Hello, yes I often saw that your US machines where much more utilitarian , as ours we often on show in kitchens I think companies traded modern looks to add to sales .
Very nice wringer there. Also nice to see some top-loading agitator automatics that the U.K. had at one time. Our cousins had some interesting machines that side of the Atlantic for sure.
Hello Pat its a great wringer machine, the backbone of many British kitchens in the day , the Hotpoint UK top loader was scaled on the GE Filterflow , smaller size with heater and 1050 rpm spin etc ,
@@WeHadOneOfThose Yes those UK Hotpoints are fun machines and quite heavy from some of the literature I have read on them ! Love that radio tuner look of the control panel on many of them. That spiralator..sp ?...makes short work of dirty loads it looks....lol.
Absolutely pristine that.....my Mum had exactly the same machine....remember the sound it made when I was a kid......never forgot it! Great childhood memories!
Hi Colin, great memories, these where real workhorses back in the era, its amazing what sounds and even the hot soapy water smells just take us straight back to those times, Didi your mum have a spinner to go with it later on ?
Yes indeed , these English Electric wringers where seen in many a kitchen and home, quite an expensive appliance against other models but you can see the quality and manufacturing - and still working very well today !!
My mum’s first washing machine was very similar to that one. I remember the little door in the side with the wringer in. She had the English Electric liberator tumble dryer too. English Electric also made the Lightning aircraft and the Deltic locomotive. Quite a company!
Hello the other wringer washer with side door was the Parnall, Hotpoint had theirs on the front, the English Electric Company had an impressive list of products they produced.
I knew many people with these wringer machines, but thinking about it all those engineers at English Electric knew a thing or two with all the appliances made by them .
Hi Nicholas, its been fully restored by its user Darren, his display room is like walking back in time, all machines taken fully apart, painted when required then re-assembled. Mind back then the enamel tops and thicker paint leave many of them looking great after 60+ years.
@@nicholaswheeler3985 yes Darren has just completed a new display room, heres the link if you havnt seen it and let us know what you remember !! www.flickr.com/photos/chestermikeuk/albums/72157713212541087
It is , isnt it, love how the wringer stores away underneath and then you have a cover which acts as a working top, and all those controls for mains / motor on, heater on/off, engage gearbox for wash, engage pump to empty.
Hello, they often come up on ebay and marketplace, can be costly and not guaranteed to need som esimple work to fix it, but a lovely solid and reliable wringer washer !!
I love the washer I am looking for a ringer washing myself. But I do have one question why so many machines for one house? Enjoy the video by the way thank you for doing that.
Hello Reta, now thats a question, many of us collect them having been engineers who appreciate the different eras, like classic cars etc , but more washers mean quicker wash times and more fun using them !!
What a beautiful machine. That baby is in excellent condition. Is that original or was this restored? I think the English electric company made other items too. I remember seeing that they made stoves at one time as well.
Thank You Mr.S , it has been fully restored by Darren its owner & user, hes just built the new Appliances Room and only has fully restored models that are used in rotation. The English Electric Company made many household appliances from mixers to Cookers, along with all the laundry appliances, next video is the Liberator Twintub. that morphed into the Hotpoint we know and love today.
Beautiful machine!!! Hey Mike I see you also like filming washing machines other than your's... well considering I hate filming and editing videos if you want here there are some hundreds of washers resting in the warehouse waiting to be filmed by someone who enjoys doing it... 😂😂😂
Cheers, yes I do indeed, which is a bonus, actually on this I didnt film, it was Steve, who did a great job, I just edited it all. It was from when we had the virtual meet-up over Easter. I have been known to drrol on about how to and best ways of filming but that was only because I had the best teachers when I did the film shoot with Adam Hart Davis for "Just Another Day, the crew loved the stuff so much they kept on filming for themselves and taught me a lot. That sounds like a good holiday for me ha ha, filming your warehouse appliances lol.
@@WeHadOneOfThose It would take months... even just because is tightly packed with things so that it take quite an effort moving things to free anything that one would like to see... 😂😂😂
Hello Amanda, they where a very popular and well made wringer washer, good wash action and the big pressure wringer was good at wringing out the water. Do you remember your mum using hers ?
Hello, yes, but I remember my mom owning a twin tub that used to bounce it's way across the kitchen floor, LOL. My Nan owned a single tub that used to get the washing so clean. My ex" s parents use to own an old single tub too. Do you still use a single or twin tub?
Thanks for removing that link mike, everyone has got them at some point and the idiots (for some reason) continue to do so, i hate it when it happens to anyone including myself as youtube doesn't do anything about it
These are larger and much better-looking than the ones we Americans had.
Hello, yes I often saw that your US machines where much more utilitarian , as ours we often on show in kitchens I think companies traded modern looks to add to sales .
these machines outlived the people that owned them
They certainly did, many still around on ebay and local sales. English Electric machines where made of heavy metal and enamel coated which helped.

Older than our parents and still works faster and better than anything made today

Imagine your finger getting caught in that wringer

Beautiful slow gentle and thorough agitation on this machine.

chestermikeuk I’m always surprised at washers that heat the water. I don’t know of any in the states that has that feature
Love the marigolds you big Jessie. LOL.
Ha ha, Ill tell him, but the hands are big enough for a slap, and given how hot the water is out of the Aga they are very much needed !!
any chance of an inside view of this mahine
Will ask Darren to do a short video of it for you !!
Where can I get one of those?
Seriously, this tops all modern machines.

Heyhey with Powerwash ! ;) Cool
Oh yes , nothing short of what we have on these old vintage washers. It certainly filters out the lint with the brush filter inserted.

Hopefully we can, i wish i could have a hotpoint microtronic, but meh, i have some of the best machines i could ask for lol
@@TherealCentral1 Yes, I like the idea that other members have different machines, makes it much more interesting , better than all the same !!
I just wish there were more 9554s and more vids of microtronics in general, tbh they look so retro and 80s lol
