Great tips! Rubber bands around the passport is a great idea to help thwart those who try to pick your pockets. I also like your idea of a decoy wallet with expired credit cards in it--I wouldn't have thought about adding expired credit cards to make it look legit. Also, I hadn't realized that Justin had so many life experiences with his traveling to so many places--he should write a series of books describing his travels in story form. It would be a fascinating read.

I only regret the things I didn’t do, not the things I did. Well said and so true!

Those Amazing stories back in mid Seventy's remind me my 7 yrs College @ Paris. We travel most countries in Europe with $100 in my pocket just in case. Back then the people were rilax also much happier especially helpful with Studends, the whole climax in compare todays living is depressing. Great Interview !!

Great idea to have a dummy wallet! In the SF Bay Area a lot of people also carry a dummy phone on the BART train.

Everywhere you travel in this planet , there are good and bad guys including in rural USA, where i was mugged by a group of street teenagers! I was robbed in Argentina and Mexico. Last year, my phone almost got stolen in Greece. I was waiting for my food in a restaurant, then I got distracted towards my right side. When i look at my left side, a man was trying to grab my phone laid down on the table. Its likely the waiters were involved and that was their MI. Here in the US , people are being drained of their lifesavings thru scammers e.g . Sim Card swapping. Online thieves are rampant and its getting worse.

There is a place in Dauin called U ride bike rental. They also have a service where they will receive your Balikbayan boxes for you and store them. That might be something guys other than me would like to see about. Thanks and stay safe Brother.

Age definitely factors in here. As a 20-year-old Marine I took significantly greater risks than I do now :) I still travel to places that might be somewhat risky, places where there might be some language issues on top of that, but there are certainly things you can do to reduce the odds of being robbed. Moments like his bus situation you cannot really do a whole lot about however...just wrong place wrong time in that story :)

Id love to know the logistics of money when visiting a foreign country. I assume you avoid having lots of cash (or do you just keep all your money in a belt under your clothes? Are there bank ATMs that give you access to bank funds from the US? Also, what do you do for a cell phone? Do you buy a burner in the foreign country?

Chad, I hope your channel, which seems to be growing fast, is providing you with the means to stay put, keep cranking out awesome content, and not have to come back to the US to drum up some income. I am so close to being able to leave here permanently, if I choose to. I have some projects brewing in your area, so I know our paths will cross at some point.

Not that much armed robbery in the Philippines however there is a ton of petty theft. If you don't watch your belongings very closely in the Philippines, they will get stolen.
