    Honestly, I prefer when the things that go wrong get shown. That's real life, it doesn't always go smoothly. Finding and solving problems is more satisfying than everything just working off the bat.

      Yes, and it also helps to differentiate from the hundreds of fake restoration videos there are all over UA-cam.
      People need to wise up about those videos, but I think it is partly what causes people to fall for scams: they want to believe in it.

      Was about to post the same thing. I'm sure it'll get resolved, certainly the right people are involved to have the best chance of fixing it!

    • @Ran-tan-tan
      @Ran-tan-tan 3 місяці тому +1

      Not to mention that sometimes that may just be the thing that someone else has been trying to fix without luck, and both parties can try to put their heads together to figure out what's wrong, or one of them figures it out and the other one can use that to fix their problem

      this is pt. 3 and the video went out yesterday.

      or just watch the whole thing.

      It is stylised television format. Production quality is very high. They can actually sell their series to television. For that reason bloopers are cut out. Check out Adrian Basement for real life troubleshooting retro gaming, check out Retro Ralph chasing Nostalgia series and 6th part how they winged it. Life is all about getting up again.

    The side art installation process was made much easier by having the textured black layer beneath it - the texturing allows for air release and low initial tack so you can just push any air bubbles out or peel off and reposition if it's not straight - so worth serious consideration over painting on these types of restorations. I would imagine for full-sized artworks it would be a godsend. The only sacrifice is some loss of adhesive strength so it might not be suitable for all types of decal - however in a cozy Cave with minimal contact to the sides it should be absolutely fine.
    Great fun being involved and I can't wait to see the final result!

    Yes, it's important to show the losses as well as the wins. I'm sure I speak to many of the fans of the channel when I say, that a lot of us are enthusiasts of tech in one way or another with numerous hobbies involving repairs and restoration, and it's important and reassuring that it's not just us amateurs who face challenges when repairing things. I think it's often more rewarding watching the problem-solving process.

    Actually checked in earlier today hoping for another video on the Mega Tech but sadly I was too early! This series has been a real pleasure for me, I was never really an arcader, but the Mega Tech was something I played a lot during trips to the Lake District. Spent many hours playing Golden Axe and World Cup Soccer on it. Honestly its been a joy seeing you trying to put this together.

    For hard to remove adhesive residue, in the future, see if you can get hold of and try eucalyptus oil. I learned about it as a teenage retail worker decades ago and now always have some on hand for cleaning. It's great for cleaning up video store game cartridges too, just be careful with the glue you want to keep for the factory stickers

    The phosphor damage is from both the rush of air hitting the front and the particles of broken glass that it took along for the ride. The layer is very thin and delicate.

    for the blue-only on monitor try to first swap the 3 colors at input, if doesnt change try swapping them at the neckboard input, if still blue only, then swap at guns input.
    green and red are either shorted to ground *before* amp or amp is busted and they're shorted to 200v supply (or whatever video amp voltage is)
