Beautiful sunset Olli! Mining is one of my favorite chill activities. Aside from the already mentioned distinction of gems vs diamonds, and the types of gems, here's a few more tips for anyone doing this: 1) Use a Drake Cutlass Black to haul the ROC around. Both the Cutty and ROC can be rented for a decent amount and you be getting in and out of the ROC frequently, so a smaller ship is better. You'll make back the difference from renting and then some on your first run. 2) When you're in the ship flying around, set the scanner to 179 degrees and keep pinging until you see a square pop up at
And you have to flight less than 1000m altitude so you Can recognize easier and find gems. Without scanning juste checking color of rocks you know if its Hadanite. So go for pink/purple and blue one. Green is not really worth and really unstable toi mine. Ok daymar i Never was on it for mining. I had a lot of Luck on Arial or Aberdeen for Hadanite gems. Arial is more beautiful in my mind. But i will give a chance to daymar one day to compare with Arial.
@@JayCubsGaming they don't sell for less. Hadanite is the same regardless of where you get it. Same for aphorite and dolivine. You just get to be more selective and get more of what you find when you mine. Missions do have the added benefit of Call to Arms bonuses and gear looting, but less gems than mining.
There is an important distinction to be made here. You are not diamond mining; you are mining for gems. You can mine diamonds with the Prospector, Mole, and eventually the Orion. But you can't mine diamonds with the ROC or the hand mining tool. You have to mine gems of Hadanite, Aphorite, and Dolivine. When you are prospecting, the difference between the two minable object icons is a gem, or a boulder.
This guy doesn't play very often (i think he only plays when hes recording content), if you watch his other videos you will realize he hardly ever knows what hes doing. But his videos are kinda fun to watch
@@eldente Not really. You can run cargo with diamonds. But you can't hand mine them. Maybe too serious to you, but I think people deserve correct information.
You’re like the Junkfood of Star Citizen, a ton of variability, addicting and not good to my health to keep watching you so much. Keep up the great content.
I have some tips for you! Try to fly closer to the ground and do not exceed 100 m/s approx. If you overdo it, don't worry, but the golden trick is this. The "diamond rocks" mostly never appear deeper than 3000 meters. So you can really ignore anything from 5km onwards. Oh! And remember you can scan the rock before land just pressing "V" and holding left click. That way you know what the stone is before you mine it. Hadanite for the win! hahaha As always an excellent video. Thank you very much for the content.
pro tip for roc mining and discovering diamonds. If you're flying and you find a ship mineable rock, 9/10 times if you scan and a marker pops up less than 2000m away it'll be a roc minable resource.
When you wiggle the rock sucker you end up tossing the gems far behind you. Just leave it still in one place between a bunch of gems, because it has a like a 2 foot pickup radius. But there is a delay, that's why it doesn't just grab them immediately.
Also i've noticed the ones that seem stuck are stuck if you suck them from the other side your not trying to pull it through the rock its stuck behind.... But, that does take a little extra time although that has seemed to help me in the past with the more stuck gems.
When mining was more simple (not a dozen useless mining heads and the awful gadgets) and actually fun, the extraction was more instantaneous and reliable. The backend services are currently being optimized though so maybe that reliability will return soon?
@@jbirdmax I like that there’s a knack to it that you have to learn and players aren’t just instantly good at it. The state of mining right now for me has a healthy learning curve. E.g with the prospector I can mine huge 8k rocks but I have to use the modules in a certain way to pull it off Using a Surge to get into the green (as most ppl know by now you have to hit the second surge at just the right time) a stampede to stay in the green (once you get in the green you have to hit the stampede instantly otherwise it won’t work properly) and I use the FiltrXL so that the rocks break up better with more chance of 100%ers
When extracting you want to hold the beam still until it grabs the rock and sucks it all the way up. Otherwise the rock will leave the beam and be thrown somewhere.
Just be careful not to do it for too long without letting your ROC cool down a bit. I wasn't paying attention and wore out my cooler, causing the vehicle to overheat and shut down.
ugh one of my favorite things in star citizen is being on a lit up moon, and you turn you head and BAM crusader is there in the distance. so close you could almost reach out and touch it. so cool.
boulder you need ships for (mole and prospector) rocks you need rover miner (ROC and ROC DS) stone you can mine with land lazer, and honestly i tell a lot of new players to do this bc it lets you learn how to control your ship easy and theres no risk dying, get a multi tool and mining attachment and then go to aberdeen, get to the planet surface and start pinging, ignore anything that pops up over 700ish meters (in most starter ships) bc the ore deposits that show up farther away are boulders and rocks, you have to be kinda close to the rocks for them to be pinged, u can make roughly 1k per stone u mine and ive seen them generate in groups of 8 so far (depending on what it is obviously but i mostly find hadanite so im going off that) its a nice and relaxing thing to do
I wish they would allow us to put Camera views on blank screens in the cockpit so we could show a side view (pitch), a front on view (yaw), and an overhead (positional) when landing. In 3rd person mode you can use the arrow keys to move the camera into your ship, and see the ground vehicles in your cargo hold. alternatively, you can use this method to find people stowed away on your ship
Your helmet is of no concern to us, but to you. Daymar is comparatively chill for a desert moon, so you can survive most of the time even with a simple flight suite rather than the Pembroke, but in much hotter environments like Arial or Aberdeen a helmet other than the Pembroke one will cause you to still suffer detrimental effects due to the heat, even if it'll take longer than with a normal flight suite or a heat resistent armor. And don't worry Olli, you're not doing it wrong, ROC mining has been buggy since 3.14 or so and CIG was either still unable to fix it or they still haven't gotten around to fix it. Now the servers also lag behind a bit when trying to suck the minerals up and boom, extraction mode feels like cleaning a desert with a toothbrush. In fact, it should work exactly as you described. A slight brush with the extraction laser should start to suck it up and aside from you wildly moving the arm it should get sucked right in. Yeah ROC mining is comparatively lucrative. For Pirats it doesn't matter how far from the mining outposts you do your business though, because they keep observing you and will hit once you've gathered enough minerals for them to profit.
As a ROC miner this was so painful to watch but I forgive you as it is your first time and have to remind myself I was the same, though I did research on it first.
@@steinmayer2791 Hadanite more valuable and plenty on Daymar, 2 man ROC DS is fine if you are just chillin mining all day and not worried about risks of pirates or griefers.
@@steinmayer2791 not really worth. The rock DS was known as a lemon when it came out. It requires a bigger ship to carry, which means less options to carry it, more wasted time from pilot seat to mining outside AND wasted time playing hot seat between mining arm and driver seat. You have a ship carrying you, how much the roc itself can hold is basically irrelevant since you can empty it into the ship. The roc ds means you will have to waste less time between emptying cargo, but much more wasted time between going in and out of seats. There is a reason why a nomad or cutty are the most efficient when mining with a roc. You move fast in the air, take off fast and land fast, get between vehicle seats quick.
Hi Olli, a little SC history lesson about the landing UI. Back in the 2.0 days(where you could not land on planets and moons) there was a landing UI that only worked for pads. But at 3.0 CIG took it away as it was only made for pads and not hangars and planet surfaces. They do want to add it again but better. The only thing that is blocking them is the full ship MFD system conversion to Building Blocks code instead of Flash UI code
The conie is one of the most stealthiest ships in the game, if you turn off all the weapons, shields and all other non esentials. That will lower your energy signature. And if you land, just kill the engines, could turn on/leave the shields on while your landed
Nice, I'm glad that someone made fresh instruction for mining, but... Oli, You must start use directional radar, bind key for change radar angle and use narrow beam to see from distance. Also I suggest smaller more agile ship - is better with scanning and landing. Next thing is - Yes, during extraction You shouldn't move too much laser - it have nice radius of suction, but also it have some success rate, and this is why sometimes hadanite fly around - don't bother with that - waste of time. All is about time to get full ROC. Full ROC is around 250k aUEC. One Tip: Weekend is always most slugish time for SC - a lot 30k.
don't move the arm around when you are collecting the diamonds. Thats why they fly around everywhere. Just place the laser and let it suck up. once it stops move the arm and suck more up.
What I would like to see implemented is being able to mine with the ROC and then go back to your ship and offload your haul and go back out to mine more until you can’t fit anymore crates on the ship with leaving only enough room to load back up the ROC. And also being able to “tune the scan” to be able to select what you are using for a miner it would only show you items that your mining rig can break down.
One tip is that instead of going straight towards the sun to go om1 the North Pole or on 2 the South Pole and go to the right daylight side for north and left daylight side for south
A good way to stop the gems from bouncing off the mining arm when collecting is to keep the arm still while the gems are being pulled into it. Just aim the collection laser at a group of gems, turn it on, hold it still, and wait for them to get sucked up.
Ollie, thanks to you I purchased a Tobii Eye Tracker 5, and man it is great! Already had a TrackIR 5 Pro, but hate the wire and having to wear a headset all the time. Tobii is just as responsive it seems and has no such cable limitations.
You had me confused that you were mining diamonds, then I realized you were referring to the shape of the detected gems. Some tips for ROC miners. Never mine within 100KM of any base. They'll detect you as they are coming in and will gank you. Always go after Hadanite, as Aphrodite and Dolomine are only worth half as much. Bring the smallest ship you can that will carry the ROC, a Cutty Black works. I use my Valkyrie which lets you fit 2 ROCs. As finding an even landing site can be a pain with the bigger ships.
They had a 3D landing system like Elite Dangerous but it was only for the old landing pads. Good news is that's planned to be one of the things added to the UI rework. Love that you still enjoy the sunsets like me.
Olli you need to do is keep the laser straight you move it around too much when you're on the diamond just stay steady if you move it around a lot it's just gonna bounce off your windshield so the idea is keep the laser nice and steady instead of waving it around and yes you learned later on in the video it's more of an art just have to have patience as Yoda would say patience you must have.
I enjoy mining, I just haven't figured out the best way to go about it. I have a Roc and a prospector, for me it's just the annoyance of loading and unloading a roc every time. But group mining where one person scouts and the rest mine has been fun for me.
Man that really sucks you dc'ed right as you were landing to mine. I crashed earlier today right as I was helping someone log some details on a ship-related bug and it really made me wish it was easier to connect with people you just met in game when you can't even select servers like every other mmo, or have a more friendly respawn mechanic when dc'ed instead of most often being 1,000's of km's of away from where you were
Nice to sée you enjoyed this gameplay. And yes its worth to take each fragments Hadanite is thé most expensive ressource in thé game. You Can sell it everywhere at thé same Price. 1 pièce of it is 275aUEC worth. Just in comparison Quantainium IS 44 but After refining 88 worth. You Can bé rich on both mining méthods but ROC mining little bit slower but you Can bé insanely lucky and find Big gisement. Each rock gives you between 20 and 30 fragments. It gives 3 différents diamant types. - Hadanite you recognize it from its pink purple color on it - Aphorite its blue color - and Dolivine its green
Nice I've just done this today for the first time. Been playing since a few weeks before invictus and it was my first roc mining. There's something zen about chilling in the roc.
Pro Tip: The best way to scan for gems is to scan and then check whichever ping that comes up within 4000m of your scan position, it is a guaranteed gem, just earned a 200k in an hour on Ariel, Mine for gems like hadanite on Ariel and Aberdeen where they spawn a abundantly.
I just want to be able to camp in this game 🏕 Have a fire (like the ones at some outpost/derelic sites if im right) to keep you warm during a cold night on microtech. Putting a bed in something like an ursa rover would be awesome!
The extractor pulls the gem towards the nuzzle but if you move it just as the gem "arrives" the gem misses or bounces off. It makes some sense, I guess.
Hey man ive just wanted to tell you that i have been watching your vidios for a while now, and i just appreciate the vidios you make. Keep um the good work! :)
Press V to go into advanced scanner and you can tell what resources are in the rocks when you're close enough to them hold left click in advanced scan mode.
Lol at the end of the video, would be nice if there was some sort of way to flip a ship back over. Like a tow service you could call that had some sort of crane would be awesome.
If I remember correctly did have the parking HUD guide thing in the earlier version of the game, but they've removed it quite some time back for some reason
If the nodes are on a hill or side of a hill a lot of them will roll down.I like using the ROC but just remember it will wear out and also a 30k when you have gems in the ROC that’s off the ship will cause you to lose your gems. That’s why I don’t try to fill it up with gems. Also if you own one 172k in game it’s a good idea to upgrade it just like a ship.
@Olli43 I'll have you know that a romantic watching the sunset in third person as you drive the roc into the sunset was EXACTLY what I signed up for when I subscribed.

The ROC mineables won't pop up any further out than about 1200m when you ping so if its outside of 1200m it's likely a ship mineable...unless they changed it since the last time I was mining. Edit: Your not really doing anything wrong the servers take a few seconds to catch up to the megasuck9000 at the moment. Edit: Last Time I was Arduously Hadenite Mining... I would fill the ROC get out fill my armor and Backpack then refill the ROC it was around 250-275K I think
Hey Olli so cool vid just want to say that I’m gonna buy all 3 Versions of the constellations i’m gonna use the Phoenix for luxury transport for the universe I’m gonna use the Taurus for moving stuff and doing missions and I’m gonna use the other one (I don’t know the name of it) for cargo.
I would love a mining ship that I can put my rock in. I hate that I have to use a non-mining ship to mine if I want to use my Roc. I always come across great boulders that I have to pass up.
I do the initial rock cracking all at the same time and leave the extraction until the end and extract all the gems at once. That way you can suck up tons at the same time saving a lot of time And yes like you eventually worked out keep that daym thang still 😂
so is there a way to toggle off the silliness of the objects blue highlighting? I'd like to at least have the pleasure to search for items to use by myself, if nothing else.

- Hadanite you recognize it from its pink purple color on it
- Aphorite its blue color
- and Dolivine its green
wow
What a trip!
Decent payday, as well. Looking forward to more. 👍
At around 27:30 you search for boxes and mist the on drop off machine and one rigth of the NPC on the floor.
Nice I've just done this today for the first time.
Been playing since a few weeks before invictus and it was my first roc mining. There's something zen about chilling in the roc.
How did you manage to flip the ship at the end ? Lmao
Great video as always ^^
Those 2 white pips at the beginning were rescue beacons. Thats a new feature. It shows for everyone.
Pro Tip: The best way to scan for gems is to scan and then check whichever ping that comes up within 4000m of your scan position, it is a guaranteed gem, just earned a 200k in an hour on Ariel,
Mine for gems like hadanite on Ariel and Aberdeen where they spawn a abundantly.
I just want to be able to camp in this game 🏕
Have a fire (like the ones at some outpost/derelic sites if im right) to keep you warm during a cold night on microtech. Putting a bed in something like an ursa rover would be awesome!
I think they're working on camping! I have seen a popup camping bed.
The extractor pulls the gem towards the nuzzle but if you move it just as the gem "arrives" the gem misses or bounces off. It makes some sense, I guess.
BEST SUN SET EVER really a really nice game right!!
Hey man ive just wanted to tell you that i have been watching your vidios for a while now, and i just appreciate the vidios you make. Keep um the good work! :)
Am I the only one that wants oli to sound effect my entire life with powering on and powering off ships
Press V to go into advanced scanner and you can tell what resources are in the rocks when you're close enough to them hold left click in advanced scan mode.
hahah that ending was great, had too many moments like that myself
Lol at the end of the video, would be nice if there was some sort of way to flip a ship back over. Like a tow service you could call that had some sort of crane would be awesome.
I just finished watching the rover jump from space, so SAME PLANET!!
Flying around a moon like daymar and seeing Crusader over the horizon is one of the best parts of the game honestly, I'm in awe every time I see it
If I remember correctly did have the parking HUD guide thing in the earlier version of the game, but they've removed it quite some time back for some reason
Star citizen, let’s goooo!
You're a miner... I'm a professional NPC T-Pose inspector...
Olli, just a heads up mate. If you ever do gem mining again when you ping if anything pops up under 3km it will be gems.
@Olli43 I'll have you know that a romantic watching the sunset in third person as you drive the roc into the sunset was EXACTLY what I signed up for when I subscribed.
Lol the upside down Connie.
Hely Ollie, great content as always! New SC channel here!
the intro i was so scared he was gonna play mining diamonds
For a second I thought you were in a Redeemer at the beginning and I was just thinking "Imagine working your mining outpost job when a Redeemer makes an approach."
I'm just a lowly Multi-Tool night-time cave miner, stocking my Aurora with as many gems as possible, but making decent cash for my needs.
Ok @Olli43...I'm watching sharing and enjoying all your vids. Have I missed your tour of the Origin m50?! I know you got one! Somewhere....sup with that bro? You hating on the lamborguini or what? lol or did I miss it? I'm feeling neglected...I can't play so content is keeping me alive bro! Thanks for all the content. Can't wait to meet someday in the verse.
Oh, yeah, speaking of the Phoenix...connie...where's your Taurus vid? lol
Dude love roc mining it so peaceful compared to other game loops
Your videos are amazing, I love everything you do. Keep up the great work!
This puts perspective on the Mercury Star Runner's cargo hold. You can put 2 mining rovers in it.
I would fill the ROC get out fill my armor and Backpack then refill the ROC it was around 250-275K I think
you missed a loot box near the MPC at the desk
Hey Olli so cool vid just want to say that I’m gonna buy all 3 Versions of the constellations i’m gonna use the Phoenix for luxury transport for the universe I’m gonna use the Taurus for moving stuff and doing missions and I’m gonna use the other one (I don’t know the name of it) for cargo.
Love the video, great content! I need to use my ROC a little more.
The Ursa fits into the Phoenix, it's a tight fit, but it fits, so the ROC is bound to work.
I would love a mining ship that I can put my rock in. I hate that I have to use a non-mining ship to mine if I want to use my Roc. I always come across great boulders that I have to pass up.
I do the initial rock cracking all at the same time and leave the extraction until the end and extract all the gems at once.
That way you can suck up tons at the same time saving a lot of time
And yes like you eventually worked out keep that daym thang still 😂
If you haven't learned by now, you're looking for pings under 1,000m. They will pop up quick and those will be the ROC mineable.
so is there a way to toggle off the silliness of the objects blue highlighting? I'd like to at least have the pleasure to search for items to use by myself, if nothing else.
what are the default keys to do the mining and switch to picking up in roc? also how to change ping fov like u did to 180 degree?
So way back in the mine!🎵🎶
9364
Thank you for sharing all of the awesome moments in the verse. And yes, that's stuck in my head.. 9364 9364..
6:38 I felt that
Those ai white in the sky is typically a bounty that got spawned
Accually Star Citizen had that Headup Display back in da Day... at least as i remember... I can remember having it on Lorville for example... It might be that i am not right but i image it had it
Yes your ROC is still there the marker for it is floating around on the bottom of the screen.
It's a lot faster if you crack all the rocks first and then suck everything up (and yes, without wiggling the extraction laser) after
The Phoenix is my fav ship i just love how it looks 😍
lol now do it in the nomad!
go around 100ms and check 1000-1200m away rocks only at lowest alti (on Aberdeen)
you can open the doors of the connie from the inside and f4 the Z around to see if the ROC is in your bay.
@10:18 I understand why you would wear the wrong helmet I always have to take of the correct one off when I'm flying its annoying
lol at the end bits hehe
Is the gravity the same on all the planets or do some have stronger or weaker gravity?
Can you use the little Jet on the lower back of the Constellation Phoenix?
Dont wiggle just point at it and wait. If you wiggle the diamonds will fly past your arm. It grabs them in a radius around the laser.
