deckmaster) We used TRAITS insted of DOMAIN, we also allow 3copies of Normal monsters, and effect monster if an effect needs another copy(like giant germs etc etc), as well as requirements for summon(like cyber dragon for cyber end dragon, and you can only include 3 cyber dragon if your DM is cyber end or you have a Cyber end in your extra deck), and note that DM can't have multiple copies on your deck. As for ban-list, we used the combined R&B list of OCG&TCG, with a twist, you can choose 1 card from the banned list to include in your deck, whipe R1&R2, can still be included in your deck but can't bypass the singleton, and lastly you can't choose a DM that's in Banned, R1&R2 list. We also pay 500 right out the gates when we summon the DM then accumulate from there just like yours, with a regen counter(also accumulate)that will be removed during standby, it acts like a cooldown, so you can't spam your DM. A main deck of 60(including your DM), extra deck of up to 15, sideboard of up to 15(including an optional sub-DM, should have similar traits to your main DM). We'll definitely try this for multiplayer, that said, just sharing some ideas if you ever want to go 1v1 competitive. Great minds, think alike. Kudos!
I have been waiting for this in Yu-Gi-Oh!, I hope this gets more developed. I actually played with some friends in 3 player duel one time and being 3rd was pretty broken in that, just like going first was, if you had enough ways to protect yourself, but it was hilarious.
They printed cards past standard straight into eternal formats. And not just one of em all of em. And all those cards are legal in commander baring the banlist

Huge fan of this. Will be subbing for more. I did a very similar concept with friends where Extra Deck monsters were locked to a Main Deck quota - ie, to play Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, you need 5+ Speedroids in your Deck, to play a generic card like Splash Mage, you need 5+ non-archetypal Cyberse. If this is anything like my friend group’s concept, the games are a lot of fun and deck building is a blast. Already trying to brew ideas in my head. Great video.
It's so good! I had to build some extra decks and keep them on me to convince them the first time, but after that they started building what they like and the rest is history 😎

Both of your points have come up many times in the formats existence. The fact you have three opponents, plays a huge role in self regulating games. I have a video of a tear player starting off with painful choice and popping off. He still lost. Also, what if I told you there are plenty of cards that can accrue *more* card advantage than pot of greed due to the four players? Last turn is so insanely hard to pull off, even harder if they know you have it. I’ve never seen it resolve. But if it could be busted, I’d love to see it. We encourage people to push the format to its limits!
I like it! its kind of similar to playing commander format for magic the gathering, except they use a 100 cards for the deck. Dude would actually feel like anime, cuz most of the time they use multiple copies of a card. I'm down for it! lets make this format popular guys lets go!!!!!!

I love playing alt formats so I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one! Sadly, the same thing can't be said about my friends. All Yugioh players I know would rather play Pokemon than any alt Yugioh format. I've tried to convince them multiple times to play Edison, Goat, and even a self-made format about using only cards that have 4 or less lines of text, but... I guess people at my locals dislike trying new things.
I can definitely relate. The guys at my LGS were a bit iffy to start. But I made and kept four spare domain decks on me and eventually they gave it a try since I had extra decks they could borrow. But also, you should join the discord! Theres over 1200 people playing remote games, or simulator games everyday. It's a cool place to be, and you could get some experience playing the format 😎
I feel ABC could be really fun with this Edit: for EMZ i feel a “taking the first napkin” rule could be implemented, where once someone plays a card in lets say their right EMZ players can then only use their right EMZ until all have been emptied at which point the next person to play selects again.

This sounds super awesome. I’m going to work on an exodia deck using the cards I own. All the dark or fiend links I can fit into my extra deck and draw spells. I gotta check to see how many generic links fit those descriptions but ultimate offering should be a good combo card. It would cost 6000 LP to do it all in one turn though.

100% love this. I've always thought Yugioh's biggest issue was it's lack of formats (mainly official ones). Goat and Edison are fun but limiting cards to a specific date leaves no room for any change. Domain Format sounds like a lot of fun and I would love to see it see more play and hopefully become an official format. I do have a couple questions though. Is there a particular for making it Singleton? And is this just a 4-player format or is it for the standard 1v1 too (Just am a little confused on it)?
6:19 Man, this last rule gave me a wild thought...imagine if the rule involved not just specific ATK/DEF values but also specific Levels. Spright would be going wild, but another hilarious one would be a personal favorite of mine: Yakusa, Lord of Eight Thunders. Inherent special summon that works specifically with Level/Rank 8 monsters similarly to Sprights with Level/Rank 2s but the rule applying to listed Levels in the text would open up an insane Rank 8 toolbox.
I love this but i have 1 major gripe. It seems one thing may have been critically overlooked but it’s possible i missed it in my multiple viewings so please correct me if im wrong here. The current rules for the deck master’s domain (or yugioh version of color identity) are as follows: 1) types and attributes found on the card or its text 2) cards that share an archetype with the card or one mentioned in its text 3) the monarch ATK/DEF clause. However it seems that the obvious clause of “cards that mention this monster by name” and/or “cards that this card mentions by name” are missing? This directly excludes certain cards from being deck masters of cards meant to be played together with them in konamis card designs like “fallen of albaz” “Visas starfrost” and im pretty sure it excludes many “dark magician” and “Blue eyes white dragon” support cards as well (if they are your deckmaster.
If your deckmaster mentions a monster by name, you can play it. Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous can play Fallen of Albaz since she mentions him by name. But just because something in your deck mentions your deckmaster, doesn’t mean it’s part of the domain. If Visas Starfrost was your deckmaster, you couldn’t play Vicious Astraloud, since Astroloud isn’t Light or a Warrior. You could still build a Visas lore deck, but you would have to play something with access to many attributes, like Elysium.

The current ruleset would have Visas starfrost (for example) as a deckmaster, with a “domain” that is excluding the multitude of cards that specifically name him… by name. AKA the multitude of cards specifically meant to work and function with him by card design and name him for that reason. It seems like a bit of an oversight because this ignores the flavor of these cards “domains” and ignores the card design behind these cards being meant to be played together. Visas starfrost is just one example, this also excludes cards like fallen of albaz, and I believe some of the blue eyes white dragon snd dark magician support cards
@@cooldes4593 so build your Visas Lore deck with Elysium as the Master, and run the 1 copy of every Scareclaw, Tearlament, Kashtira, and Mannadium card you can.
That sounds like a really cool format, but if you can choose combo starters like Snake Eye Ash as deckmaster, then I'll have exactly the same end boards on the first turn as in the Master Rule format.
@@output4794 You could only use either Pyro and/or FIRE monster to build that board. So no Apollousa, no SP Little Night, no linkuriboh, no fiendsmith stuff. Not saying you couldn’t get to Fire Princess plus other interactions, but the deck isn’t nearly as powerful when you got three opponents that can archenemy you at any time. Lots of people come in saying this is already solved or not different than TCG, or whatever. But the format plays quite different.
Love this! will be playing soon with some friends. One question: how do Attack Replays work in Domain? if someone attacks me directly and i play Scapegoat, would they now have the option to direct that attack at another player or another player's monster?
@@Trystaticus yup! If you declare an attack on anyone or anything, and any of the monsters change on anyone’s field, you get to redeclare the attack however you you’d like!
This sounds cool. Basically a commander format for Yugioh. Also is there an exception to the singleton rule for cards that require multiple copies of itself (like Giant Germ, Nimble Momonga, Destiny Hero - Malicious etc.)? After all, MTG has cards that state that a deck can run any number of copies of them, and those are given a pass from the singleton rule. And what about monsters that require two or more of the same monster to summon, like Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon or Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon?
@@Z-one1000 everything is limited to one copy. You can always ask your playgroup if everyone is okay with changing that a bit. But there’s still plenty of ways to summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, fusion subs, fusion armament, most people find creative ways to make stuff work.
The solution for us people that hate playing modern today haha, and hey if you modern it's all good! I just think introducing new formats to yugioh would bring a lot of the older, and newer player to the game
@@zerorock41 you can’t make 100% of decks work at 100% capacity in a singleton environment. No decks work at 100% capacity in Domain as compared to advanced. The challenge is part of the fun. It breeds creativity. The vast majority of decks can function in domain. If the rules got changed to favor thunder dragons, it would make everyone want exceptions for their decks.
Hi there, i have a question. So what about levels when talking about a domain? Because there are archetypes like spright that make level/rank their whole gimmick. Let’s take for example spright blue as a deck master. Of course you’d have access to all Spright, Thunder and Dark monsters, but i feel like a big chunk of the power of the deck is cut by not allowing cards like the Nimble engine or Toadally Awesome to be played. Regardless to that, the idea of this format seems incredible, i really hope more people start playing it because it would be the best way to play casual yugioh periodt
Level/rank aren’t part of a domain. I actually have a game where my bud Steafen plays frog/spright. The deck is totally still buildable. You can always go with Dark Doriado or Elysium for most attributes available to just play piles of whatever you want.
Just doing some thinking about this and had a bunch of ruling questions. Sorry if these are difficult. 1. If a monster can only be summoned by activated effect, does that mean it can never be summoned as a deck master? Example: Malefic Truth Dragon 2. Can the deckmaster be summoned several times per turn provided its summoning method is still valid? I feel like some broken combos could come from this from cards that are special summonable and are not once per turn. 3. Can the CTS tax be manipulated by cards like Prime Material Dragon, One Day of Peace, etc? 4. Are cards that share any words/characters an archytype? Examples: Dark Magician (DM) + Dark Hole Dragon + Darklord Zerato... Ryko, Twilightsworn Fighter (DM) + Lightsworn Dragonling + Amazoness Fighter + Evening Twilight Knight... Yubel the Ultimate Nightmare (DM) + Nibiru, the Primal Being...
All great questions! 1) Yeah some monsters could be unsummonable as deckmasters. Melefic Truth would be stuck in the deckmaster zone. 2) Yes, I have a Gladiator Beast deck that has Test Tiger as the DM. I can basically summon it as much as my life points allow. But going down to 500LP is not ideal, and essentially balances that. 3) No you cannot avoid the tax. It is a cost to summon. 4) No, everything I listed are the only things that are considered for a domain of a deckmaster. non-archetype words in the title is not one of them.
Only downside to these rules are that decks like salamangreats that requires you to sac identical copies for additional effects lose a lot of effectiveness. But outside of that, this seems really fun. Maybe i can convince my Magic friend group to try yugioh for once
Once I built four decks, to let others borrow, and I convinced them to play a game they were all hooked! They almost immediately after playing, built their own decks to try out in the format. It was like magic xD
@@yugiohcommander I spent like an hour trying to sus out if there was any logic to why Ancient Gear Spark Shot only damaged one player vs. Ultimate Ancient Gear Hunting Hound halving all opponents' LP, and I decided that it comes from the fact that the former specifies an amount of damage dealt to your opponent (half of a summoned Ancient Gear monster's ATK) vs. the latter just halving your opponent's LP when Fusion Summoned. Well, that and the Obelisk Force's combo was cooler that way.
The deckmaster stuff sounds fun, but I'm mostly intrigued by having to play 60 different cards in your deck. I'm just tired of how hyper-consistent yugioh decks are now, making every duel the same.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised that the ability to do consistent things isn't shot down that much but it's more of you can do more things with the wider variation of cards you are forced to play. And it's not doing the same thing every turn.
This is an intriguing take on the deck master format. Though it seems to me that picking the deck master is best picked for the domain than summoning it. Or for archetypes, having the deck master be the "starter" to get the guaranteed play in their opening turn... In regards to the singleton aspect, do cards like the harpie lady 1-3 still count as the same card?
There's actually about three "roles" a deckmaster fills. 1)A starter for what you're archetype does. Stratos and the like. 2)A recurrable boss monster that no one can indefinitely get rid of. Red-Eyes Dragoon was a spicy one I saw. 3)A deck master that purely fills the type of Domain you would like to build under. Elysium is a popular one as it grants access to any attribute.
@@yugiohcommander I'm in the process of testing a conversion of my current master duel deck into domain format, and actually finding that most of the cards I've been using share domain as a side effect of my deck building preferences in general. The only tricky part is filling out the rest of the 60 deck. And considering contingencies because having to defend against potentially three battle phases before your turn is a daunting prospect.
Sounds good on paper, but there ABSOLUTELY needs to be a deck master banlist. For example, if I use Vanity’s Fiend, what’s stopping me from running all dark fiends that summon themselves as tribute fodder (i.e almost every playable dark world card)?
Most people are playing dark hole/torrential/needle ceiling. Vanity Fiend is only powerful going first, and even if you do get it, there’s plenty of answers.
@@josephcourtright8071 People pick Elysium all the time as a deckmaster. Gives you access to all 6 attributes. Hasn’t been an issue yet. We always encourage people to come try busting the format though 😉
Sure you can sit on 1 Vanity’s, but now 3 other players are devoting all their resources to taking you out. The format forces you to add a bunch of staples to your deck already, so you have 3 players who possibly opens Book of Moon/Change of Heart/Raigeki/etc.
@@plutoniumsword cool, they have to draw the unsearchable 1-ofs in a 60-card deck to the Vanity’s I always have access to, AND if they out it I can just summon it again next turn. Also just as they can draw the outs to Vanity’s, I can just as easily deckbuild to add cards that protect it (lance/dress/safe zone etc.) The point here is that having an easily summonable floodgate monster effectively in your hand at all times makes for a very toxic gameplay experience imo and needs addressing with a banlist
Justify would at least still be a monster negate, depending on the specific S-force monster you could splash in some other interesting synergies. I've heard of domain format but it was many years back, imma give it a shot.
I mean the easiest way to think of it is two sets of players next to eachother. Or you could crisscross too. Doesn't matter where you put your deck master really. As long as everyone is able to see it when you start
this is great, but i can only see this competitively used for having your best starter 24/7, but this may also have to face border breakers and opposition from 3 other players. sounds interesting
It's totally possible. I've played 5 player games myself. You just pair up as much as possible for field/columns, and the odd one out plays as if they have no one that they share columns with.
Extra deck monsters, do they have to be withing the deck Master's domain. Example Deck Master is Junk Synchron, extra deck contains Sooting Star Dragon
@@str83dge4real yeah the extra deck has the same restrictions. The extra and main deck monsters have to be within the deckmasters domain. Junk synchron wouldn’t be able to play Shooting Star Dragon in the extra. I know some people have built a junk/synchron/dust dragon deck. So I know it’s possible.
Actually seems pretty solid, would be great to have another format in the game. Only 2 things that I think could have value in changing(or at least testing) is 1) You could have the filed check at the end of a turn, and if there are only 2 players remaining and they have no interfering zones *then* the fields align. Would allow link based decks and other column cards to have more playability as well as making paying attention to the other players in the pod more important to make sure that wont hurt you later instead of just focusing on the guy in front of you. And 2) Increase the deck master cost to start at 1000 for the first recast, obviously I cant say without testing and after doing the math (see below) its basically only a 1 summon change, but I think it would go far to not allow degenerate stuff to happen as much and deincentivize people to spam summon the guy too many times early on, which is something I see levied against this kinda format a lot. Bonus 3) Ban list is going to need to be a thing, but I think letting it play out a bit before just auto banning stuff is smart. As long as real though and testing goes into cards as they do eventually get added to the list Start at 1k and increase 500, first summon free, amount taken on that summon, (total damage taken): 2. 1000 3. 1500 (2500) 4. 2000 (4500) 5. 2500 (7000) I think 5 summons if you can keep your life up sounds decent to me Starting at 500: 2. 500 3. 1000 (1500) 4. 1500 (3000) 5. 2000 (5000) 6. 2500 (7500) its only one more summon, but im more focused on the first few being so cheap that the burn might not even matter
So with hand traps at 1 if you can even use them to begin with, what stops my Dragon Link pile from just turing this into regular Yu-Gi-Oh except I have a free Redmed, or some starter in hand every game for free?
@@loverofjesusMKII Dragon Link is very good! There’s nothing stopping you really. You may find that it won’t be so easy to keep a board through three turns and survive through battle phases though! Even still you should give it a try! The formats really fun.
I think my biggest criticism for this format would be the hard 60 card requirement combined with singleton cards. I think taking one of those away while keeping the other would be fine.

Hi! This is my first time hearing about this format and I'm excited to try it out. But I have some questions regarding cards with the same name. I know only one copy of a card is playable, but does that rule also apply for those cards that need multiple copy of the same card to work properly? For example Jackpot 7 or even Photon Caesar. And also, some cards are always treated as another, for example Pacifis, which is always treated as Umi. Can I play them both or do I have to choose between them?
Hi there! I'd be happy to answer your Q's. 1) regarding cards that require multiples to function. Those are still at one per deck, no exceptions. Those cards just don't see play. 2)Cards that are "always treated as X" count as the card toward deck limits. So you would have to pick between Pacifis, or Umi. But you can still play things that count as Umi in play or GY. II love answering Q's so feel free to hit me up anytime!
there are a couple cards i would put in the banlist from the start, like the "you win the match" cards and pay x life spam fusion monster from the extra deck otherwise i look forward to where this ends up

So i just learned about this yesterday and I am putting a deck together and see what i come up with especially for one of my favorite decks but i want to ask a question. So i want to choose my deck master to be reptilianne viper or lamia and so i was gonna ask to clarify they both have text that mention 0 atk which means i could use the hand traps like ghost belle or pretty much most of them honeslty however i just noticed your pinned comment which if i understand this correct this no longer works i cannot use ghost belle or the 0 atk hand traps. Which kind of sucks because they have different uses with my reptile deck like for example reptilianne vaskii but i can understand the confusion it might cause. Just wanted to ask to make sure since i only leanred about it yesterday and I'm trying to craft my first deck.

@@majoojavkoo7715I have never played Domain but I have played a boat load of Commander in MTG and I can tell you with certainty that in MTG employing the strategy you suggest here (i.e. running a random card because it gives you access to all cards) is not only going to make for a pretty weak deck but also defeats the purpose of the format; to build interesting decks that you can play with your friends for fun. If there were a card that was all attributes and it was just a plain really good card then yes that would be good and probably warrant banning.
@majoojavkoo7715 because the deck isn't going to be as consistent as having that additional 7th card. Like elysium. Isn't going to be as consistent as skullcrobat joker that you will just have. That being said playing something like elysium lapuilla mana is a legit move. We have almost 4 years of people trying to break it and it has shown to be a valid trade off but not broken. Maybe you will be the one to do it?
Another question I have I wanna clear up. I watched the other video that was posted on Reddit for domain format, which seems a bit older. The examples for figuring out your DM’s archetype are a little different in both videos. In the first video Summoned Skull was used as an example and it’s archetype was: “Summoned,” “Summon,” “Skull,” “Archfiend”, “Arch,” and “Fiend”. In the example on this video the archetype was just Fur Hire and nothing else from its name. Did that change?
That’s a really old video. We used more complicated rules to determine archetypes back then. We simplified the archetype rule to what I explained in this video. If an archetype word is in the title or text in quotations, you have access to the archetype. We have a list of all the official archetypes in the discord. So any fur hire card has access to all fur hire cards. Summoned skull has access to Dark, Fiend and/or any “archfiend” monster, because he’s always treated as an “archfiend” monster.
We're deck building now so I came back to review your video. I got another question. If we can check our commanders text box for listed attributes do we count monsters with attributes in their text box? Example being if my commander is "ancient warriors ingenious zhuge Kong" can I run "dark simorgh?"
Good question! But no, you don’t check cards in your deck for any references in their text. You only ever check your deckmaster for its available cards. Zhuge Kong could play any Wind, Beast-Warrior, and/or any “Ancient Warrior” monster.

@@Mekmassimochannel whether you activate it in pend scale, or pendulum summon it, it’s the same count. You can go back and forth, but the tax accumulates each time. Not separately.
Does the Deckmaster count towards your 60? I'm asking before I fully watch so maybe I'm shotgunning too early but- you mentioned deck must be 60 but is it like- 60 + Deckmaster or is it 59 + Deckmaster? Makes things weird too considering Extra Deck monsters could be Deckmasters- it just confuses me- is it a 61 card deck or a 59 card deck? And if your Deckmaster is a Extra Deck monster do you still get 15 Extra or does it become 14?

So, Going by that logic, if I choose 5headed link dragon as my Deckmaster, I get to play Dragons and or just dragons of the Attributes it mentions in it's Text?
@@TheRealJohnux you could play any monster that matches even one of those things. If that was your deckmaster you could play any dragon(regardless of what attribute it is), and/or any dark, earth, fire, wind, water monster, (even if it’s not a dragon). Hope that makes sense!
So if I was to Choose Salamangreat of Fire as my deckmaster, i could then play any Cyberse and any fire monster in my deck. So i could also include lady debug/emp meowmine/ash blossom in the maindeck, and then any fire or cyberse monster in the extra deck as well correct? Just trying to get my bearings to the format. And are extra deck specific monsters all limited to one as well i assume?
The domain and singleton restrictions are also applied to the extra deck as well. And yes you could run those cards with salamangreat of fire as deck master. You nailed it!

@@roberttucker3194 deckmasters have no abilities in the deckmaster zone, except the ones involving summoning conditions/requirements. Deckmasters can’t activate abilities in the DMZ, and any other continuous effects they have don’t affect the game from the DMZ. 😎
So question (since I don't have discord) if a monster is part of a loreverse like world chalice, the abyss, sinful spoils are they included too in terms of deckbuilding?
@@redmastergamer64 an archetype has two requirements 1)shares a word or title component in their titles. 2)there are effects referencing that title or name component. Cards being related in lore doesn’t matter for Domains. The Sinful Spoils archetype isn’t part of the White Forest archetype, but sinful spoils cards are support for the white forest archetype.
@@yugiohcommander Yeah, I leaned into lifegain for it as well. Psychic End Punisher is a big wincon. One of the things I really love about this format is it makes a lot of cards that would otherwise be unviable into important includes. My fire fist deck runs basically all of them.

What happens when a card like Relinquished line mons equip your deck master? Or they are made a continuous spell like snake eyes? Cause otherwise that would disable your deck master until you use convoluted ways
Question. If My deck master was Lovevly labrynth of the silver castle, would she be summonable by welcome labrynth or big welcome labrynth? Also, if my deck master was lady labrynth or labrynth archfied, would they be able to special summon themselves by their effects since it's an activated effect?
@@lefteron6804anything that lets you special from hand/deck doesn’t work from the deckmaster zone, since that’s not your hand or deck. So no, you wouldn’t be able to special your deckmaster with Big or Welcome Labrynth. And no, Lady Lab nor Lab archfiend can use their activated effects to summon themselves from the deckmaster zone. With all three of those monster, you would have to tribute summon them, or Pendulum summon them while you have the correct scales. I play and love my Lab deck, I would go with either Arianna or Ariane for the deckmaster.
@@yugiohcommander now that I think about it, if I can have only one copy of each labrynth trap, the labrynth deck doesn't seem very good. It's gameplan is focused on going to the grind game, but that isn't really an option if you have so few labrynth cards to set with the furniture. Do you have a list I could look at? I've been cooking something, but I still haven't reach 40 cards and I'm struggling.

so...if i were to play starry knight astel as my deckmaster... its a Light/fairy so i can play any lights or fairies...its a starry knight so i can play other stary knight monsters and the text specifically mentions dragons so i can run any dragon i want as well? but that leaves one question..what exactly is the benifit of having a particular deckmaster...you mentioned continues effects,so does that mean having jinzo as my deckmaster would mean all traps are negated from the start?
You got the Starry Knight domain down perfect! Not too shabby if I do say so myself. No, you don't get any effects while your deckmaster is in the deckmaster zone. It just sits there until you properly summon it. I go into the different archetypes deckmasters seem to fall into in my "Domain Format basic introduction" video, around 4 minutes

We play simulator duels on Untap.in, Tabletop mod, or Duel Monsters Genesis. The people in the discord could show you those, and/or how to set them up. Untap is the easiest to set up. I've played tons of games on untap myself
Still a pinch unclear on one thing: does your deck master count toward the 60-card count, or is it technically a 61st? Also, can a Meklord Emperor be a Deck Master, and be summoned from the Deck Master Zone?
I summon my commander, it's a fusion monster, I use the 2 monsters and poly, and they all go to the graveyard. My commander goes back to the command zone.. I have to get back those fusion materials from the grave in order to summon my commander again, right?
Yeah there’s some ways to mitigate that hurdle. Things like fusion substitutes and other polymerization support like Fusion Recycling Plant. If you ever want help deck building, make a post in the discord and I’m sure people will be happy to help suggest cards for ya!
So if I would pick Bystial Magnamhut as my deckmaster I wouldn't be able to summon him with his effect? In MTG if commander has flash (flash=quick effect in magic) you can summon him on every turn

Just an update. The discord has almost doubled since this video and has partnered with multiple tournament organizers aaaannnd it still growing steadily!
Another important thing to know is that if the DM specifies a monster by name and that monster belongs to an archetype, that archetype is part of the domain.
For example, red-eyes dark dragoon has access to all "dark magician" and "red-eyes" monsters.

Is "Dark Magician" an archetype? AFAIK no card calls out "Dark Magician" cards. "Dark Magician" is mentioned as the name of a specific card but never as part of a card name that's shared across multiple cards.

Thanks a lot for this video and for the channel, been seeing the matches and they are a lot of fun. I convinced some friends to try out the format, we made a small group here in Brazil to try out next time we play. Everyone is having fun trying to bring their favorite archetypes to the format (myself with Satellite Warrior as my Deckmaster, to bring Synchron ,Stardust and Warriors all togheter). This is what Yugioh needed the most, it fixes so much of the problems:
- Multiplayer to interact and have fun with more people;
- Trash out the extensive banlist but the one card rule balances that. Even if Painful Choice is really strong, is 1 card out of 60, you have to get lucky to pull it off;
- Cards that normally wouldn't be played in standart mode now have a reason to be used (Top Share can set up your follow up and forge an alliance with someone of the table, is so good).

Not to mention there are archetypes that really shine in Domain that never had a chance in advanced. Charmers for example, can be really strong in domain. Before this format, if you told me that charmers could beat Yubel, Dark world, and Fire King Snake-eye I would believe you but in domain it's possible.

There is going to be a rather large rules update going into effect after the tournament at the end of this month. They are as follows.
The ATK and DEF clauses are going to be removed from what defines a Deck Master's Domain.
-The reason for the ATK/DEF item is there are only about 20 cards that do this and most of them functionally work on the other parts of their DM's Domain and the ones that don't are pretty much the visas starfrost clones that don't really have synergy between their archetypes anyways. As well as a wild amount of confusion that seems to come up regularly for a mechanic that for the most part is not used.
Reminder text, except for "this card is not treated as....", will be a part of a Deck Master's Domain. This includes token text.
-In previous R&D it was determined to cause complications with the ATK/DEF clauses. With those no longer being a thing that effectively hits 2 birds with 1 stone. Also, as time has progressed it has become blatantly clear that wide domains are not inherently an identifier for a decks power level so much as player skill and deck optimization. By this I mean we have seen decks with 1 type and 1 attribute play at the same level as decks that let you play everything or nearly everything.
You are welcome to voice your opinions but please keep in mind that this is not up for debate. The Admin team and even the development team have had multiple conversations .

This sounds pretty cool. Nice to see Yugioh players finally trying to build communities that support alternate formats.
Also, as someone who likes MtG and the Commander format, I very much appreciate how well you've tried to replicate the parts of that ruleset that make it interesting. It's clear that thought is being put into what makes the format a more interesting experience than the normal game.
This is a really competent translation of the Commander format into the Yugioh game structure, really well done. The domain rules is really cool and well executed, although a part of me thinks it might hurt deck creativity in some aspects, given that MTG is a different beast than Yugioh, the limitation there addresses the problems with a large Magic card pool, but I'm not sure if it cleanly addresses the same in Yugioh given it is more archetype/stables dependant, but that is just an inital concern with the caveat that the idea is really neatly executed. The one real thing I'm unsure of is the zones in multiplayer, I completely understand that it's tough to make it work, but I feel like something more integrated between all players is more fitting, like maybe the arrows pointing upwards, left and right could also point to the same zone for each of your opponents too.
Yeah lining up zones virtually would be better, especially for column reliant cards like Imperm.
Though there is the issue of Extra Monster Zones. If two players have already taken up the left and right EMZs, do the other two get to use the zones that are virtually occupied already?
Yeah there’s no good way to do it in yugioh unless you completely get rid of links and ban any column based cards to avoid any issues. The way it’s set up now omits any confusion
Restrictions breed creativity usually, more often than they stifle it. Commander is a good example. Those deckbuilding restrictions end up meaning a significantly larger number of decks are used, rather that fewer.
Yugioh's archetypal locks already do this to an extent. But, the domain rules seem to include basically any card you could even theoretically want to include in a deck. What's most interesting is that it heavily discourages generic staples as a Deck Master, and that'll be a great thing for the format.
As far as zones go, I don't think there's really a problem with the way this is done. Infinite Impermanence becomes WAY too strong if it can lock out more than one spell/trap zone at a time, and link summons become even easier to abuse if you start adding additional arrows to make your zones usable for them. Having two players be paired up works well for this. Multiplayer itself is a whole different beast from a 1v1, and the differences end up mattering a lot.
This seems awesome! I hope this format gets more attention because I think this would be the perfect way for more casual players to play the game

Just want to share this, as I also play Duel Commander. Boy, 8yrs ago, we also made almost the same thing, also inspired by commander-variant called Duel Commander and anime's Deckmaster(Noa's Arc), which focused in 1v1 competitive, we also called it DM(Deckmaster)
We used TRAITS insted of DOMAIN, we also allow 3copies of Normal monsters, and effect monster if an effect needs another copy(like giant germs etc etc), as well as requirements for summon(like cyber dragon for cyber end dragon, and you can only include 3 cyber dragon if your DM is cyber end or you have a Cyber end in your extra deck), and note that DM can't have multiple copies on your deck.
As for ban-list, we used the combined R&B list of OCG&TCG, with a twist, you can choose 1 card from the banned list to include in your deck, whipe R1&R2, can still be included in your deck but can't bypass the singleton, and lastly you can't choose a DM that's in Banned, R1&R2 list.
We also pay 500 right out the gates when we summon the DM then accumulate from there just like yours, with a regen counter(also accumulate)that will be removed during standby, it acts like a cooldown, so you can't spam your DM.
A main deck of 60(including your DM), extra deck of up to 15, sideboard of up to 15(including an optional sub-DM, should have similar traits to your main DM).
We'll definitely try this for multiplayer, that said, just sharing some ideas if you ever want to go 1v1 competitive.

I have been waiting for this in Yu-Gi-Oh!, I hope this gets more developed. I actually played with some friends in 3 player duel one time and being 3rd was pretty broken in that, just like going first was, if you had enough ways to protect yourself, but it was hilarious.

Huge fan of this. Will be subbing for more. I did a very similar concept with friends where Extra Deck monsters were locked to a Main Deck quota - ie, to play Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, you need 5+ Speedroids in your Deck, to play a generic card like Splash Mage, you need 5+ non-archetypal Cyberse.
If this is anything like my friend group’s concept, the games are a lot of fun and deck building is a blast. Already trying to brew ideas in my head. Great video.

Both of your points have come up many times in the formats existence. The fact you have three opponents, plays a huge role in self regulating games. I have a video of a tear player starting off with painful choice and popping off. He still lost. Also, what if I told you there are plenty of cards that can accrue *more* card advantage than pot of greed due to the four players? Last turn is so insanely hard to pull off, even harder if they know you have it. I’ve never seen it resolve. But if it could be busted, I’d love to see it. We encourage people to push the format to its limits!
I like it! its kind of similar to playing commander format for magic the gathering, except they use a 100 cards for the deck. Dude would actually feel like anime, cuz most of the time they use multiple copies of a card. I'm down for it! lets make this format popular guys lets go!!!!!!

Sadly, the same thing can't be said about my friends. All Yugioh players I know would rather play Pokemon than any alt Yugioh format. I've tried to convince them multiple times to play Edison, Goat, and even a self-made format about using only cards that have 4 or less lines of text, but... I guess people at my locals dislike trying new things.
I can definitely relate. The guys at my LGS were a bit iffy to start. But I made and kept four spare domain decks on me and eventually they gave it a try since I had extra decks they could borrow. But also, you should join the discord! Theres over 1200 people playing remote games, or simulator games everyday. It's a cool place to be, and you could get some experience playing the format 😎

This sounds super awesome. I’m going to work on an exodia deck using the cards I own. All the dark or fiend links I can fit into my extra deck and draw spells. I gotta check to see how many generic links fit those descriptions but ultimate offering should be a good combo card. It would cost 6000 LP to do it all in one turn though.

100% love this. I've always thought Yugioh's biggest issue was it's lack of formats (mainly official ones). Goat and Edison are fun but limiting cards to a specific date leaves no room for any change. Domain Format sounds like a lot of fun and I would love to see it see more play and hopefully become an official format. I do have a couple questions though. Is there a particular for making it Singleton? And is this just a 4-player format or is it for the standard 1v1 too (Just am a little confused on it)?

6:19 Man, this last rule gave me a wild thought...imagine if the rule involved not just specific ATK/DEF values but also specific Levels.
Spright would be going wild, but another hilarious one would be a personal favorite of mine: Yakusa, Lord of Eight Thunders. Inherent special summon that works specifically with Level/Rank 8 monsters similarly to Sprights with Level/Rank 2s but the rule applying to listed Levels in the text would open up an insane Rank 8 toolbox.
I also thought about this but then realized. What if an xyz monster is your DM? Any level four goes nuts.
I love this but i have 1 major gripe. It seems one thing may have been critically overlooked but it’s possible i missed it in my multiple viewings so please correct me if im wrong here.
The current rules for the deck master’s domain (or yugioh version of color identity) are as follows:
1) types and attributes found on the card or its text
2) cards that share an archetype with the card or one mentioned in its text
3) the monarch ATK/DEF clause.
However it seems that the obvious clause of “cards that mention this monster by name” and/or “cards that this card mentions by name” are missing?
This directly excludes certain cards from being deck masters of cards meant to be played together with them in konamis card designs like “fallen of albaz” “Visas starfrost” and im pretty sure it excludes many “dark magician” and “Blue eyes white dragon” support cards as well (if they are your deckmaster.
If your deckmaster mentions a monster by name, you can play it. Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous can play Fallen of Albaz since she mentions him by name.
But just because something in your deck mentions your deckmaster, doesn’t mean it’s part of the domain. If Visas Starfrost was your deckmaster, you couldn’t play Vicious Astraloud, since Astroloud isn’t Light or a Warrior.
You could still build a Visas lore deck, but you would have to play something with access to many attributes, like Elysium.

The current ruleset would have Visas starfrost (for example) as a deckmaster, with a “domain” that is excluding the multitude of cards that specifically name him… by name. It seems like a bit of an oversight because this ignores the flavor of these cards “domains” and ignores the card design behind these cards being meant to be played together.
Visas starfrost is just one example, this also excludes cards like fallen of albaz, and I believe some of the blue eyes white dragon snd dark magician support cards
@@cooldes4593 so build your Visas Lore deck with Elysium as the Master, and run the 1 copy of every Scareclaw, Tearlament, Kashtira, and Mannadium card you can.
That sounds like a really cool format, but if you can choose combo starters like Snake Eye Ash as deckmaster, then I'll have exactly the same end boards on the first turn as in the Master Rule format.
@@output4794 You could only use either Pyro and/or FIRE monster to build that board. So no Apollousa, no SP Little Night, no linkuriboh, no fiendsmith stuff.
Not saying you couldn’t get to Fire Princess plus other interactions, but the deck isn’t nearly as powerful when you got three opponents that can archenemy you at any time.
Lots of people come in saying this is already solved or not different than TCG, or whatever. But the format plays quite different.

if someone attacks me directly and i play Scapegoat, would they now have the option to direct that attack at another player or another player's monster?
@@Trystaticus yup! If you declare an attack on anyone or anything, and any of the monsters change on anyone’s field, you get to redeclare the attack however you you’d like!

This sounds cool. Basically a commander format for Yugioh. Also is there an exception to the singleton rule for cards that require multiple copies of itself (like Giant Germ, Nimble Momonga, Destiny Hero - Malicious etc.)? After all, MTG has cards that state that a deck can run any number of copies of them, and those are given a pass from the singleton rule. And what about monsters that require two or more of the same monster to summon, like Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon or Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon?
@@Z-one1000 everything is limited to one copy. You can always ask your playgroup if everyone is okay with changing that a bit. But there’s still plenty of ways to summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, fusion subs, fusion armament, most people find creative ways to make stuff work.
The solution for us people that hate playing modern today haha, and hey if you modern it's all good! I just think introducing new formats to yugioh would bring a lot of the older, and newer player to the game

The Singleton thing both interests me and makes me wary. What about cards like "Thunder Dragons" that are reliant on running multiple copies?
@@zerorock41 you can’t make 100% of decks work at 100% capacity in a singleton environment. No decks work at 100% capacity in Domain as compared to advanced. The challenge is part of the fun. It breeds creativity. The vast majority of decks can function in domain. If the rules got changed to favor thunder dragons, it would make everyone want exceptions for their decks.
Hi there, i have a question.
So what about levels when talking about a domain?
Because there are archetypes like spright that make level/rank their whole gimmick.
Let’s take for example spright blue as a deck master.
Of course you’d have access to all Spright, Thunder and Dark monsters, but i feel like a big chunk of the power of the deck is cut by not allowing cards like the Nimble engine or Toadally Awesome to be played.
Regardless to that, the idea of this format seems incredible, i really hope more people start playing it because it would be the best way to play casual yugioh periodt
Level/rank aren’t part of a domain. I actually have a game where my bud Steafen plays frog/spright. The deck is totally still buildable. You can always go with Dark Doriado or Elysium for most attributes available to just play piles of whatever you want.
Just doing some thinking about this and had a bunch of ruling questions. Sorry if these are difficult.
1. If a monster can only be summoned by activated effect, does that mean it can never be summoned as a deck master? Example: Malefic Truth Dragon
2. Can the deckmaster be summoned several times per turn provided its summoning method is still valid? I feel like some broken combos could come from this from cards that are special summonable and are not once per turn.
3. Can the CTS tax be manipulated by cards like Prime Material Dragon, One Day of Peace, etc?
4. Are cards that share any words/characters an archytype? Examples: Dark Magician (DM) + Dark Hole Dragon + Darklord Zerato... Ryko, Twilightsworn Fighter (DM) + Lightsworn Dragonling + Amazoness Fighter + Evening Twilight Knight... Yubel the Ultimate Nightmare (DM) + Nibiru, the Primal Being...

1) Yeah some monsters could be unsummonable as deckmasters. Melefic Truth would be stuck in the deckmaster zone.
2) Yes, I have a Gladiator Beast deck that has Test Tiger as the DM. I can basically summon it as much as my life points allow. But going down to 500LP is not ideal, and essentially balances that.
3) No you cannot avoid the tax. It is a cost to summon.
4) No, everything I listed are the only things that are considered for a domain of a deckmaster. non-archetype words in the title is not one of them.
Commander is the best way to play Magic so this is awesome!
Only downside to these rules are that decks like salamangreats that requires you to sac identical copies for additional effects lose a lot of effectiveness. But outside of that, this seems really fun. Maybe i can convince my Magic friend group to try yugioh for once

Once I built four decks, to let others borrow, and I convinced them to play a game they were all hooked! They almost immediately after playing, built their own decks to try out in the format. It was like magic xD
The rules around 4 players reminds me of the headaches involved in trying to write Battle Royale duels in Yugioh fics, especially Arc-V.

@@yugiohcommander I spent like an hour trying to sus out if there was any logic to why Ancient Gear Spark Shot only damaged one player vs. Ultimate Ancient Gear Hunting Hound halving all opponents' LP, and I decided that it comes from the fact that the former specifies an amount of damage dealt to your opponent (half of a summoned Ancient Gear monster's ATK) vs. the latter just halving your opponent's LP when Fusion Summoned.
Well, that and the Obelisk Force's combo was cooler that way.
The deckmaster stuff sounds fun, but I'm mostly intrigued by having to play 60 different cards in your deck. I'm just tired of how hyper-consistent yugioh decks are now, making every duel the same.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised that the ability to do consistent things isn't shot down that much but it's more of you can do more things with the wider variation of cards you are forced to play. And it's not doing the same thing every turn.
This is an intriguing take on the deck master format. Though it seems to me that picking the deck master is best picked for the domain than summoning it. Or for archetypes, having the deck master be the "starter" to get the guaranteed play in their opening turn... In regards to the singleton aspect, do cards like the harpie lady 1-3 still count as the same card?
There's actually about three "roles" a deckmaster fills.
1)A starter for what you're archetype does. Stratos and the like.
2)A recurrable boss monster that no one can indefinitely get rid of. Red-Eyes Dragoon was a spicy one I saw.
3)A deck master that purely fills the type of Domain you would like to build under. Elysium is a popular one as it grants access to any attribute.
@@yugiohcommander I'm in the process of testing a conversion of my current master duel deck into domain format, and actually finding that most of the cards I've been using share domain as a side effect of my deck building preferences in general. The only tricky part is filling out the rest of the 60 deck. And considering contingencies because having to defend against potentially three battle phases before your turn is a daunting prospect.

Sounds good on paper, but there ABSOLUTELY needs to be a deck master banlist. For example, if I use Vanity’s Fiend, what’s stopping me from running all dark fiends that summon themselves as tribute fodder (i.e almost every playable dark world card)?
Most people are playing dark hole/torrential/needle ceiling. Vanity Fiend is only powerful going first, and even if you do get it, there’s plenty of answers.
My first thought was 5 headed dragon. I don't actually care about it as a card but I get access to a ridiculous slice of the card pool
@@josephcourtright8071 People pick Elysium all the time as a deckmaster. Gives you access to all 6 attributes. Hasn’t been an issue yet. We always encourage people to come try busting the format though 😉
Sure you can sit on 1 Vanity’s, but now 3 other players are devoting all their resources to taking you out. The format forces you to add a bunch of staples to your deck already, so you have 3 players who possibly opens Book of Moon/Change of Heart/Raigeki/etc.
@@plutoniumsword cool, they have to draw the unsearchable 1-ofs in a 60-card deck to the Vanity’s I always have access to, AND if they out it I can just summon it again next turn. Also just as they can draw the outs to Vanity’s, I can just as easily deckbuild to add cards that protect it (lance/dress/safe zone etc.)
The point here is that having an easily summonable floodgate monster effectively in your hand at all times makes for a very toxic gameplay experience imo and needs addressing with a banlist

Mekk Knight gameplay is about keeping the person across from you alive as long as possible.
Justify would at least still be a monster negate, depending on the specific S-force monster you could splash in some other interesting synergies. I've heard of domain format but it was many years back, imma give it a shot.

Playing High Value Starters as DM is a good way to eat early game aggression. Happens to me all the time.

What if you have an odd number of players starting out? My Magic EDH group usually has 5 players, as an example.
It's totally possible. I've played 5 player games myself. You just pair up as much as possible for field/columns, and the odd one out plays as if they have no one that they share columns with.
Extra deck monsters, do they have to be withing the deck Master's domain. Example Deck Master is Junk Synchron, extra deck contains Sooting Star Dragon
@@str83dge4real yeah the extra deck has the same restrictions. The extra and main deck monsters have to be within the deckmasters domain. Junk synchron wouldn’t be able to play Shooting Star Dragon in the extra. I know some people have built a junk/synchron/dust dragon deck. So I know it’s possible.
Actually seems pretty solid, would be great to have another format in the game. Only 2 things that I think could have value in changing(or at least testing) is 1) You could have the filed check at the end of a turn, and if there are only 2 players remaining and they have no interfering zones *then* the fields align. Would allow link based decks and other column cards to have more playability as well as making paying attention to the other players in the pod more important to make sure that wont hurt you later instead of just focusing on the guy in front of you. And 2) Increase the deck master cost to start at 1000 for the first recast, obviously I cant say without testing and after doing the math (see below) its basically only a 1 summon change, but I think it would go far to not allow degenerate stuff to happen as much and deincentivize people to spam summon the guy too many times early on, which is something I see levied against this kinda format a lot.
Bonus 3) Ban list is going to need to be a thing, but I think letting it play out a bit before just auto banning stuff is smart. As long as real though and testing goes into cards as they do eventually get added to the list

So with hand traps at 1 if you can even use them to begin with, what stops my Dragon Link pile from just turing this into regular Yu-Gi-Oh except I have a free Redmed, or some starter in hand every game for free?
@@loverofjesusMKII Dragon Link is very good! There’s nothing stopping you really. You may find that it won’t be so easy to keep a board through three turns and survive through battle phases though! Even still you should give it a try! The formats really fun.

I think my biggest criticism for this format would be the hard 60 card requirement combined with singleton cards. I think taking one of those away while keeping the other would be fine.

Hi! This is my first time hearing about this format and I'm excited to try it out. But I have some questions regarding cards with the same name. I know only one copy of a card is playable, but does that rule also apply for those cards that need multiple copy of the same card to work properly? For example Jackpot 7 or even Photon Caesar. And also, some cards are always treated as another, for example Pacifis, which is always treated as Umi. Can I play them both or do I have to choose between them?

1) regarding cards that require multiples to function. Those are still at one per deck, no exceptions. Those cards just don't see play.
2)Cards that are "always treated as X" count as the card toward deck limits. So you would have to pick between Pacifis, or Umi. But you can still play things that count as Umi in play or GY.

The only legal Match Winner is Victory Dragon and he just does not work, because we dont play Matches.

So i just learned about this yesterday and I am putting a deck together and see what i come up with especially for one of my favorite decks but i want to ask a question.
So i want to choose my deck master to be reptilianne viper or lamia and so i was gonna ask to clarify they both have text that mention 0 atk which means i could use the hand traps like ghost belle or pretty much most of them honeslty however i just noticed your pinned comment which if i understand this correct this no longer works i cannot use ghost belle or the 0 atk hand traps.
Which kind of sucks because they have different uses with my reptile deck like for example reptilianne vaskii but i can understand the confusion it might cause.
Just wanted to ask to make sure since i only leanred about it yesterday and I'm trying to craft my first deck.

There's monsters that are all atributes.

@@majoojavkoo7715I have never played Domain but I have played a boat load of Commander in MTG and I can tell you with certainty that in MTG employing the strategy you suggest here (i.e. running a random card because it gives you access to all cards) is not only going to make for a pretty weak deck but also defeats the purpose of the format; to build interesting decks that you can play with your friends for fun.
If there were a card that was all attributes and it was just a plain really good card then yes that would be good and probably warrant banning.
@majoojavkoo7715 because the deck isn't going to be as consistent as having that additional 7th card. Like elysium. Isn't going to be as consistent as skullcrobat joker that you will just have. That being said playing something like elysium lapuilla mana is a legit move. We have almost 4 years of people trying to break it and it has shown to be a valid trade off but not broken. Maybe you will be the one to do it?
Another question I have I wanna clear up. I watched the other video that was posted on Reddit for domain format, which seems a bit older. The examples for figuring out your DM’s archetype are a little different in both videos. In the first video Summoned Skull was used as an example and it’s archetype was: “Summoned,” “Summon,” “Skull,” “Archfiend”, “Arch,” and “Fiend”. In the example on this video the archetype was just Fur Hire and nothing else from its name. Did that change?
That’s a really old video. We used more complicated rules to determine archetypes back then.
We simplified the archetype rule to what I explained in this video. If an archetype word is in the title or text in quotations, you have access to the archetype. We have a list of all the official archetypes in the discord.
So any fur hire card has access to all fur hire cards.
Summoned skull has access to Dark, Fiend and/or any “archfiend” monster, because he’s always treated as an “archfiend” monster.

If we can check our commanders text box for listed attributes do we count monsters with attributes in their text box? Example being if my commander is "ancient warriors ingenious zhuge Kong" can I run "dark simorgh?"
Good question! But no, you don’t check cards in your deck for any references in their text. You only ever check your deckmaster for its available cards. Zhuge Kong could play any Wind, Beast-Warrior, and/or any “Ancient Warrior” monster.
By no banlist, do you mean no additions to TCG banlist or No Banlist at all? Like, could i run Pot of Greed or Graceful Charity if I wanted?
We don’t use the tcg banlist. Theres absolutely nothing banned. Yes you could run those cards 😎 dust off your Painful Choice’s

@@Mekmassimochannel whether you activate it in pend scale, or pendulum summon it, it’s the same count. You can go back and forth, but the tax accumulates each time. Not separately.
Does the Deckmaster count towards your 60? I'm asking before I fully watch so maybe I'm shotgunning too early but- you mentioned deck must be 60 but is it like- 60 + Deckmaster or is it 59 + Deckmaster? Makes things weird too considering Extra Deck monsters could be Deckmasters- it just confuses me- is it a 61 card deck or a 59 card deck? And if your Deckmaster is a Extra Deck monster do you still get 15 Extra or does it become 14?

@@TheRealJohnux you could play any monster that matches even one of those things. If that was your deckmaster you could play any dragon(regardless of what attribute it is), and/or any dark, earth, fire, wind, water monster, (even if it’s not a dragon). Hope that makes sense!

So i could also include lady debug/emp meowmine/ash blossom in the maindeck, and then any fire or cyberse monster in the extra deck as well correct? Just trying to get my bearings to the format. And are extra deck specific monsters all limited to one as well i assume?
The domain and singleton restrictions are also applied to the extra deck as well. And yes you could run those cards with salamangreat of fire as deck master. You nailed it!

@@roberttucker3194 deckmasters have no abilities in the deckmaster zone, except the ones involving summoning conditions/requirements. Deckmasters can’t activate abilities in the DMZ, and any other continuous effects they have don’t affect the game from the DMZ. 😎

1)shares a word or title component in their titles.
2)there are effects referencing that title or name component.
Cards being related in lore doesn’t matter for Domains. The Sinful Spoils archetype isn’t part of the White Forest archetype, but sinful spoils cards are support for the white forest archetype.

I made a psychic/P.U.N.K. deck and it's a lot of fun.
I got a friend who built it too, and psychic end punisher is such a beast!

One of the things I really love about this format is it makes a lot of cards that would otherwise be unviable into important includes. My fire fist deck runs basically all of them.

Question. If My deck master was Lovevly labrynth of the silver castle, would she be summonable by welcome labrynth or big welcome labrynth? Also, if my deck master was lady labrynth or labrynth archfied, would they be able to special summon themselves by their effects since it's an activated effect?
@@lefteron6804anything that lets you special from hand/deck doesn’t work from the deckmaster zone, since that’s not your hand or deck. So no, you wouldn’t be able to special your deckmaster with Big or Welcome Labrynth.
And no, Lady Lab nor Lab archfiend can use their activated effects to summon themselves from the deckmaster zone.
With all three of those monster, you would have to tribute summon them, or Pendulum summon them while you have the correct scales.
I play and love my Lab deck, I would go with either Arianna or Ariane for the deckmaster.
@@yugiohcommander now that I think about it, if I can have only one copy of each labrynth trap, the labrynth deck doesn't seem very good. It's gameplan is focused on going to the grind game, but that isn't really an option if you have so few labrynth cards to set with the furniture. Do you have a list I could look at? I've been cooking something, but I still haven't reach 40 cards and I'm struggling.

No, you don't get any effects while your deckmaster is in the deckmaster zone. It just sits there until you properly summon it. I go into the different archetypes deckmasters seem to fall into in my "Domain Format basic introduction" video, around 4 minutes

We play simulator duels on Untap.in, Tabletop mod, or Duel Monsters Genesis. The people in the discord could show you those, and/or how to set them up. Untap is the easiest to set up. I've played tons of games on untap myself

I summon my commander, it's a fusion monster, I use the 2 monsters and poly, and they all go to the graveyard. My commander goes back to the command zone.. I have to get back those fusion materials from the grave in order to summon my commander again, right?
Yeah there’s some ways to mitigate that hurdle. Things like fusion substitutes and other polymerization support like Fusion Recycling Plant. If you ever want help deck building, make a post in the discord and I’m sure people will be happy to help suggest cards for ya!

Not sure I’m a fan of 60 card minimum but 1 card per card however it doesn’t seem to be that impossible to work around.
So if I would pick Bystial Magnamhut as my deckmaster I wouldn't be able to summon him with his effect? In MTG if commander has flash (flash=quick effect in magic) you can summon him on every turn
What about level mention? Example Junk Synchron. It says level 2 or lower monsters.. can I use level 2 or less monsters as part of its Domain?

Sounds like fun. But the changing to multiplayer rules might be hard to get used to
Once you encounter enough scenarios, the multiplayer aspect comes pretty intuitively actually!
