2021 was my first year as a road driver at FedEx Freight and I made it to $92,000 for the year. I am hoping and expecting to make over 100k this 2022 as I will possibly be running a little more. I get paid .75 cents a mile, and $33 hourly when I work the dock. I had ZERO experience when I got hired. Pretty good deal if you ask me!
FedEx Freight is the best company I have ever worked for, here in the Midwest we gross over $125k easy. Top centers for this kind of pay are KCY(Kansas City) and SGF(Springfield MO) FedEx has zero tolerance for unsafe drivers, I have to say this kind of money really makes you pay attention to safety being our 1st priority.
@@DallasFort1857 Oklahoma City (OKC) Flagstaff Arizona, Little Rock Arkansas, Indianapolis, pretty much the surrounding Midwest states start salary of $75k to $134k Net top pay after 3 years. The closer you get to the coasts it’s less opportunity because you can only go 3 directions not 4.
I know this is a year old, but Im getting ready to start out of the FedEx freight Scott city, Mo barn. What kind of money do city delivery guys average with FedEx freight?
I got my CDL through FedEx freight one of the best things that's ever happened to me. I was a part time dock worker before I started driving school.. for me it was a 3 week class then I went and took my state test and passed then did another week after that for my doubles. I've worked a lot of dead end jobs in the past and this is definitely not a job but a career full of opportunities. You can make a lot of money for a little work.. you get paid for fuels, drops, hooks, tractor only, tractor switches really the only thing you don't get paid for is filling up on Def but even then that's probably calculated in your fuels. Your pay is based on where your terminal is located. If you have FedEx freight as an option I would definitely think hard about it!
I start next week! Can't wait. Six months in...received two raises. Pulling singles and doubles five nights a week for $1500 weekly. Working Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Easy work. 8-9 hours per night.
@Tanner Stewart, you just need 1 year experience, but was sketchy as hell. I’m with Amazon now the branded tractor trailers, much better. Brand new trucks, trailers, and get to pick as many days or hours as you want.
Yeah, I've been at FedEx freight for 12 years, the one thing you're not seeing is how pathetic the healthcare is. how expensive it is just to go to the doctor, he's not talking to you about that, but that's the straight up truth, that nice paycheck isn't s*** when your health care cost you almost as much as you make. It is genuinely the worst healthcare in the LTL industry.
That hasn’t been my experience, we had three babies with very little out of pocket expense. Many times over the years I’ve had doctor offices be surprised that our coverage is so good. Costs have increased pretty steeply ever year for the last three years, but family coverage for medical, dental, and vision is currently just over $40 per week.
i work at fedex frieght and can guarantee that city drivers do not make this much money. road drivers can and do make this much, but so can drivers at XPO, UPS, and Old Dominion. You're going to be working 70 hours a week though.
How many hours a week does a city driver work for FedEx freight. I just took my urine sample for them today. Also, once you take the urine sample, how long does it take to get a final confirmation for hire or start date?
...no body with FREIGHT has mention that time and a half kicks in after 8hrs of work....not 40 like most companies......that makes a big difference as a dock worker or a city driver!!!!
Fed Ex is literally the best I worked there for only 2 months during the pandemic and just during that short time I was given so many benefits.. from vision, dental, medical and whenever I resigned they even payed me severance pay.
You can do that with about any of the LTL companies. I do 100-110k a year at XPO and know people at Old Dominion, Saia, Fed Ex doing the same. And you don’t need to be there long to get it. I made close to 90k my first year.
@Adam I only know of 1 service center that does that and that’s in Abilene. I’ve been there 10 years and have never had to work the dock after my run. We do work the dock in the middle getting our loads ready to come back but once we get home our day is done.
I have been driving for Fedex Freight for 24 years. It’s all true. We also have a company funded pension on top of our 401K. The second paystub was mine, I texted it to you two days ago.
@@realhitman395 usually a year experience unless you attended a fedex certified training school for 6 months then you only need 6 months experience.. i wanna know if fedex teams is better or ups teams?
I work for Fedex Freight in Southern California. The take home pay being way low then the gross is because we also pay a portion of our medical insurance. I pay for longterm disability insurance, life insurance, car insurance, and some other things it cost me $160.00/week for this. Pretty good program Fedex Freight has for taking care of your family. The medical insurance goes up on us every year.
I applied for a road driver position in San Bernardino CA. Would you happen to kno how they run their extraboard guys out of that location? Its an hourly position do they pay OT to the road guys? Lots of dockwork?
Same at FedEx Express. They constantly give us a 3% raise, basically a COLA, then raise your portion of health care 2% or more. Basically negates your raise. Been that way for numerous years of my 26 year stint with Express. This coming October we will see if corporate does anything thing for RTD'S and the rest of the rank and file employees. Shit is sad imho.
Can you opt out of the medical, just take the life & commercial insurance? I'm also from CA, looking to get into this field taking an early retirement from current employer. Looking to (in future) be regional (solo) if at all possible.

This is true....I work there also, the senior guys make that much driving on the road everyday with most likely a 600 mile run. Someone like me, only getting a 300 mile run a night, you can net around $1100 with working the dock. You can make way more running these low miles buuuut you will have to work a lot of hours on the dock (forklift work). I know a guy at my same terminal that gross over $2200 a week but works a lot of hours on the dock and run the same run I run. I’ve came to the realization that the senior guys that’s able to retire, most of them aren’t going to right away because the run is just so easy to do and the money is so easy to make, and they plan to work until they can’t anymore. Ive been with the company for almost 8 years.
I work for AAA Cooper as a team driver and I make about the same as your senior driver. Y’all taxes must be killing you guys up there. I tried to get into FedEx Freight and the turned me down and came over to AAA Cooper straight into a Road Driver position.
I'm a road driver for FedEx freight. Not at my 2nd year yet am I at $60000 so far. Probably make $80k this year. Still have 2 more years of raises to get.

This video was very interesting! I work for FedEx Express, been driving for 15 years and I'm no where near being topped out in pay. A lot of other drivers been with the company for 20, 23 years and again not topped out. Looks like FedEx Freight is the place to be! Stay away from Express if you want to make money.
They might but it’ll take you many years to get there, also the fact that they have to do teams is not worth it. If I had a choice I would stick to Fedex Freight, no team driving and almost home every day 😉
Yes . Express will help you get your CDL. All you have to do is bid on the job. Once you get it you gotta put in the work. If you want it, it’s there for you! Look for RTD (ramp transport driver) jobs on their network.

Scott Medley I did the same went Through the DDC program did road and city was good for the experience I had to quit could not take the up and down pay Especially during the slow season needed more job stability plus being on call never know when your going it never know if I’m driving today or will I be on dock all day
@@kevinwhite5565 i know what you mean, we are a small only have about 15 city drivers right now, and we having 3 other drivers transferring in within a week or so. We got slow about 4 to 5 months ago because of covid-19 I might missed 1 day a week to let other driver under me get some hours, the lowest man on the pole was stuck on the dock for a little while.
Scott Medley yeah at our terminal we had 50 city drivers and I was number 49 was there for four years and like I said I had to find something that was a more stable I’m not saying that freight was a bad company it was a good company So Now I’m doing daytime linehaul for ground more stable guaranteed pay set time and I pretty much still make the same money that I made at fright and my contractor has benefits and all that so it’s pretty good
Yep, all of these linehaul/LTL companies pay considerably higher than average. I drive for YRC and the money, paid benefits, and hometime are excellent. What they don't tell you is that, with the exception of FedEx ground perhaps, these companies are senority based. The first few months you may only get work on the weekends so it helps to have a side hustle like driving for uber/lyft on the days you don't get any work. Having a spouse whose also bringing in income can help as well, but if you're single like I was when I first hired on at YRC you better have your game plan.
With FedEx you arent going to need no dang second job man. Yrc pay is VERY low compared to FedEx. We get paid ALOT more then you guys even while we are training. No comparison. Yrc =17 while training and 24 while linehauling..FedEx = 26.50 while training then when youre done training 32.50 an hour for dock work and 72 cents a mile while road driving which ends up being around 40 an hour. And we get 40 hour weeks with optional overtime for road driving on weekends which ends up being around 60 an hour. We always get our 40 at least, even if we do dock work.
@@doylee469 Well I'm very happy for you and hope you continue to make ALOT more than us guys. I live in Mississippi and made a crummy $87k last year. How am I supposed to make it on that? I can't even afford to buy toilet paper and I needed lots of it after reading your comment.

It all the depends what terminal you're running out of and how much seniority you have. I worked FedEx Freight for 4 years I did 80% of my driving on the dock on a forklift. I was averaging around 65k a year. If you want 100k move to the middle of nowhere like Odessa or Stratford Tx. I know those guys make over 100k. Don't expect 100k running a short shuttle run in a large metro area at the beginning of your career with FedEx Freight.
I always tell people that if there’s a road driver apprentice position open, there’s probably a reason for it. Locations with good runs often have no shortage of qualified city drivers who would be happy to make the switch to road.
@@ab130 usually road driver spot is open for current employees internally. If nobody wants to apply then they post it on their website so they can hire someone off the street.
@@MrWolf2212 Exactly, and that's why it's a huge red flag when they are hiring an apprentice for a road position. That means not only did they not find a city driver who wanted it, they also couldn't find an experienced outside hire who was interested.
A B wrong, the reason city drivers along with most other drivers surprisingly don’t want to take road jobs is because you have to start off working night, or extra board meaning you’re not guaranteed to work everyday.
GRUMPY CAT wrong, employees apply to the same public posting the public does. Although they do get preference over the public, sometimes it doesn’t always work out that way. People off the street can land the job if an internal employee applied too late. All about equal opportunities.
Everyone NEEDS to know that there is a difference in Fed-Ex Freight and Ground etc. Freight is company, Ground are contractors that look and are always hiring for good drivers with ONLY 1 year recent experience required by Fed-Ex cause alot of drivers are lazy. I don’t wanna be the negative guy but I worked for Fedex Freight as a driver out here in California and I was making anything near that. I was hourly started me out at 27.00 hr and worked 5 days and my hour’s a day where 6 to 8 hrs my paycheck never when above 800 a week l... and I would sometimes cover the road drivers and the pay will change to 35.24hr and only would do 9- 10 hr that night but never made that much and I worked at Fedex freight for about 4 years had to resign because the pay wasn’t right.
As a driver for Fedex Freight i can tell you this is all accurate info. I will emphasize that this only applies to fedex freight, not fedex express, not fedex ground. I am on year 2 of driving for fedex and this is about what i make but it is because of where i run. In a dense city like chicago, where i first started, yes it will take MANY years to get the seniority required to get a run with that many miles. Miles = money. In chicago i would drive 80 miles total for the night and work the dock almost the entire night, still not bad since you can make 20+ per hour depending on where you live. If you want to make big money fast you can transfer to a location where the shortest runs are farther. I transferred to a location in texas where the shortest run is to oklahoma city and that is 250 miles each way, so 500 miles a night. Second shortest run is to albuquerque NM and that’s 300 miles each way. Also when you are driving these long distances you are not required to work the dock. Instead you are PAID while you wait, so i get paid to take naps. The only other thing i will mention is that even though all fedex freight trucks look the same there are two types of drivers. City drivers that do pick up and delivery, driving from customer to customer and road drivers as myself that only drive from fedex center to fedex center. City drivers are paid by the hour. Road drivers are paid by the mile and with big miles that is where the money is at. Also all drivers are paid the same hourly wages/cpm after 3 years. Seniority after that only determines what routes you will get and bidding on vacation slots. Drive safe out there!
That’s great info! Thanks for that. I was introduced to someone that’s a contractor w FedEx Ground and i plan going to work for him to gain experience. After seeing these numbers and reading your info i would love to transfer over to Freight down the line. Will working for a contractor better my chances of being hired on with FedEx Freight or it has no significance?
Luis Rosario I can’t say that it will help but I don’t see how having experience with doubles wouldn’t be a positive. I started out on the dock part time and went through the driver development program to become a CDL driver with fedex freight so i don’t know what the requirements are for drivers that already possess a CDL. All i can say is whatever driving that you do, personal or commercial, do it safe. This company pays higher then average but has higher then average standards when it comes to even your personal driving in non-cdl vehicles. Best of luck to you.
B drives can you enlighten me what is the hourly top out at for city guys also is it true they have a pension plan and what is the pension structure meaning what is the 30 out come to be or how many $$ for x amount of years thnx also from Chicago
I just started working for fedex overnight unloading truck trailers. I’m very interested in getting my CDL an I’ve talked to my manager about it an he told me about the same exact programs I can’t wait to get hands on with it
Seniority is everything here. If your a experienced Tractor Trailer driver elsewhere, this place will probably not be for you. With FedEx Freight you are a Dock worker/Driver. They micromanage your daily ours heavily. I lasted rouphly 1 year until deciding to buy my own truck. Got tired of waiting for local P&D opening.
I’ve been owner op for different companies for a while. 10 years experience but I’m wanting to park my truck and drive local for fedex ready for more hometime with good pay.

I'm a dock-worker at FXF since 2017. Just got my CLP and starting the DDC in a couple of weeks. Wish I had done it years ago, but am so glad to have the opportunity now. FXF is, comparatively speaking, a great company to work for. The benefits are second to none, at least the best I've seen. (And I've seen about 20 different companies). We have so many drivers that have been there 10, 20, 30 and even 35 plus years, it really speaks volumes to me about how good the company is. Every other one I've worked for is a revolving door. I know they exist for stockholders and profits, but they seem to be doing it as well as it can be done in our greedy capitalistic model. At 43, I can appreciate all these things I didn't even see in my youth.
Make one about ups ,feeder drivers make north of 130k with a extra 25-30k towards pension annually Nothing against fed ex freight 100k is still good money
But ups you for sure going to wait 10-20yrs to make this much money getting bum hours for all those years.. some get lucky but its rare to come straight in full time at ups making big bucks from what i hear unless they are desperate for drivers in your area..
Road driver here and I’d agree to almost all of this. Like others have stated you can make $100k a year but it takes time because it’s seniority based. Our shortest runs can still make you 50-75k depending on freight lvls that year. As of right now I’m actually sitting in a ground yard because we are helping them also. When we get slow some freight centers can help the ground side of Fedex. Also people asking about working the dock, mainly it’s you driving a forklift around moving skids of stuff from trailer to trailer. The city side of things is just delivery to businesses and pick up to bring back to the center and loaded on to a trailer to get hauled by a road driver to get taken to the next center to get unloaded at its destination.
How many hours a week does a city driver for FedEx freight work? Also what kind of money generally? I just took my urine sample for them today so I’m also curious how long it takes to get your start date and final offer after urine sample? Thanks
Is your pay dependent on your location in The country? For example I live near Seattle and cost of living is ridiculous. I could have a job up here that pays $70K a year but if I move to Texas or Oklahoma that same job will pay less due to the cost of living for the area. Is it the same for truck driving?
Are there any FEDEX CDL jobs now that we can get now to drive without endorsements just to get into the door? I’m having issues studying. No confidence. I just need a steady job.

Ok what isn’t tell you Yes I know you can make much. But give me the brake down. Holiday extra day and what Else makes up that big paycheck
And every cost of living raise is wiped out by an increase in health care premiums.

Having a spouse whose also bringing in income can help as well, but if you're single like I was when I first hired on at YRC you better have your game plan.
yrc was also based on seniority? What do you also mean by game plan
@@kennyopel you get 1st pick so the more senority you have the better runs or picks you have. Kind of union but without the union fees
Well if FedEx is hiring you then you'll work and we are closed weekends so it'll be work thru the week

You run out of Stratford?
Luis Rosario I can’t say that it will help but I don’t see how having experience with doubles wouldn’t be a positive.
I started out on the dock part time and went through the driver development program to become a CDL driver with fedex freight so i don’t know what the requirements are for drivers that already possess a CDL. All i can say is whatever driving that you do, personal or commercial, do it safe. This company pays higher then average but has higher then average standards when it comes to even your personal driving in non-cdl vehicles. Best of luck to you.
T K I run out of Amarillo but i have done work out of Stratford and Childress many times when they are short handed

3 years then u get maxed.

They make more in NY. They making $36 an hour.

Thanks for the Fed ex info very helpful!!!!!
As a road driver for fedex freight I can approve this message ✅
Also a PT for my truckers hmu 💯
Team Dada yes it's the nights that suck for me ☹️
Bull shi t man
I work for fedex freight only line haul can make that kind of money they work really long hours for that money
Is DDC a driver development course? I'm a current trucking student with a CLP also and would love to work for fedex
Make one about ups ,feeder drivers make north of 130k with a extra 25-30k towards pension annually
Nothing against fed ex freight 100k is still good money
I've met senior UPS feeders who make 150k+. Said over covid he hit 164k one year.
But ups you for sure going to wait 10-20yrs to make this much money getting bum hours for all those years.. some get lucky but its rare to come straight in full time at ups making big bucks from what i hear unless they are desperate for drivers in your area..
Can we get a post Covid up date?
As a road driver are you home every day?
@@MufflePuff yes sorry I just saw this
Not at our center. All good runs and lowest paid run is over 85k... Of course they are starting at top pay this day and time
@@davids5006 since the scale pay has been raised for us we are now over 85k on our shortest run.
How many hours a week does a city driver for FedEx freight work? Also what kind of money generally? I just took my urine sample for them today so I’m also curious how long it takes to get your start date and final offer after urine sample? Thanks
I’m about to embark in this journey 🤞🤞 thanks for the vid!!
You are a real one my G
Is your pay dependent on your location in The country? For example I live near Seattle and cost of living is ridiculous. I could have a job up here that pays $70K a year but if I move to Texas or Oklahoma that same job will pay less due to the cost of living for the area. Is it the same for truck driving?
@mmiller4255 yeah. Moving to San Antonio from Oly.
ok so someone that's been driving for FedEx for 20 years is making 2K-$2500 a week so what is someone making that's been ther for less then a year
Does anyone know if you're allowed to bring a passenger to ride along with you?
Does FedEx has reginonal and pm runs only
Hey Alex great job like always. Much appreciate 🦏🦏
Thanks brother
Are there any FEDEX CDL jobs now that we can get now to drive without endorsements just to get into the door? I’m having issues studying. No confidence. I just need a steady job. Tired of these fake lease companies. I work for JDM. I am grossing $8k-$9k. Paid $2k-$3k but it is a hassle and tired of language barrier and busted planning. No bunk heater, APU, or inverter. I get paid as a Veteran a pension already, I don’t need a lot of money, I need consistency.
Great Job Alix 👍 respect from Detroit

I love your show bro! I just got my learners permit a couple months ago and now I’m just trying to see which company has the best benefits and pay to offer me.
I just got a job as a driver for FedEx express. I’d like to be a pilot for FedEx at the end
How’s that pilot job coming? I’m a cdl driver myself getting ready to start FedEx freight, but would love to become a pilot..
@@hurt1704 I put the pilot career on hold unfortunately. I do have my private pilot license tho. Right now I’ve been taking extra shifts, saving as much as my paycheck as I can to buy a truck and become an independent owner/operator. To which I’ll be able to pay for the rest of flight training cash! And I won’t have FedEx telling me when to go to work.
But you should look into the purple runway program.
@@CarlosAguilar-dj4ph yeah I’ll definitely look into it! I’d love to go work for FedEx
@@CarlosAguilar-dj4ph my only issue is I don’t have a college degree.
@@hurt1704 neither do I, that’s what the purple runway program does. Is pays for your college and flight training. I think they want you to have some skin in the game first. What I mean by that is they want you to have an AA and I think already your private pilot license. But nonetheless it’s worth the time and effort in becoming a pilot. Even if it’s not for FedEx.
I just got a call from them FedEx road driver as well as Averitt Express regional driving now I'm stuck in the middle trying to decide who do I go with?
FedEx is the place remember pension. I retired from FedEx love my pension make the right move
I work for UPS freight and we get .7234 per mile.
I drive for FedEx ground right now and the guys from FedEx freight always tell us good luck. It is to hard to get in.
I’m a FedEx freight road driver in Tampa Florida been there eight years yes it’s hard to get in but worth it.
I’m glad that your with FedEx freight. As of right now I am an owner operator now. Not for FedEx but I do have them to thank for the experience that I had got working for FedEx ground.
Where do I apply how much experience do you need
How many hours on them pay checks. I amagin it's more than 40 hours.
How can ve apply for FedEx truck driving
I got in as a part time dock worker then bumped up to full-time dock worker but I'm in a smaller center but good because we're connected to three large hubs and run a pogo meet. South east Alabama. After two years hard work on the dock has landed me a driver apprenticeship for road driving our drivers are seniority based but even extra board drivers run every night and have plenty of opportunities to make as much money or more. They bump your pay per mile every year and when someone higher up quits or retires you move further up. I'm lucky because our center has several drives about to retire and I'll be in a good spot in just a few years.
I work at Fed ex running team on a dedicated. I make 2380/week gross.
😇
How often are u home? Is this a drive for a few weeks or do u go back home to your family every night?
Home everyday. Work 5 days a week
iv been linehaul for over 10 years double and triple trailers will i have to start with enter level with UPS?
It takes some me time to make that first year you’ll be maybe 1000 a week if the have work and you have to work the yard and work the docks and forklift . So you doing 3 jobs for that money, plus the have seniority so you’ll get the worst routs possible, and the worst out of all that you’ll get the worst truck. A leftover equipment. I do not recommend it but that’s me
I have 1 year class A in Florida. I have my hazmat and tankers but I dont have my double or triples. Will they help me get it or will I have to get it on my own?
I love 💕😘 you man!!!! Thanks for this!!! I am FedEx ground. This is good news!!
i also drive for fedex freight and you can make money as long as that opportunity is there
Would love to see some paystubs send them to 786 353 5674
In CA we get paid per Hr. 36 -40 Hr ,a CA law that was passed few years ago no piece work ,per mile is piece work ,not fedex doing.
I applied for a road driver position out of San Bernardino CA its hourly. They pay ther road guys OT? Lot of dockwork for the extraboard guys?
@@NightShift12am Road drivers have no overtime , But are on the clock 100% of the time except for 2 half hr lunches, only in California though.
