There seems to be some confusion about when I said "not so popular stories like Sonic.exe". Apologies for this. I meant the word "popular" as in "not well-liked by the masses".
Obviously, that story is one of the most well-known creepypastas out there.

The ending makes it sound like Bart dying caused the end of the world, which honestly makes sense seeing as he ends up being the cure for a plague in one episode.

@@yuckier4762 in th universe of dead bart maybe the episode is a cannon but diferent since bart falling off the airplane and dying changed the treehouse of horror XX.
That shot of Bart's corpse is horrifying. If you were a very young child when you saw that image, that would remain in your mind forever.
The one with Bart in the casket or Melting Homer? The image mainly used for Dead Bart is Homer melting out of nowhere in a normal episode when he picks up Bart from baseball practice, which wasn't a Treehouse of Horror episode. The episode goes normal after it occurs. Aside from the Halloween episodes I wonder how many kids saw that image and then saw it on the creepypasta.

My favorite part of Dead Bart is the sequel, "A Dead Bart update"
In the original, Homer says something inaudible staring at Bart's grave and all the ones in the graveyard.
In the update, it's revealed what he said, and it makes the ending to this even more unnerving in my opinion from the implications.

@@pokecraftnewfunkymode4395 That same sort of cliffhanger ending, as in the story, the main character and a friend of theirs watched a version of the episode that was on a tape, the friend somehow saw a news report from June 6, 2013 of millions of people dying in their sleep. What Homer said might mean that Bart was lucky to die before that day while he and the rest of the family were left with that knowledge of an inevitable date of death, at least that's my interpretation

The thing that really makes the ending for me, is that this ending is also the exact reason why Matt Groening was so desperate to hide it from the public. Imagine having to live with the fact you created a show that predicted not only the deaths of other people, but the end of the world itself.

@@zacharyreynolds4303 It was actually a pretty popular Creepypasta back in the day, but then the author got some negative feedback and basically started acting like a man-child instead of taking the feedback and working with it.

It’s a shame that brilliant final 2 sentences has to be attached to a story that is mostly just a run of the mill ‘lost episode’. Though actually hearing that important detail at the end makes Matt’s reasons for wanting to hide the episode seem understandable (in the story obviously. Dead Bart never existed)

Ah Dead Bart. One of the classic creepypastas from the golden age of creepypastas, kept us all up at night after first reading these stories but that’s what we all loved about them!
Right? Such a good and spooky read back in the day.
1999 was my favorite during the golden age. Sadly it never got updated despite ending with a cliff hanger in 2014

I have thoughts mostly concerning why Springfield is in a state of decay... maybe it's from the perspective of the remaining family members, and the decaying world symbolizes that the way they see the world had changed for the worse.

I think the fact that there were several times the Simpsons unknowingly told the future makes the ending hit slightly harder for me. It’s so genuinely creative and fitting if they meant to add it for that reason.
I love how the ending is a play on how Simpsons has a tendency to predict the future.
That’s the thing I love the most about this creepypasta. It’s the perfect way to end a story

Cliches can still be scary. Hyper-realism, for example, implies that the fourth wall is weakening…
SOMEBODY SAID IT! Just because the author writes “the characters eyes became hyperrealistic and screams echoed from the TV” doesn’t mean that they’re lazy or unoriginal.
The reason the term is so looked down upon is because it lacks detail and is very over-used as a term. It CAN work, but it needs to be supplemented with actual detail of what's happening and WHY the hyper-realism is so scary and unnatural.

The creators normal artstyle is very close to their photoshops of actual humans, with long facaes and spaced-out eyes, so it makes for very creepy imagery and the eerie, "they look like cartoons but not in a fun way" feeling that the hyper-realism-spouting creepypastas wanted you to feel, but couldn't due to lacking visuals or details!
Cliches can be scary... This is not the case.
(Not so) Fun fact: someone has been “sucked” out of a plane window before. The woman wasn’t fully sucked out of it but a majority of her body was if I’m remembering the story correctly. She died from asphyxiation I think.
Also on a British airways flight, a windshield detached and the captain was sucked out. He survived, due to his feet getting stuck on the yoke giving crew enough time to hold him.

He literally put it as contrasting with ones that are well liked, so it's clear it wasn't a slip of the tongue, look at the context before coming up with dumb ideas.

That ending never hit me until today, adds a whole new meaning to the story. Reading it back in the day I just assumed it was like all the other lost episode creepy-pastas but realising that plot twist changes everything!
Reminds me of creepypastas such as “The Keyhole” and “The Portraits” both with very good plot twists IMO.

Funny. None of the summaries of this creepypasta I’ve seen have mentioned the ending. In my opinion, it’s the most memorable part, as it functions kinda like a final shot in a horror movie.

This is one of the reasons I liked the Fallout Numbers Station creepypasta so much. Other than the fact I'm a huge Fallout fan, it's the ending that really puts the cherry on top for me, with a cliffhanger that implies something sinister in the not so distant future.
Well apparently the queen is still going on after 2014 that’s for sure.
The last few dates however feel like it could become a reality.. as terrible as they seem.

Honestly…This is one creepy pasta I actually believe. I theorize that it was an early attempt at creating a ‘treehouse of horror’-like episodes and the writers took it too far, and now the creator doesn’t want to admit it’s real. These days, even the official Treehouse of horror episodes are becoming more and more unsettling…like last years where Barts toys murdered him and turned him into a toy, or the year before that when homer ate himself…. Think about it.

I couldn’t take the ending seriously. You do realize that the creepy pasta claims, there was an in released episode that not only didn’t follow the format of any other episode, didn’t try to be entertaining, didn’t have a coherent narrative, was unreasonably dark, and didn’t make sense in general, somehow predicted the end of the world.

There Is a much lesser known sequel called "A Dead Bart Update" that actually expands on a lot of what the first story hinted at such as the date on the tombstones
EDIT: There is also a spin-off ralted to Dead Bart called Not Long Enough, based on Futurama rather than the SImpsons, but directly references Dead bart and I'm almost 100% it's from the same author

While I can agree that the ending has a unique and interesting concept, In my opinion I don't actually think it was well executed, at all. The concept the story itself is not frightening either. Creepypastas that are based on established, cartoonish, popular, or children's media usually do not do very well. For example no matter how much blood you put on Sonic.exe, I'm never gonna be scared of him, because he's sonic, Sonic as a character has been established enough that he can't really be scary. There's a similar situation with Squidward's sui*ide (don't wanna say the actual word so this doesn't get taken down) but then again the only scare factor in that creepypasta is the random insertion of dead kids, but that's besides the point. In my opinion, the Simpsons suffers from the same fate. Nothing about Bart's "hyperrealistic" corpse is scary, because it's basically just the literature version of a jumpscare. And the majority of the second act is just the rest of the cast (very boringly) mourning over Bart's death.
The ending itself, while yes I do agree that the idea of it is interesting, in my opinion isn't executed well. it's so disconnected from the rest of the story that it just gives the reader a bit of whiplash to be honest. I also don't want to sound like an ass, but to claim that it's the best ending to any creepypasta ever I just think isn't true. Candle Cove I would argue has a way better ending. It has good and scary implications for the characters, it's well connected to the rest of the story, and overall the punchline just hits way harder. The ending itself is also a 2 sentence horror story (at least if you have the context of the story). Also the rest of the story is just a way more interesting piece of literature to read (Billy I actually recommend covering this story in a later video, its great!). Back to Dead Bart though, I just think that the ending (again, while interesting) isn't executed well because it just makes the story go all over the place because of how disconnected it is, the horror punchline at the end has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the story at all. (Also the "Homer makes a joke but it is inaudible" line kind of took away from the tension at the end for me.)
I would also like to just say that there is an actual Dead Bart sequel, which was made by the original author. (spoilers ahead, of course.) I wouldn't recommend reading it at all, it's just really bad because it doesn't really make much sense and it just seems that the author wrote it to answer fan's questions. Which he does. He reveals what Homer's joke, was which is "If only we all were that lucky". and the year of death on the tombstones, which was 2013, (lmfao).
Again, I didn't wanna sound like a jerk in this comment, I just wanted to say my two cents on the whole thing and why I think you should maybe reconsider saying its the absolute greatest ending to any creepypasta ever. I was still entertained by the video though! (I'm a real big fan of your editing, keep up the good work!)
Hit the nail on the head my friend. Using a pre-established character, unless handled with absolute perfection, will always result in scary story that falls short of its mark.
Honestly a better creepypasta that uses these concepts is definitely The Dark side of season 8, its a family Guy creepy pasta that at least was pretty scary
@@danielasarmiento3101 Bruh that one sucks its just some guy who influenced the violent imagery in the season. They never go anywhere with the fact that Steve has all these connections or a taste for violence. They just say he has it and move on. Very empty story.
I think making a horror story based on a pre-existing or cartoony character can work, but it has to be done very well, and not just say "Mario is now serial killer or something." Making the world around them creepy while keeping the character the same could be interesting, or maybe showing the character's fall into horror would be more interesting imo.
I think the creepyest part of it was the idea of a lost gruesome episode itself, and most of us were young when the creepypasta first appeared, so it was more shocking.
Nowadays it isnt scary anymore.

Sure, their elements are more or less seen as cliché now, but there's just something exciting and disturbing about the idea of your favourite childhood show having a dark side. One that the writers don't want anyone to know about. Because they know if it got out, it'd ruin the childhoods of so many.

Honestly now that you mention it, the scariest part IS the ending. I didn't give it much thought as a kid but the older I get the more that makes me uncomfortable, especially with all the shit that goes on in the world. Just considering mass extinction like that gives me the creeps.
I think I rewatch your Godzilla NES video all the time. It never gets old. The way you analyze these stories gives them a weirdly new perspective that I didn't consider reading those pastas as a child. Keep up the good work my guy. :)

I always liked to imagine that, due to The Simpson's history of predicting the future as well as the fact that the Simpsons themselves are based on Matt Groaning and his family, that Dead Bart was the show's prediction of Matt Groaning's own death via broken aeroplane window, which is why he was so emotionally distraught about it. The celebrities death dates were only an addition that strengthened either the show's or Matt Groaning's ability to tell the future. The writers for S1 were only unconfutable about episode due to some of it's predictions becoming true, with them fearing the prediction of the celebrities who die on the same day.
