Soos was initially going to dress as a Teddy Bear -- but good ol' Disney asked Alex to cut it, saying (I sh*t you not) we're concerned this may promote and draw the attention of furries -- yet they were cool with Questiony the Question Mark in all his nearly naked glory.
The franchise known for having an entire cast of antropomorphic animals wearing clothes and a princess that falls in love with what could essentially be considered a furry was worried about this episode.
@@gamerlordthebest The joke is that the monster is depicted like a (mostly) mindless brute in the rest of the episode so you would expect his greatest fear to be something simple and primal like getting attacked by an even bigger and scarier monster, but instead it turns out that he's a lot smarter than he seems and his greatest fear is the very mature and existential fear of being doomed to perpetuate the cycle of abuse that his (presumably terrible) father inflicted upon him.
I'm honestly kind of glad Mabel went off at the end, because while Soos didn't exactly use Mabel's kindness (stuff like that could happen on his best day) Wendy absolutely did. I get that she's a teen and doesn't exactly want to work, but what she did to Mabel deserved the tantrum it got.
And here we have another kids cartoon classic trope; a young character takes over for an adult. It's usually a boring filler episode for most series, but _Gravity Falls_ manages to make it impactful by not just making it about Mabel seeing things from Stan's perspective but also understanding what it takes to run a business successfully. Empowering employees and making sure they're happy at work are great, but it needs to be balanced by holding them responsible for their jobs and making sure their choices aren't going to cost the business and others in the long run. Dipper's ambition to make the Mystery Shack more educational for visitors was well-intentioned, but Mabel allowing him to bring the gremloblin in to show visitors was an extremely bad call for a laundry list of reasons. Stan may be conniving grifter, but he does know how to run a (somewhat) legal business and what his customers want. They come to the Mystery Shack to be entertained by its kitschy attractions, not mentally traumatized by one of the town's many nightmare-inducing horrors.

While not really discussed (in ref to ~21:00), it was hinted at a couple times (i.e. When Dipper said, "Maybe you need to start being a little tougher around here"; When Stan said, "Get to work! Ahem. Please").
Technically, Mabel lost the bet. The bet was that she could make more money than Stan running the Shack HER way instead of Stan's way. And she didn't. Nah it’s 100% roadside attraction. It’s the last episode before the major finale stuff that sets up Mabel not wanting to grow up and Dipper wanting bigger and better things as well as of course the last three episodes. And it’s a tame episode with no overarching story relation smack bang in the middle of a season riddled with MOSTLY only story related stuff. It’s as if they put a season 1 episode into season 2 on accident almost
I'm Stan, and I was wrong. I'm singing the Stan Wrong Song. I shouldn't have taken that chance. Now here's my remorseful dance.

Bruh, you're Disney, half your brand is enjoyed by furries! XD
I can’t imagine how much of a nightmare Disney S&P must have been

Soos Would Be A Great Cuddly Teddy Bear! Even Stan Would Have Sold Soos Teddy Bears.
Flashes to Miss Kitty from Great Mouse Detective.

Their reaction to the Grimlablen's greatest fear was just as priceless as the joke itself lmao!

Agreed!
Also the monster's "You have become your father..." and Mabel's "What have I become!"
Stan doesn’t like “please“ but he does respect “thank you“
haha nice reference to the future eps

13:58 the combination of Montana being S H O O K E T H and Kenny laughing like a little boy is absolutely perfect 🤣
This is one of my favourite non-plot heavy episodes of the show.

Like him or hate him, Stan knows what he's doing.
Well, con artists who don’t know what they’re doing don’t stay in business for as long as Stan has. 😄
I just finished the show and as much as it hurts that it only had two seasons, it ended really naturally and that’s what i loved about it.

Stan has an enormously hard time saying "please", this is something important to remember
Now we have both Mabel and Waddles in the suit!
Also the Bottomless Pit is one of my favorites.
can we just get an "azulas voice actor" counter plz
More specifically a Grey DeLisle/Griffin counter.

True, though she did admit that at the end, so it's fair. "This place was coo-coo bananas until I started barking orders at people like you"
