The best part about corralling all like items together is realizing how many of something you have. We had SO many blankets and towels and once I had all of them in one spot, I realized I could donate so many of them to an animal shelter.
All great ideas. I also eliminated hampers by just using laundry baskets. I also never buy any clothes that require special washing. Makes life so much easier.
On board with the socks, I stopped sorting them years ago. I buy 2 pkgs at a time, exactly alike, I don't match them, just dump them in a drawer, any 2 I pull out always match. When they get too worn, buy 2 more pkgs. I love your suggestions to simplify, love your mom in the videos also, she's a hoot!
yes love the sock tip!! I have done this with my husband and daughter's socks. I dump them all in a drawer, don't even make pairs. When one gets a hole it doesn't matter because they all go with it...eventually another one will get a hole too.
We do the sock thing and it started with 5 kids and sock overload. We then switched to black socks so that they didn't show wear as quickly as white did. Great video!
I’ve been doing the sock trick for years, such a great way to simplify and not spend time on something I feel isn’t worthwhile. We got rid of the laundry hamper completely and put dirty washing straight into the machine. We have a small space above for items that need to be separated, but mostly it just goes in and get turned on when it’s full. I’m so much more on top of washing this way too.
also on the socks, if one gets a hole, you only have to throw 1 away. the other can be saved for when another sock gets a hole. I also only buy black or gray socks. no need to try to keep them white. one less thing!
I thought I was the only one who didn't buy clothes that needed extra care. In fact I purposely made sure family members knew that as well. Being a single parent who had to work full time, I didn't have time fir that extra fuss. I also simplified my socks as well. I only wear one brand and only have black or white socks. Black for work and white for other days.
Finally had time to stop and listen to this with greater focus, and it's really full of excellent ideas and tips. Keeping like things in the same place is one thing I'm trying to implement after years of house projects left things stored randomly in boxes; then added in things from my mom's estate, and there's a lot of sorting to do. Slowly working my way through and have managed to sell about $2K worth of items over the past two years. My COVID hobby! I also liked the "being content" item-I think this would make an interesting segment on its own-maybe go deeper into that one, too!
My brain wants to get things done as soon as I turn your videos on! Today was laundry I had been putting off! Levi was mad you didn't put him in the video longer! He's adorable!
Beautiful clip ! ❤️ Very nice Vlog, Can You make clip.. Organisation, cleaning office desk - Paper Organization Declutter - sorting ripping..normal speed?
LOL I'm very allergic to ironing🤭!!! Anything that requires dry cleaning or ironing doesnt make it in my wardrobe! I'm a big fan of batch working, I find I'm a lot more efficient this way. Yes, same here I'm happy with what I have and appreciate it!🤗 Levi is adoooooorable and sending you big hugs from Canada!😘
I have not ironed anything for 22 years.. when I moved into a house with a smaller laundry, so no room for a fold down ironing board.😁 If clothes are hung up properly to dry they don't need ironing. 👍🇦🇺
@@rosalynne8792 I had an aunt who used to iron everything, bed sheets, undergarments, nightgowns, towels etc!!! She did so until her late 80's! Well I certainly won't break her ironing record anytime soon!🤭 take care and God bless🌷
@@fabienneroure9995 Back about 50 years ago, fabric was usually pure cotton, wool, silk. No "man made" fabrics. So they creased and "crumpled" very easily. Most clothing did need ironing..and even cotton bed sheets were ironed by many. And, even earlier NO electric irons.🤔 Thank goodness for electricity🤗Mind you, natural fabrics felt amazing. But the "manmade" need little ironing. I, personally, like a good mix of natural and manmade...also healthier for our skin. Must admit though..harder to find clothes with a good percentage of cotton or bamboo. And, really hard to find wool. I really love my cashmere ponchos. I actually still have a cotton sheet...used as a cover for"formal" clothes..really heavy compared to today's bed sheets. Yes..thank goodness for so much today..👌lol. And yes, 👍likewise to you.. 🤗🇦🇺
@@rosalynne8792 You're absolutely right! Now that you mention it, I do recall my aunt telling me she was doing all the ironing as a kid because she was the oldest. She was so used to it and she was always impeccably dressed (even when she was simply dressed). I don't even own an ironing board and for the "once in the blue moon" I have to iron I fold a bath towel on top of my kitchen counter. Last time I used it was for stickers you iron on t-shirts! Best wishes from Ontario Canada🤗🌷
LAUNDRY - by early middle school kids would be doing their own laundry . That alone helped immensely. It wasn’t that complicated plus they were capable of handling it. 😊
Yes, so true about paying for stuff that saves you time! We have two shark self docking vacuum cleaners because it is a huge time saver. Especially after supper, or when my kids play with kenetic sand.
SOCKS - did the same for grand-daughter and our kids when younger. Was better that we chose their clothes. plus those different, cutesy , image socks are forgotten once their on and covered by shoes .
Shannon, we have a kitchen like yours. Our house was built in 1949 and we have a corner that has waisted space also. I usually keep the crockpot back in there but I think I'm going to do like you did and put things in the corner we might use a couple times a year. Great idea! Also may I ask where you got your kitchen counter tops! Dianna
I love the yearly photo book idea. How many photos does it end up being? I loved your batch idea. I was thinking I could use this with homeschool, cleaning, cooking, even errands.
Hi Amy, for the photo book I usually just pick out a few photos from each month of the year. I guess it depends on what we did each month. Holiday months usually have a few more photos. =)
Great tips!! I need to get my photos organized and more photo albums printed out. Question, once you have printed your album for the year do you erase the pictures on your phone?
I then transfer them to a thumb drive & label it with a paint pen for that year. Then you can feel confident deleting those photos, because you have a backup 😉
Hey, Shannon. Thanks for the useful tips. ❤ I used to have the plant behind you, and it lasted for many years. I forgot the name, and I'd like to get a new one. Do you know how it's called? Thanks.

Love that!
I like to revisit closets and drawers throughout the house to both declutter and reorganize. I like to call it "tidying".

Great idea on the socks.
Batching chores has been a GAME CHANGER for us as well!
II like the tip for sicks. and I will even go further to buy the same for me and my husband. hihi. thank you
Yes the sock idea is perfect. I do it for my kids too. Kids with a similar size food share the same (washed) socks.

Same!!! It makes life so much easier. Black doesn’t show dirt either.

I love watching your channel! My mom and I are always decluttering our stuff 🙂 God Bless ❤
Thank you! I hope you have a great day.
Great ideas! I have been buying the same black socks for several years now. I love it, makes getting dressed so much faster, no lost socks anymore.
When I buy socks for my son, I buy about 10 or 12 pairs of the same sock. When they start the wear out, I toss them all and buy new.
You are such a light! I love watching your videos and learn so much every time. Thank you again! Have a wonderful day :)
Great idea to save photos as you go! I’m using that one.

I need to try that sock tip. It's so simple too. I'm like why hadn't I thought of that? 😅 Levi is so cute!

mine were younger than that. It's a great life skill to learn early.
Good training to be responsible adults.
Good compilation of excellent ideas. Thanks
So many of your tips are just common sense, but I realize there are many people who probably never thought of those things.
I agree! I like to say common sense isn't very common anymore lol.
Good ideas! I agree with the mindset of being content!
Also, put focus on others, rather then more stuff, which you also do. 😀
Well said!
Great tips. Ur hair looks amazing as usual n Levi is adorable.
Hi Levi! All really good tips; and there is always room for some improvement in certain areas. Thanks for sharing.
Having a clothes basket for whites and darks and towels saves time sorting
I do that too.
He's SOOOO cute!!!
Great video! Thank you for the continued inspiration!
This was very helpful! 😊

I can't remember what that plant is called. I know I got it from Ikea (of all places) years ago and I am actually shocked it's still alive.
