The Truth Behind What Medical Schools Want (UCL)

- I wanted to make a video for anyone who is interested in applying for Medicine or already has an interview coming up.
Back when I was preparing for my interviews, I struggled to find videos/ resources which really explained what the whole process was like and what interview panels were really looking for!
So in collaboration with my medical school, I was given the chance to speak to the director of my medical school along with the admission tutors to find out a bit more about what medical school interviews are really like. In addition to that, I talked about my personal experience and interview some of my fellow classmates to see how all our experiences added up.
Just a quick disclaimer: I wanted to just emphasise that this video is a compilation of experiences from UCL medical student and staff therefore the advice given is geared more towards those applying for UCL Medical School. Whilst the advice may be applicable to other medical schools as well, it is important that you also check what the medical school you are applying for is specifically looking for!
I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Congratulations!! How are you finding medical school ??
Hi there, I was just curious, I've heard the phrase 'UCL doctor' so many times. What does this actually mean?
update: just stumbled across this comment again on accident, I'm now a first-year med student at UCL lol
So what was the answer? 😂
what is the best advice you can give me for applying to medicine please :))

Hey, great video!! Can you do one for pre interview cause there is quite a bit med schools like in the application itself.
thank you!! will definitely try to make something like that soon!
I cannot thank you enough for this video. All the best for this year in your studies!
Hi, what extracurricular do you have and how did you talk about it during the interview? + any leadership roles? Did they have a heavy emphasis on leadership?

So basically be insincere to try to appear to be sincere. If you were to be really into neuroscience and was a huge fan of a particular neurosurgeon linked to the uni/trust then u dumb it down to liking the London night life. This world is something... Great vid btw!
Ucl is really nice but the fees for international students are very high and really hard to afford.
Do you think it's worth it?
Is it true that after graduating international students do not have access to the interesting and more competitive specialties?
Next up: Boris Johnson interview
Woah thank you for the video! I have my interview on Tuesday so this came at a great time thank you!!
Good luck for your interview 💪
update??
got my interview in a week, very helpful thank you!!!
sorry if it’s late! But good luck for your interview 😊
I think with the Virus situation, Iam pretty sure any interviews have been pushed forward, good luck when ever it happens.
Why UCL? 'I will kiss anyone's butt'. Retired MD.
Do they still have the founder's head in a box above the main entrance doors?
I'm a pre-dent but this video is really informative! I plan to apply the advice + insight to my interviews next week!
Really really good video!!🤩Thank u alphie!!🥰
thank you 🙏 glad ya liked it!!
Thank you so much🥺🥺🙆♀️🙆♀️
Happy new year~ Alphie! 我也有個問題想要問:為什麼選擇醫學呀?🤔
happy new year 🎉 oh I think that’s a tough question but for me I chose medicine because it was the perfect balance of science and helping people!
You will be a very good doctor in the future for sure!✨✨✨
most useful video i've seen before and has told me a lot which nothing else really states
Found a lot of helpful tips in this video. So glad I saw this now since I have to do an interview for an internship position in a few weeks and I’m already kinda nervous.
Yip, good tips.
hii, can I ask if it’s harder for international students to get a job after graduating ?
Thank you so much for this amazing video!
Thank you for this amazingly helpful video! After hearing what they look for in a student, I think UCL will be a wonderful place to study medicine :)

Thank you for these videos ! They are amazing and I enjoy your vlogs as well , so if I said ay the interview ( if I get one ) I like ucl because of its location - London is vibrant and always busy I will enjoy studying in london etc as one of my reasons for why ucl , would they dislike it because it’s not really about the uni itself?
Hii! love your videos they help sooo much i have a quick question: do you think being a senior prefect would boost your medicine application?
