It's great when it works. We had a pipe bursting sub walk off the job because he could generate enough jacking force to pull it through the stiff clay.
Assuming all codes have been followed in the past, the proximately of gas, water or other piping should be 12" away. In 13 years of bursting I have run into 2 incidents that have been in the street (public works) area with storm drains. They were either resting against the lower lateral to the city connection or running halfway through, in the last incidence I've had. You have to be careful with bursting that is less than 18" in depth under concrete to prevent cracking someones hard scape.
As a plumber my problem with this technique is ....the Brand New pipe is being dragged thru ALL the broken shards of the old pipe ? I am a plumber and have done this work . ✌️
Every install method comes with it's own set of problems. If you open cut and pavement is involved then you deal with patches and failing joints with the possibility of no mill and overlay ever performed.
You excavate 3 pot holes...1 at the exit, 1 at the 90 degree turn and 1 at the lower lateral connection. Set up the hydraulic bursting equipment in the center hole (where 90 degree turn is) pull from exit point, turn equipment around and burst from lower lateral connection...
Pipe bursting is so much more effective, better quality material and takes so much less time. You cannot beat this method. Pipe lining is much more temporary, subject to damage from sewer equipment and is a temporary (though expensive) solution to your private sewer problems. Another downfall is you can only line to the joint before city connection leaving that last joint vulnerable in the street. Cities use this method without this type of problem, that's why it makes more sense for city use.
@@gavinbalajadia8697 no problem! I do this as a job and this video randomly came into my recommend and I decided to share my knowledge 😂 have a good day sir!
Recently, I had a sewer man tell me the new pipe is less in diameter than the old one. That you were basically 'relining' the old pipe. True or not? (btw: He said he did NOT use pipe bursting.)

in the case of close proximity to other piping, are channels dug to monitor? should that specific length of pipe be manually destroyed? do fragemented pieces ever give you problems or is the bursting uniform?
iam from england i did pipe bursting for 20 years . usually the shroud part that the pipe head is into pushes the broken bits aside. notice how the shroud was bigger than the diamiter pipe . we usee to burst cast iron. ductile asbestos
This animation is freaking AWESOME!
Thank you!

That music...I felt so sad for that old clay pipe.

can it be used for replacing PVC drain tile with holes?

I thought about that too. Maybe the shards are compressed against the dirt enough were it will not cause any damage.
It looks to me like the cone shaped thingy that breaks the old pipe was a larger outside diameter than the new pipe, so it clears the way for it? 🤔
It is not a problem used on cast. Pulling in poly for gas and water mains. All tested

Don't think it could be "explained" any easier. Thanks.
Exactly. If a picture’s worth a thousand words, this video’s priceless…in any language. 🏆
Is it possible to put a lump in the floor inside your house.
Trop fort ces ingénieurs, c'est le top quand c'est pour le bien des hommes !
Could a tree root not press some of the old shard pipe into new pipe and penetrate it

How much cheaper is it percentage wise then relining. And how much cheaper is it percentage wise than trenching and replacing clay piping?
Does it allow for the diameter to be upgraded as well?
Yep upgrading pipe diameter quite normal.
Poor cars falling off the cliff
How do you know if you pitch though?
lots of problems using pipe bursting relining existing pipe so much easier.
Really great engineering work.
What do you do to the on-going sanitary flows feeding into the existing sewer lines during the construction?
You turn off the home owners water and you tell them not to flush the toilet under any circumstances until we are done with the burst

That’s different, they clean the pipe then use a polymer tube to line the pipe.
this video is too sexual

Matt Smith
Plastic-pipe-locator signal sent through a wire co-located with the pipe to enable maintenance folks to locate the pipe.
