    I'm curious to know what you think, guys. Are you a developer or a designer? How much do these features affect your productivity?

    • @salemkittenkat
      @salemkittenkat Рік тому

      I'm both, and these features excite me for my upcoming projects. I think almost all of the features will affect my productivity. Design takes time. With these tools, it'll be easier to not just make really great designs, but to quickly convert them into code for the development process.

      Dev. Hate when other devs copying code from figma. I think they should remove this feature, because devs think it produces production code

    • @tavusion
      @tavusion Рік тому +1

      I'm both. The new auto layout features are exciting; they're now closer to flex-box.
      The variables are amazing, but I think they'll see the most use by framework/UI Kit designers that we can just use.
      Dev mode is convenient for checking padding values, etc. The code inside figma should still be avoided by devs.

      As a developer I think this is great. It is one more step closer to Figma's secret goal of becoming the number one nocode/lowcode design and dev tool in the world. Webflow, watch out.

    Unless they’ve significantly improved the code generation, I see these developer features being fairly worthless.
    I worked on several projects where I had to translate Figma designs to functional webpages and the generated CSS in the inspect view was always completely wrong. It was usually faster to write it completely from scratch and use the rulers between elements to get the desired margins/padding. I think this is because the markup ends up differing ALOT from how designers end up laying out their components in Figma.
    If code generation has not improved I see these variables leading to designers making responsive layouts all in one mockup and it will take developers even more time mucking around the Figma UI to change to the screen layout they need to see rather than just scrolling over to the next mockup.

    It’s a very great update, but the more I use dev mode, the more I see new features that should be in both. Why would developers be the ones to get asset thumbnails in the Explorer? That’s a huge quality of life feature.

    • @juxtopposed
      @juxtopposed  Рік тому +1

      You're right. It seems like that could be implemented in both modes. I think they mainly did it because developers are often the ones to ask for the assets from the designers, while designers usually "own" the assets.

    Awesome features! Took them long enough. Its like the game, Skyrim. Simple mods can make the game better 300% but the game devs were too lazy to implement or took them 3 years to implement it. I quite dislike it when lots of new features released or major revamp occurs because it seems I have relearn the tool.
