Oh snap! Thanks for the shout, brother. I appreciate it. Can't fix 'em all. I've got a bag of Smash Bros carts with bad ROM chips myself. Not sure why that particular game seems to go bad more than others.
Wil's VG Addiction no problem man hope you get a few more subs, I pinned your comment. Yeah I got a super Mario kart 64 with a bad rom it’s the board revision with 2 rom chips I guess it’s the original board before the single chip revision.
I appreciate that you even show failed repair attempts. It is very good to know that you can test these chips using a Multimeter. About broken traces: you post a lot of videos about repairing carts that have broken traces. It encouraged me buy a faulty Sega Mega Drive cart thinking that it has a broken trace. Well it had 18(!) broken traces and I've spent my whole afternoon on that single cart...and eventually got it to work. Good times, good times! :) I have ordered a bottle of conductive paint right after that.
more great tips my man! I'm glad I've never thrown away my failed repairs because there's always fresh knowledge coming out that gives another chance at repair. Thanks for doing what you do
Oh man I missed this in my subbox. Great vid as usual. Kinda sucks that you got a second bad romchip for castlevania 3. Ive never played but i heard its pretty good. I love how you show your mistakes, I feel like I learn a lot from your vids and theyre super entertaining to boot.
For the castlevania you could just use an eprom programmer and a blank eprom and just make a new chip for the carts. Noone will question authenticity with the label and proper contacts.
The cases on the CV4 are different. Correct me I'm wrong, but was the faulty one the older case style? I remember going to toys R us and getting dreamcast controllers on launch day so 9/9/99 and they had stacks of CV4 for $8. Its big plot bro. When I did that jackel gameplay for you way back I played with my friend Big Jerry. He wouldn't be happy you used hyperzone as the sacrificial cart.
Steveburto idk about old or new but the boards are slightly different as in the good board has more through holes for other various size rom chips. hyperzone board is still alive the shell is long gone, I must’ve gotten it from a friend years ago without the shell Edit: Holy crap at 11:13 the shells are different the newer design is the good board, original design is trash.
You should make your own rom chips to replace the dead one's. I don't know exactly what the thing is called I seen John Riggs do it lol. Great Vid as Always.

Great video I got a bunch snes games that don’t work looks like corrosion bought them in a lot and none of them work how much do u charge to try to fix
I guess I could attempt to fix them. If they are severely destroyed it would be best to just swap the rom chips onto a new board, if the games are desirable, rare or expensive. If the games aren’t too bad and a few patches are required I could do that too. I could try and repair them, shoot me an email. Punkanddisorderlygamer@gmail.com
Next time just tin both traces, then tin a bare copper wire. Hold the tinned copper wire with tweezers and apply heat. Just make sure your wire is thin and pre cut to size.
let me ask. i have i non original fau ldonkey kong 2 cartridge. can i meassure the other two chips the same way you did with the RAM chip? those chips that im taloking about, the far as i know should help what part of the ram to be read or something like this. thanks!
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer sure thing, i purchase a lot of famicom clone carts from a video club closed on 98 all good only bad was that one i was lucky this time
You should be fine, enjoy your games. Remember most of these games break from different reasons. It’s like asking why does a disc get scratched? Well mistreatment plays a large roll most of the time.

Thanks👍
I had a Ms Pacman cart with 3 bad address lines too. Not sure what would cause that either. Will's great, he deserves more subscribers
Great to see another video!

I have an older case Castlevania IV. I hope it doesn't stop working.

It’s an eprom programmer, I may look into it in the future I would love to make home brew hacks and other cool nes and snes carts for myself.
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer That would be bad A$$
Thats pretty misleading if you try to sell it as original.
@@rdaws73 They could always disclose the rom is defective and sell it with the eeprom and include the defective rom chip when selling (optional ).
Good one

Bummer on the bad chip. I’ve only had that one time. And I have had 2 snes cart cic lock out chips fail open.

I heard that if you put a strong magnet near them it could do something like that to the games
Great content :)
There was a thing for non working sega mega drive games. i think it was to pull high 2 data lines.
I tried pulling the line to ground like I did in one of my previous videos with a sega genesis cart I had.

Use a single strand of wire to bridge your broken traces will work a lot better
yourdream8u I will try, I do have super fine wire I bought a while back that I never use, I will give it a go next time.
PunkNDisorderlyGamer a strand from bigger gauge wire will work too
yourdream8u ok
Stop using paint? Y recover a paperboy 2 yesterday using it
I like to mix it up plus I couldn’t find where I put the small bottle. Lol oops.
@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer hajajaha
That paint would have been effortless on the first cart, a simple dab and it would have done the trick.

@@PunkNDisorderlyGamer heh. I know:)
nice work keep up , but please change the background music it’s so annoying
Retro Algeria too loud or just off putting?
PunkNDisorderlyGamer it’s not loud , just change it with some snes games music that would be great
Retro Algeria ok cool any recommendation? It’s hard to choose sometimes. Remember sometimes it’s copyrighted too.
