The irony is she was upset because she thought he had run off to disappear again. But he ran away only for her, to mail that letter that would bring the FBI to their knees and submit to his terms, which was that he wanted her with him. It’s really the way he knew to tell her he loved her but because he did it in his Jane-way, she didn’t know it. This also is probably why he wasn’t sure how to approach her about his feelings. Because she kinda tells him here she isn’t interested in this new chapter with him.
Watching clips of The Mentalist made me think, boy, has network TV programming deteriorated that badly these days. All the good shows are on HBO, Netflix, Amazon or Hulu. Reality dating and game shows are now the mindless entertainment of choice for the networks. The Mentalist, in today's network TV, would not have lasted 7 years.
It's call making tv programs on the cheap. Reality shows don't have a staff of high quality writers like those of The Mentalist (23 writers in total). Which is why anyone with a choice don't watch network tv anymore. I have not watched tv in years.

I wonder what he would have done if Lisbon would really have gone back to washington instead of accepting the fbi job offer...would he have given up? I have personally felt that the reason he came back was because he was missing her and didnt even know it until he saw her again in the fbi office. you can see the realisation and the relief and joy on his face..that she was what was missing in his life. It really made me feel that she shld have held her ground just to see if he wld have made the effort. He always took her for granted. That is why when she started moving on it really threw him off. He cldnt predict her anymore coz his own feelings were clouding his perception.
Maybe he would've... I mean, the whole 'moving on' thing that Fischer told him in the island sounds a lot like starting a new family for Jane (bc that's what ppl have told him, over and over again. Not moving on from his old home, his life as a physic or anything, but moving on from his dead family and create a new one) and that's why he thought about Lisbon right away and wrote his demands on the spot. He wanted to come back to her, he was (kinda) finally ready to have something with her

I can get how Lisbon was annoyed at Jane for orchestrating all of these changes in her life, under the assumption she wanted them. She was with the FBI not because she wanted to be, but because she was part of Jane's demands for working with them. He had assumed she would be OK with all of this, it never occurred to him that, while glad to see him again, she didn't necessarily want to put up with all of his shit again.What she had was nice, quiet (and boring), but that's what she wanted..
