I went here a little less than a year ago, the same day we explored a power plant not far from there. We went at night, and the stairs were extremely sketchy. I read up on it and saw that there's supposedly toxic waste around the area in the ground.
Those drone shots are amazing. This did look really old! 3:09 That's why a lot of times they don't even tear buildings like that down, they were constructed so well they are hard to demo! Great video even though most is gone! Still worth it to see what is left :)
My second time coming here in November I came only to take pictures and on my way out of the building on the side of the road I was reading one of the two old books that was left behind and then I looked over and noticed in the corner by one of the doors there was a clean green blanket and white pillow together and right after I noticed those I heard loud footsteps above me and I walked out. I waited outside and looked before I crossed the street but no one came out. Even after I crossed the street to my car still didn't see anyone. When I went back in January to re do my first video there the blanket and pillow were still there in the same spot but obviously dirty now. Idk if the blanket and pillow belonged to whoevers footsteps I heard but I doubt it's coincidence considering they were clean my previous trip. I don't know if you noticed a green blanket and white pillow when you were here but if you did I'm curious
Tom VanDamme Can't recall a green blanket or pillow. Didn't run into anyone while I was there. Although there was a red car parked across the street when we arrived with no one in it. It was gone when we left. Sounds like you weren't alone when you went 😬
I know this might be a stupid question but I still want to ask it anyway um but when the title said (Abandoned ACME Coke Plant) they mean soda right because in my head my first thought was coke cola factory that they where exploring in the video🥤
Hi, not a dodgy explore at all lmao. Man you guys got the kahuna's I wouldn't dare do half what you did, a very cool explore of the location though. Thanks for sharing. x
This is amazing! I don't live too far away from there. But how did you manage to get into the factory without getting caught? I really want to get some photo-shoots there before it gets demolished completely. I'm planning on keeping a document of all things abandoned in Illinois as a little history representation
They removed all the structural steel and castings and piping from the ovens but left the refractories and masonry in place. Not a very safe place to explore.
I’m thinking of heading here with a few friends, you got a location of where I should park and enter? Anything I should look out for when entering and leaving?
Coke is a solid fuel made by heating coal in the absence of air so that the volatile components are driven off. Coke is an essential fuel and reactant in the blast furnace process for primary steelmaking. This is the plant where they produced this.
Loving the drone shots. The quality keeps getting better with each upload 👏
Fascinating glimpse into the past. Great intro, drone use and editing. 👏👏👏
Thank you, Angela :)

Thanks my dude! And yeah that's what I figured. It looked like they started on the ovens at 5:03 and gave up
Great video as always. Was very glad to see you pass on that dangling board of death.
Risk vs. Reward. The choice was obvious. Thanks for watching 😁
Great job man! Very good cinematography with the aerials
Architectural Orphans Thanks so much!
Cool stuff bro keep up the great content I am missing a drone Haha.. 👍
Nice video! I will soon be uploading drone footage of the coke plant still in operation at Zug Island in River Rouge, Michigan.
I thought zug Island was closed down?
@@ChrisMerry-lv8xf They still process coal into coke.
Hey hey, love the video! I just went here the other day, and was that a camera on top of one of the buildings?
What drone are you using? Some great quality shots there!

Awesome footage
I currently work at a coke plant in pa and it's pretty nuts seeing one all run down like that
Just finished exploring that place, the stairs on the side are a lil sketch but the top of the building was cool
