    I can see I'm 8 years too late to the party. But, I'd still like to comment, anyway. Because of you guys at Rapido Trains, Inc, I've fallen in love with RDCs. I recently purchased my first and only HO scale RDC, and I plan to buy more...with some help from eBay. I appreciate you guys because of your penchant for accuracy. I'm a stickler for "accurate" small (HO) scale train models. I enjoyed watching this video. 👍

    I used to ride RDC on the Maryland commuter rail (MARC system) between Baltimore and Union Station in Washington, DC. It took a long time for the train to get up to speed. There was no frills. The train crews were contract CSX. Their uniforms still had the the B&O Railroad buttons on then.
    The equipment was eventually retired and replaced with typical commuter rail equipment.

    Very informative video! In Oregon, we're lucky to have 2 in service on the WES commuter rail. I've seen them before, but never ridden them.

    I didn't know a thing about these. When Budd and GM got together to build one I didn't know how it turned out. The video gives me some info that I didn't have before. I am a big GM fan and had just recently dug up some trivia online.

    I rode on a VIA Rail Blue & Yellow Club Car before they were retired in the mid 90's. The interior colour scheme definitely was not purple.

    • @rapidotrains
      @rapidotrains  4 роки тому +1

      The cars were rebuilt into Club Galleys by CN in 1971-1972... with primarily purple seats. Some seats were red. VIA did a cosmetic rebuild in the 1980s and replaced the purple leatherette with dark brown and the purple upholstery with light brown.

    Thanks for the information about the RDC. I have a request from your Company. I know the extensive line of your products are in HO gage. The O gage users have no RDC product to purchase. Have you considered going into the O gage field specifically the RDC product. I realize the additional cost involved but why not survey the model train industry and see if a market might exist for an O gage RDC.

    Any chance for a copy of the LRC? It was the train that brought us to Canada. After working on the APT-E (I've got 2 of those ordered) we moved to Montreal and my Father worked at MLW on the LRC. By the time I knew about it the reserve date had passed. If it's not possible then no hard feelings.

    Apparently the downside of this lower cost train was the flimsy design of the ends (consisting of thin stainless steel and a frame) providing little to no protection for the engineer in case of impact. www.trainsarefun.com/lirrphotos/LIRR%20Engineer%20Patrick%20Molese%20-%20Vignette.htm
