- In this video, I help my friend Allyn organize his messy office in his small Boston Condo! If you are living in a space that is small and are finding it hard to keep your desk space neat, this is the video to get you motivated to clean and tidy up your desk! Your desk surface should only hold the things you're using everyday and everything else can go away! I hope you find this organizing video inspiring!

Great work and yes, let's organize Allyn's whole house please! 😊
Great idea🎉🎉🎉
Kudos to him! I’m embarrassed at MY desk at home 🤦🏽♀️😩 I’m not that brave! Lol
Cudos to Allyn for letting us peek into his office space. And Yay! Kay to the rescue! LOVED the video.
I love these realistic videos .
My way to keep my desk always clean
1) daily after you off put things away
2) weekly wipe it down
3) in boring meetings clean your desk ( make sure your mic is on mute )
His desk turned out great! If he reads this, the key really is to putting everything away each day, a reset of the area. Otherwise the clutter starts building up! Also if you are leaving the room and there is stuff in that room that needs to leave as well to go to another room take it with you!
I have a plate of cat treats on my desk. But it's supposed to be here because it's the cat's desk; she just lets me use it for work. 🤣
Haha mail is the bane of my existence! It's not messing up my desk at the moment, however I have a doom box **next** to my desk that I'm slowly working through! 😵💫 Never again!
It's Kay ❤ Thanks for letting us come into your home Allyn!
Thanks for sharing your time. Allyn was a trooper 😊 and I enjoyed watching the both of you and laughing during the 4 bin rule for tackling clutter & incoming mail 😂, the space looks amazing. 👏🏾
Totally here for the doggo 🐶
Your friend is awesome. What a lovely soul. No wonder you two are friends! ❤
Love love love this! My desk is the sign when life is getting out of control. I've currently got a couple of snacks, a kitchen towel, some random coasters and like 6 pairs of readers!
I agree that it's a sign that life is getting out of control, I have the same issue. I've been catching myself lately, keeping it from getting too crazy!
Allyn has such a fun personality! And Rory is an absolute cutie 💕 Thank you for sharing your space!
I enjoy these declutter/organize with friends videos🙂
Also❤ your sweater today.
How wonderful to have another Kay video! Yay!!! Yes, living in a teensy 1 room space means simply this: don't put it down, put it away. I am also now limited to a tiny desk - it is my sewing table, my computer desk, my art easel and my dining table! Have to keep it tidy .....otherwise I get really crabby!
This is my best friend’s office, which is far worse. This video was inspiring.
Now, Allyn just needs to keep up on this. Deal with stuff immediately, don’t just put it down to “deal with it later” (my friend is guilty of this).
I set up some easy-to-follow “rules” once your space is decluttered/organized so you don’t have to go through the whole process again.
If you bring it into the room, take it out of the room.
If you drop it, pick it up.
If it’s empty, throw it out.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If it’s a dirty item, put it in the sink or the hamper.
When you’re done with something…
If it’s a blanket, fold it up.
If it’s a glass or a dish, put it in the sink.
If it’s a game, put it away.
This is how I function in my apartment, and it makes life (and weekly cleaning) so much easier.
I love the series. You did a wonderful job creating a personalized system for him! Kudos
My habit with mail is to drop them directly on the couch when I come home. Then when I'm done with dinner and park myself on the couch, I open the mail while watching TV. I find it much more doable that way. But yes, I find that you need to open mail the exact same day. Most of it is junk anyway; no point in accumulating stuff on a surface if it can be chucked directly into the trash.
Oh lord it looks so much like my husband’s desk. Despite my best efforts it always ends up a disaster. I have no clue how he gets work done on it. I am a person that has a home for everything. I love the baskets you used to separate stuff into. ❤️
THE TIMING! My wife and I are both struggling with this!!! YAY!!!
Cute video! I vote the back scratcher stays!! I have one at my home desk because you never know when that itch will need to be scratched!! 😉
I have several of those back scratchers: One in my car, one in my bedside table, one for travel and one in my desk. My back gets very itchy and I have found that people are usually not open to scratching my back for me - 🤷♀️ !! The expandable scratchers are a life saver!! Keep it!!
@@phoebe2584 being single...its a life saver!! 😉
And you don’t have to reciprocate!! It’s all about YOU!! Ha ha!!
Aww...you can tell how appreciative Allyn was for Kay's help.😊 Fantastic job! Tfs
Missed you Kaye thanks for sharing
I don’t have a desk, per se... unless one can stretch the definition to include a currently half-messy kitchen counter. The papers tended to accumulate there, so now they’re corralled in a file holder. :-)
That was great!
This is my new favorite channel ❤ Kay, I love your content and you are absolutely delightful. I’m so glad I found you through Cas’s podcast!
I keep those bear claw back scratchers in my night stand, end table by recliner, and desk drawer. I have a couple drawers in my desk that are vanity items since I get ready in my office every morning
I love how the dog gets involved!
Love how you got excited/distracted by the bear claw back scratcher! 🤪🤣😂🤪🤣
I AM a literal magpie 😂
@@TheOrganizedSoprano 😂🤣🤪😂
yes. I'm at work and my desk is messy, and my home desk needs tidying as I've let stuff build up on it again
I love Allyn and Rory!! ❤
I have a ton of messy stuff on my desk! How did you know! At work all the surfaces are clear, but at just piles up and the stress gets worse the higher the pile gets. Then I just avoid. Thanks for the inspiration to tackle that clutter! ❤❤
Great work! Since you work in a big university and college town, I think a video to help out students with lots of stuff and limited space would be a great idea for a future video. I know one person in particular who could use that kind of inspiration 😊
My biggest problem with my clutter is finding a home for things. But now that I realize that I have begun working on organizing things a bit at a time. Thanks for all of your helpful advice, Kay.
I have one of those telescoping back scratchers and yes, it stays on my desk with the portable fan! (over 50 you will understand!)
This was fun to watch and so relatable. What a good sport he is and wonderful friend ❤
My desk is my safe space, only has computer related stuff on it and cord control is a must. Can’t say the same for the rest of my tiny apartment 😅
Great work! I'd go further and put the tower underneath the desk or next to it. To even free up more space on the desk.
Great video. Thanks for being aware on organizing for the person. I tackled my office desk some months ago. I had to work on habits of filling in motion work papers.
Great job and yes my desk needs some help.
Nervous laughter, cute. Good job
How sweet!
I missed you!
I think the issue with my desktop is the depth/what I need it for. I have a laptop + 12x12 cutting mat. And maybe I need to think about a place I can put one while I’m using the other. Because it’s a bit cramped haha!
I agree with you on mail...90%. Open it, but then have a weekly box that you visit every week for the "to dos" or action items each week.
This motivated me to rearrange my desk area, too!! Ive been thinking about it a lot and now I finally did it!
Thanks for this motivational video. Nice office space Allyn!
Great job 😊
You guys are great 😆 I hope you help him organize more in the future! Great video 💚
Great job! ☺️
The top of my desk is fine (computer stuff and a cat bed) and so are most of the drawers. The problem is the paper drawer that I throw stuff into. I need to take your advice to just deal with the paper right away until it's done.
I came after listening to a podcast you did with ClutterBug and now I'm suscribed :)
Yay! Welcome in!
My desk is a mess!
I gotta say, I love your mail tip. Hubs and I had a chat after watching one of your videos last year. And now, I open all the mail when it comes it, toss the crap and deal with the rest. If there's something I'm not able to deal with it, we have a home for that stuff and he takes care of it when he gets home. It's been the best for counter/desk clutter.
Very inspiring! Good job! Thank you and Allyn for sharing!
👍👍👍
Great video, Kay! ❤
Thanks for the motivation to go straighten up the desk and office area. Honestly, mine always seems to get a tax day clutter hangover, so time to get it back together.
Thanks so much for this 😂 This will help me with my gaming desk and my work desk❤❤❤
LOL Okay the dog stole the show. Too cute. Great job on the desk.
It came out great 🖥 especially the drawers.
LEGO is on my desk. My lap top and LEGO.
Thank you thank you! I need to do both my work desk and craft desk and this motivated me to get started 😊
It always feels better to have a space cleaned and organized. Great job 👍
I am mostly working of unfinished craft projects to help clear up space for more reorganizing next year.
Peace ✌️
🎉 fantastic job 👏 ❤
So needed to see this because I'm working on my desk tomorrow 😊
you did an amazing job both with the desk surface and the drawers, I believe that your friend will keep it up, he just needed a fresh start (fellow messy desk owner here 🤭🤭 this was the perfect motivation!!) thank you for sharing!!
I appreciate you taking us along for the ride!
It would have been nice to see what solutions you set up to prevent the piles from reforming.
My desk has a box with papers in it that sounds a lot like his piles. I have yet to find a solution that sticks & I like. Letting the box build up is getting annoying 😅
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great job 👏🏾
As always, I love your video and sweet personality. I've not seen collapsible bins/baskets like the ones you used here. They look great and I didn't find them on your amazon link. Where could I find these (in Canada?). Thanks.
Thank you! They used to sell them at The Container Store but for some reason they discontinued them! I'll try to find something similar!
Where did you get the reusable see through bags?
Is this the only room that needs organization and tidying?
That feels like my husbands desk: office. I want to help him but he refuses. It’s weird. He likes a tidy space in our home but won’t keep his space (not shared by me) tidy.
bills mostly. don't worry, i already paid them
I have 2 desks in my office and both are cluttered.🤦♀
This is a nice guy, but in two months' time, his office will look as bad as it did before you helped him. I get that he is laughing from embarrassment, but he's entirely too jolly about his appalling clutter lifestyle. Can't change the color of the stripes on a zebra. 😊
I loved watching this with my morning cup of coffee, thank you to Allyn and I hope you do his entire house Your tip about organizing drawers has been super helpful for me throughout my house! Having drawer organizers has nearly tripled my drawer and cabinet space in my kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. I also hate dealing with mail but you're totally right, dealing with it immediately is the only thing that works. I need to up my cord control game and I have stacks of books on my desk 😅 but I'll get there. Your videos are so helpful and motivating

That was great!
