Perch Fishing on the Calumet River. 12/26/2021 **Bonus talk with the IL Natural History Survey Guy

Max and I had a great day of perch fishing at Calumet Harbor in the Calumet River, Chicago, Illinois. The University of Illinois had a gentlemen doing the Illinois Natural History Survey on perch at Calumet Park. That's where I come in the to enter Lake Michigan. Will have to try there next time we go to other area to do are perching but just another place when we are out.

Is the entire river IL licenses. It appears to be when i look at google maps. I heard after the second bridge IL licenses is needed.

Yes it is. However there is a reciprocity map on the internet that up to a certain bridge you can use an IL or IN license.

How far is it from the launch to where you fish on the Calumet River? I'm thinking about driving over from west Michigan.

Maybe 2 miles. It’s straight north out of Hammond and we were fishing in and around Crowley’s marina. When the temps increase the perch move out to the lake.
