Havana is newer, but Paris is far more memorable in terms of just how agonizing it is to play on. Havana is as plain as can be tbh. Just another payload map, not bad, but not that amazing either.
Why didn’t they just put pressure on point? They were given the right flank, so they could have easily stepped onto it. There are little pillars or something they could use for cover (pause at 5:34). I’m pretty sure the devs put them there on purpose to give players a counter to bunker. It would force the bunker to rotate, either allowing the attackers to beat it right there or to make it weak enough to beat next push.
Bastion and Orisa just moves to a post where they can hit the point, they need to kill the enemy team before they can capture, like they did with the sombra + genji combo
Lucky Tran What I’m wondering is if the entire attacking team went for point, maybe with a rein or something to protect them as they squeeze in right behind the pillar to the left. The sombra and winston are the only heroes on the defending team with enough mobility to contest, and they can’t 2v6. I don’t see a way that the bunker could safely rotate in time before the attackers have at least 1-2 ticks. Edit: There are a bunch of other things they could have done with the right flank open to point as well, like a mei walling off the defenders or setting up a dual-shield bastion battery to win the shield war.
Thank you for your feedback, everyone! As others have pointed out, we'd like to clarify that while Havana is the newest map in the game, Paris is the most recent map to be added to OWL.
Btw d.va, echo, pharah, widow, ult mercy, maybe genji, maybe widow, maybe Winston and hanzo, can jump over the small building on the side. On the left from the first spawn.
How is that a fun comp? They just sit in a corner and spam and hope that the enemy doesn't have an answer, it's way more boring than goats, it's just interesting to see, what comps the enemy runs to counter it.
I think the "unorthodox position" is alot better because it moves the choke and limits options. In the typical position, it is easy for Tracer, maybe even Reaper to flank and get behind the team. In the new position, it shifts the choke to in front of the shop and it opens the field of view so the team can see EVERY thing happening.
One of the biggest reasons for these new unorthodox positions is Baptiste. The immortality field can be placed inside the room, forcing the attacking team to wait it out or hard commit and feed. It usually also involves a nearby health pack that Baptiste can use to keep himself alive because his self-heal has a long cooldown.
Seriously. This is the kind of thing I was missing when Blitz Esports stopped making videos. Their Overwatch analysis videos were top tier and this is filling the void that they left in my life. Thank you, Akshon.
I don’t get it ? Why not just play point and use those post as a shield and have a symmetra to use her shield wall on point so they can’t take damage and set up turrents on point ?
why would they not take a widow to get a long range pick on the supports? The bastion damage would be less effective from range and pharah rockets could be stopped by an orisa or winston
I havent played overwatch in a while, but wouldn't sombra cappibg the point force the bunker team to essentially play in a way that forces them to change their strategy?
Not really. Sombra needs to be visible to cap the point in her current state. So OGE can jump on her as Winston and force her to just translocate back to safety. Rinse and repeat, and then Sombra only lost her team's time instead of addressing the real problem.
Sombra can't cap if she is invisible. And a Pharah rocket or even one hit from Ana or Jump from Winston would force her to fuck off immediately. So yeah, in comp, when Orisa is the only one keeping track of the objective, it can work. Against a team that plan for someone to constanly rotate on objective as needed? No.
Also, it is very common to give up one or two ticks in pro games. If they pressure Sombra at the right times and give up the ticks, as long as they can capture the first point on attack, it doesn't make any difference if Sombra is focusing on trying to cap the point.
They should have had a junkrat and not phara to keep the unclosed room hard to stay in because junkrats area damage would have done enough to kill most that jumped in with the help of bashtin and the healers
I'm a year late but why not just do roadhouse too? Just put enough dps into the shield before Orisa can put a new one then roadhog can hook bastion out of sentry form and into the enemy team.
Just ran this map in Quick Play with randoms, and was able to pull off this comp! The teammate playing Bastion saw I put my Orisia Sheild on the back side; instead of in the middle where he was. We didn't have a Baptiste, but our Mercy also knew where to go; as she followed the Bastion. At first; the Bastion looked like he was going to move, but stayed put. It paid off big time; as the enemy team couldn't touch the point with some of our team on the High Ground and Bastion and me on the opposite side; while Mercy moved from group to group keeping up heals. It wasn't the full Dallas Bunker Comp, but it worked just the same!
I once won a game of Paris attack in 2 minutes and 23 seconds... There was 14 seconds of contesting, and we got 3 team kills.... Good memories of this shite map....
If you're going to issue a correction to the creation of this comp at the bottom of the video info, why does the title still credit the fuel as the creators when it was LA Gladiators that came up with it?
I still don’t understand why you would run Ana instead of Mercy in a bunker. Bunker comps don’t take much damage anyway and with Baptiste/Mercy you’ll have plenty of heals. Plus it allows Mercy to damage boost the dps
I found a way to flank around a bunker comp as hanzo or genji so First you go out of spawn and then you keep going until that main route than on the building in the right you climb up the wall and then you dash or leap up and it should be enough to get you over the building and most people won’t notice you and you could just flank on the stair path that’s like a Levatated sidewalk and then most of the other team will freak out and try to get you and the rest of your team could move in whims the enemy team this mainly only works in like bronze and silver but you could still try it
Paris is single handedly the single most frustrating and anger-inducing map in Overwatch right now. I sympathize with SF Shock for having their coaches choose this map, and them then losing the map in embarrassing fashion, only to then win the series. That alone should tell people how frustrating this map is.
The Winston can pretty safely contest point presence, and the bunker provides fire support to blow up anyone that comes to fight him. It's pretty much the same role a D.va would normally have in a bunker comp.
Bunker comp really grinds my gears.... Especially when ur team is just walking in the choke and spams thanks Everytime they die.. yet they don't even communicate/focus fire on the bastin

Not much need for Mercy if there isn't a Pharah.
Mercy can boost Bastion and melt things 30% faster. Ana’s kit is better overall but Mercy just fits more into a bunker comp
