If you prefer images in black and white, maybe The Lighthouse (the one with Robert Pattinson and William Dafoe)? It's not an older film but there are a lot of great, atmospheric shots in it.
I love to see your creativity. I find myself in a demotivated loop lately; I'm constantly pushing to create, always making plans but when I start to do it I find myself paralyzed, like i never drew in my life and idk how to do it. It's just me or there is anyone else out there?
Yeah it’s a sucky feeling and took forever for me to climb out of that pit when I was like that I used to try to warm up by doing 30 second sketches of plants and people and animals it at least got me doing something and sometimes got me to make stuff I like cause I wanted to keep going after that
Me too. I graduate university next week and now that I'm not creating for grades, I keep catching myself asking 'then what's the point?'. I studied product design and everything always had to be perfect, there was no room for messing up or playing around. I've unlearned how to create solely for myself. Like you said, every time I try to make something, it's paralysing 😢I don't know the solution yet.
@@indiahay8574 When I feel fed up with something like that, I try to find the polar opposite. What creative expression would feel least like what you're doing for your grades right now?
You all won't Believe.. i start today a new canvas, after half year break 😅🥳. Thank you for response. The struggle is real but I guess we can motivate each other for the better
I just stumbled upon your channel, and i'm lost for words. I don't understand how something could look so realistic and tangible yet stylized. Your work feels like looking at a memory of something lost to time, and what you're making is the last thing that remains from that thing, From that time and place, and from the people that lived it. It has a slight retro feel to it, and like the watercolour studies of the old masters. My god what the hell did i just stumbled into, keep it up!
I am a student about to graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in the painting course. Your videos have rekindled my passion for the fine arts after a long period of depression. 。◕‿◕。
Stalker is absolutely one of my favorite films of all time and the fact you did even one still from it is so so beautiful to me! I wish I could have a print of that it’s so beautiful to me 😭! Thank you so much! I wish you could do even more but hopefully you’ll do more tarkovsky in the future anyway.. love this
Glad you watched the movies! Hope you enjoyed them. I think graphite was perfect for Stalker. The music in the end and the mood of the video reminded me of melancholic “rusty lake” puzzle games. Very lovely.
Amazing!!! You have such an eye for things! When I first saw the short scenes, I wondered how can they even be painted, captured? And you did it, so beautifully! I _really_ liked that you only used that charming "little" container of paint! Just one color, and just look what you can do with it! Thank you for sharing these, I hope I can incorporate these ways into my own art, that I really need to, and want to improve. God bless 🖤
I truly enjoyed that, thank you. And now I want to go buy some water-soluble graphite and masking fluid. I am teaching myself... Your video, very peaceful and calming before bed. So glad I saw this!
omg, this is so beautiful! I felt something nostalgic in each drawing, which warms my heart, and that makes me cry! I love you and your art! Please don't stop creating! T^T♡♡♡
I've been wasting my Criterion subscription and haven't watched anything on it in a few months. This got me super excited and motivated to go watch some great cinema and check some things off my to-watch list, thank you:)
This was delightful! I’d love to know where you found that amazing laptop drafting table/easel? I know I’d have nice slow mornings if I could just pull my table onto my bed!
feels weird to say this bc i think im like two years younger than you but i feel like i watched you grow up.. ? i used to sub to your channel in the polymer clay days. i had a pullip doll stopmotion account #TBTTTT!! wayyy back in 2009 and made some videos on my old channel as well. wowwww that was a long time ago! and i remember you posting your art ig in 2015 and to see your style develop into this is incredible. GLLL bro rooting for u!
I have to know where you purchased that miniature table. I’ve been looking for one for forever and I just can’t seem to find one. Loved the video btw it was very relaxing! ❤
You are very brave, l would never do this on bed. Unless, unless l am sick and not being able to get up and using watercolor no way my bed will be full of paint in a bit. But l love it that you are able to do it. Hugs.
What films would you want to see studied next? Let me know!
Have you done/seen The Princess Bride? I’d be interested to see how you do it :)
The Big Lebowski, The Holy Mountain
Nostalghia, also by Andrei Tarkovsky
Hiroshima Mon Amour, 1959 dir. Alain Resnais

That's exactly where I am right now. It's so rough. The desire to create is absolutely there, but I feel paralyzed and afraid somehow.
You all won't Believe.. i start today a new canvas, after half year break 😅🥳. Thank you for response. The struggle is real but I guess we can motivate each other for the better
I wish you would do this again. Your graphite paintings are so beautiful and this video was very peaceful and enjoyable to watch and hear.❤

the way the texture of the paper is highlighted by the water soluble graphite is so beautiful 🤍
Thank you. The pigment pieces being crushed under the mortar is the massaging for my brain that I never knew I needed 😌
This is some of the prettiest art I’ve seen. So relaxing and seemingly effortless. I love how the tools were just an extension of your own hand.
Your sketches really conveyed their cinematic origins. Magical.
I love the mood in these studies! The graphite seems to be a perfect medium for these types of works. Thank you for sharing this!
Breathtaking. Such control of values and balance with a looseness of shape ❤
