    Excellent video, it's important applicants understand that rejection is not failure. Every successful person has been rejected in their life. Rejection is an opportunity for learning and a preparation for success.

    I missed my Ucl offer by 3 Marks and the rejection hit me hard. I can totally relate to the part where you spoke about the embarrassment about everyone knowing and constantly asking ...which just makes it worse

      Hey. It’s really hard I know. But especially situations like yours makes you think there was a reason why. And later on you may be glad you missed the offer, as something better came your way.

    My daughter exactly the same as you at doing medicine as a graduate. She also did Biomedical science first. You're very similar in so many ways, including personality, expressions, and outlook. She's currently in the library revising for her finals and thinking about changing her FY1 choices (again).

    Really a good story. Thank you. I've been transferring from computer science to med now. It has been nearly 10 years since I decided to go to do neuroscience. Sadly I didn't quite realise it was med/bio thing and failed in my module exams. I'm now applying for phd studentships in labs in top institutions but has no faith to get an offer (cannot find positions for international students in other unis) . How I wish I had another chance, but life is indeed not always what you want.

      Hi Yang! Thanks for your comment. Success starts with having faith! You need to believe in your abilities for people to see the same. Plus you won’t lose anything by not succeeding in your application. Life does whatever it wants to you anyway. Although we may think, so we don’t actually have that much control. Good luck with everything 💛

    I'm applying to UCL this year for medicine and it was so comforting to hear you talk about how you dealt with things even though they didn't go your way!! Just a couple of questions, how come you were so set on UCL in particular compared to Imperial or KCL?? Oooo and do you have any tips for section 3 of the BMAT?

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  7 років тому +2

      jaaass2809 hi 😊 yes most of the time nothing goes to plan so don't give up! Some of the reasons for UCL were because I was already there for undergraduate, I liked the hospitals they had working with them for the students in clinical years, location was important. And just the general attitude of the university for example it's the first in the U.K. To accept students regardless of sex and race so it feels great to be part such a university 😊 regarding the BMAT I've just made a video on it, but essentially got the BMAT book with lots of essay examples to prepare. Hope that helps! ☺️

I study Medicine in Italy and in May I'm going to apply to the Erasmus+ traineeship project for abroad traineeship. In this project I have to find by myself the hosting university hospital and I would like to do it in the UCL Medical School but I'm not sure if they do those kind of traineeships and who I should write to, and asking what.! I'm 20 years old and after high school, I took a gap year to travel. Then I went into my first year of college and ended up withdrawing because I was not interested in my major. Now I'm going back to school this fall, as a pre med and nobody in my family supports me. They keep telling me to be a nurse, because the road to medical school is a long/hard one. I really want to be a doctor, I'm just scared now since my family keeps putting me down for it.

    • @DrEzgiOzcan
      @DrEzgiOzcan  7 років тому +2

      Paola C I can do relate to it! When I told my family members I would be studying for 5 years they all told me to just become a teacher or kept making me doubt if it's what I really wanted. But now at the end of it all they're really proud and even boast about my achievements. And I'm doing the job I love! So if deep down you really want to do it then be brave and go for it! 😊

    You mentioned that at UCL they ask you questions about your essay from the BMAT but my worry is that under the pressure of the exam, I will end up writing things that I do not agree with later on, but just seem like a good argument, and whether I will be questioned on why I had made these claims.

      Hi Debra. It’s a question I get all the time. I took out maintenance loans to cover my tuition and worked during the summer holidays to make ends meet. I was eligible for a grant from my university which also helped.
      The amount of debt you have at the end of your degree doesn’t change the monthly payments you’ll be making so don’t worry about that side of things :)
