I have never heard of this guy and I am a major techno head. I have heard of his moniker Plastik Man. But after listening to him in this interview, I like his attitude and his history of Detroit Techno and I will be checking out his music
Interesting, I didn't think it was possible for anyone only slightly into electronic music to not know him. He already achieved legendary status, the quality of his sound in particular and creative work in general is just beyond imagination. Enjoy! :)
always felt a bit ambivalent about richie regarding his craft. on one hand he is THE master in his field. no one comes close, and i would say his obsessiveness transcended him beyond techno. but on another hand the arrogance is always there. maybe not arrogance, maybe just carelessness and disrespect. especially when discussing midwest rave scene.
@@allyouracid there was an interview in the 90s in the ravezine massive. He was bitching how rave scene in midwest is basically for hobos and amateurs. He held that attitude about us scene for a while as european scene was blowing up and treated him like god at the same time. I think it was some truth to it, but also disregarded how small group of fans really tried to make it special here in midwest. It was just a different thing and ritchie just took himself too seriously, like his PA in guggenheim i believe in ny. Just kind of lack of self-awareness.
@@marciukspuks5353 thanks for the explanation... I can see how this is highly annoying as a local. At least I'd probably feel the same if my party people get "attacked" like that. I mean sure, I know we also had people who sucked big time, but aren't they everywhere to some extent? Oh, I just realized that I wanted to watch a couple documentaries about the development of the techno scene in America. I know a lot about how things came to happen in Germany (Frankfurt vs Berlin posse, clubs in both towns and early artists and whatnot), but America, I really need to look into!
@@allyouracid i think they have ravezine called massive still floating around on the web. read few issues and u ll get good idea how we used to party in the states.

I can't believe this interview has less than 7K views.
Respect Richie 🙏

His early stuff is top tier. Check all his work under “F.U.S.E.” And “Cybersonik” on his first label Plus 8 Records.

You are not a "techno head" if you never even heard his name at least
😂значит вы не старый технохед,я я 1997 знал его и как робокмана и пластикмана и Ричи Хотина
@@allyouracidверно
nice interview talk
🖤
I don’t care what those Detroit djs say, Caitlyn Clark is the best techno dj to ever sprout from that scene, hands down.

Got any examples of that? Genuinely interested. I might have an idea what you mean, but I don't have any particular example in mind.
