As I'm enjoying your video...I look outside my window, there's 3 feet of hard packed snow and tonight will be -31c with the winds. Thank you for 8 minutes of beautiful spring weather...vitamins for the soul. I can see so many uses for this bag , thanks for counting me in for the draw. Yes i'm from North America
Good review, thanks Michael. You had your own version of a conceal carry with the bag blending into your shirt. Where’s the haversack, I thought? No competition entry for me due to living in Australia. Give the hounds a pat please.
Yes please enter me. I could use a good camera bag for the field as I don’t have one currently. It looks like the perfect size. You’re very good at product descriptions. You cover everything. Good job MICHAEL. Cheers my friend.
Here are my observations - I don't like the top flap securing system. It is an attempt to copy the military system but does not have the same secure fixing. Also I would be happier with a wide flap and 2 fixings (adjustable) as per the tradional haversack. The height of the bag might be a problem if you use a tall water bottle perhaps? What is the molle system under the flap all about? I feel the designers haven't fully thought it through or they have changed the traditional for the ske of change/fashion. I use a British army S10 respirator bag which is cheaper ($10) and does the job equally well so I don't think I'll change it.......yet.
Hi David, It works surprisingly well and the molle on the front is good for sliding in my flashlight securely! I have not had an issue with a full size water bottle (Nalgene Stainless Steel Wide Mouth 'Standard' 38-Ounce) inside the holder. I own several S10 respirator bags (some with the S10's inside 😄) and they are not as useful as this haversack. I actually use it for non-bushcraft trips too if I'm just heading out and need some water for the dogs and a small camera for instance! I highly recommend it 👍
I have had the helikon tex bergen for a couple of years and is my go to pack for a day or wknd. But i wanted something a bit smaller just a quick mooch about with just a saw, knife, cooking gear. So i got this Haversack. I like it so far... But i don't like the clip fastener. It's okish to open with one hand. But you need 2 hands to close it. It's fiddly to close especially if the pack isn't full or you're hands a cold. I might end up changing the clip to a larger easier clip buckle. Besides that it is good bag.
I wasn't sure about the closure either - I thought I would break it, but its held up so far. I'm not sure if I was to change it, to another type that would work as well 🤔 - Let me know what you would switch to! 👍
Been watching your videos for the last few months. Living in AK as I get older I realize I’ve changed. Slowed down to look around and enjoy the moment. Your videos have given been great ideas and a want to camp and follow bushcraft more. Reminds me of the SERE days and other survival days I’ve done and want to go down those roads again. Thank you and keep up the great videos and outings!! I’d love to enter to win!! Thank you!!
Hey James! Old habits die hard. I'm x-military too and I'm always drawn to gear that looks and feels like the stuff I used as a younger man. I'm a lot fatter and slower but I think I enjoy the outdoors more now as I have more time to take it all it 👍 Good luck on the draw!
We have lot's of snow if you would like some more! In the Yukon. Definitely a fan of your channel and could use a handy haversack. One can never have too many haversacks!
Hi Esme, Simon and of course Michael, hope all is well with you and your family. Just celebrating a dry St Patricks day here in the UK, well almost dry!!! Take care Stay Safe.
Seeing no snow on the ground...makes me feel great! This is not a product for me but enjoy watching you talk about them nonetheless. Appreciate your content.
David - If only Esme could do the editing! Unfortunately because of her lack of colour perception she can only operate the camera with Simon on sound 😄
Thanks Michael, Great review! I have been looking for a great day bag option. Count me in on the drawing and keep the videos coming looking forward to seeing Simon out in the bush again.
Good job on the review. I am currently putting together a Bushcraft kit to donate to a local Boy/Girl scout troop. I am interested in being considered in the drawing for that purpose. Question: Is it possible to strap a wool blanket to the bottom of the pack? Got one from Self Reliance Outfitters that I want to donate with the pack. Looking forward to seeing future reviews. Stay safe, happy and healthy.
Hey Richard - The haversack doesn't have the lower attachment points for a blanket but the Helikon-Tex satchel does. www.helikon-tex.com/en_usd/tb-bst-cd-bushcraft-satchel-bag-cordura.html. Look out for more videos as I have lots of gear to give away over the coming weeks/months 👍
Nice bag! No need to enter me in the draw, but wanted to show my support! Nice to see the warm weather is upon us ...soon the Canadian AirForce will be out 😉
Ohh nice!! Winter camping or even cold camping can be challenging in the beginning but practice makes the comfort level better on each trip. I really like the Cabela's Ice fishing tent setup for UTV camping - Its so quick and easy, plus nice and warm 😉
Looks like a great bag of not too large. I am a musician so this would be great for carrying music and such. Please include me in the grading. Thank you.
Nice simple video. I look forward to more with Esme and Simon now that our weather is warming up. Please enter me for the haversack draw...I need more bags ;-)
Looks like a nice piece of kit. Interested in participating. Appreciate the opportunity as well. Extra cookies for Esme and Simon... 'cause you KNOW they deserve 'em. LOL Good to see you out and about, looks like no tracks this year.
nice haversack! and you cannot go wrong with that color. also I'm curious about the jacket you are wearing is that the same brand ? is it the one with climashield ? by the way i do enjoy the review videos!! keep them coming. (p.s. i pass on the give away since i am almost but not in N.A. )
I'm a big fan of the Coyote colour too! The shirt is a Helikon-Tex Woodsman shirt - Its almost a jacket as its so thick. Highly recommended! www.helikon-tex.com/en_usd/ko-wdn-dc-woodsman-shirt.html
Good morning Michael , I would like to enter in your drawing giveaway . That would come in handy for all my outdoor activities, camping, deer hunting, ATV rinding. As a Eagle scout I just love the great outdoors. Looking forward to your next video, keep them coming. Thank you.
I’m not sure about all this, I have many haversacks, including one from the Hidden Woodsman, Tough Possum, Vertx . I just received this one and I’m having trouble utilizing the bag as an EDC bag. First the cover is wanky, the straps get in the way of the flap being able to totally align well, you have to keep pulling it down. The hook & loop is totally in the wrong place, or they should’ve added a panel inside the main compartment. Having hook & loop in the small pocket, if you want to conceal carry, it’s open and floppy, also not deep enough. In the main compartment it would’ve worked much better. The inside bottle pocket is tiny, and the outside side pockets are also tight, I’m not sure how that would be comfortable with an ax. All the Molle webbing is on the outside, and some are placed awkward in front/side, it limits accessories to size and shape. I found myself struggling to put my everyday carry in place. The front snap closure tab is awful and with all that extra material on it you still cannot adjust it, terrible design. I had to drop my weapon in the zippered back compartment, the only place it didn’t look or feel like it was going to fall out. This bag needs some serious redesign and I’m going to return it. As a bushcraft bag I would get the satchel, much better for that.
Well - I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. I have a couple of them and use them regularly. They are not designed for concealed carry - I'd agree with that but there are many other options if thats your goal. The hidden woodman haversack is about double the price, so I would expect it to be better. For me it's small enough to carry and big enough for my gear. I don't like to carry my axe on any should carry bag as it makes them uncomfortable. I tend to tuck my axe in my chest pack straps (scout style) if I need my hands but I like to hold it as I walk. Thanks for the feed back!
It looks like a great pack I would be able to put to use. Always enjoy your vids and as I have mentioned before your reviews and suggestions are appreciated.
Please enter me in the drawing, I really like the size of this pack. Looks to be just about perfect. Thanks for the opportunity, and I look forward to more videos!
Hi Michael I’d love to enter for the drawing of the helikon -Tex bushcraft haversack! Thank you for showing it❤️. I’d love to have a shoulder carry bag!
That little clip thing to close it turned me completely off. I have the larger and like it, but like you said, it is too big. I will stick with my Finnish Gas Mask Bag.
I have a haversack, it’s a Yugoslavian/Serbian military pack that looks similar to that. I have a couple of sling packs, it’s nice to be able to swing it from the back to the front for easy access to the pack, without having to take it off. I would like to enter to win. Peace..✌️💪🇺🇸🇨🇦💪
I have a very small LL Bean haversack but the strap is too short for my torso build but It is my go to airport/travel bag. This one looks just about perfect as a day hike bag and as you mention very well outfitted. Please enter my name in the draw. Thanks
The draw is now closed - Congratulations to the winner!
Great video. Which one do you recommend for a day hike, the satchel or the haversack? Thank you
Haversack carries so much better 👍

Good review, thanks Michael. You had your own version of a conceal carry with the bag blending into your shirt. Where’s the haversack, I thought? No competition entry for me due to living in Australia. Give the hounds a pat please.

I could use that haversack bag. Seems like the right smaller size.
Sounds good James!
Sure, I'm in, thanks. 👍🏻

The closure is the same as used by european armies - Bundeswehr and Biritsh PLCE use the same buckle and it definitely works.
