The thing about outlets is that everyone believes they are getting "old" merch or "last year"'s jeans, but recent investigations show that those "discounted" items are mass produced specifically FOR outlets, and they don't have the same quality as the items sold in regular stores...! Careful what you pick up, and if you want to know more, watch this investigative piece that was done (in Canada, but it's the same as the US) two years ago. It's called "Outlets vs. retail", done by CBC Marketplace, and they had a fashion expert guess which pieces were retail and which were outlet; she was right 100% of the time, and it came down to quality and materials being different. There's even a way you can tell by the tags! It's on youtube, check it out! Also, those Chanel boots are SO ON TREND, but they are SO YOU! lol Great purchase!
Kate Malone I knew a men’s clothing manufacturer/designer and you are absolutely correct.
They take orders from TK Maxx/Winners etc and make products specifically at a reduced cost just for those discounted stores. Same design or style as sold in current season but will use far cheaper quality fabric/trimmings etc.

This is for sure true. When i was a teenager I worked at a Banana Republic store. We weren't allowed to take returns from the Outlet store because it was an entirely different brand. The clothes were not made in the same place and definitely were not the same quality. Really interesting, but definitely true for a lot of the outlet "brands" in the US.
Kate Malone John Lewis in the UK does this. They make items just for the January sales
Oh yes, no question about it... the merchandise in many outlet stores is specifically manufactured for the outlet and has/ never will be offered in the "real" retail store... IMO not necessarily a big difference in quality between outlet and retail brand but also not much difference in price... I do think Off5th and Nordstrom rack carry true " outlet" selection of items did not sell in retail

I love the Drunk Elephant Sukari Facial! It’s one weekly must haves - I put it on 20 minutes before my Sunday shower and then wash off, pamper my face with all the oils, lotions and creams so my skin is ready to face the week.

just a tip, next time you are over in chicago, a farther drive is the outlets in pleasant prairie, WI but the tax is much cheaper, (5.5% vs 10.25%)

Hi Fleur, just a tip on the Joe’s coated jeans- try not to wash too often, gross I know. But the coating on mine washed out right away. I didn’t dry or use hot water and they still got like that. Granted, they were one of the originals from a few year back so maybe the quality is better. But mine looked crappy after about 3 washes.
Turn them inside out to wash.

Really bummed that I met her in Sephora in Chicago and went up to her to say what a big fan I was and she didn’t give me the time of day. I’ve watched her for years and years, and felt I grew with her as well. I said I’m a huge fan and she couldn’t care less. Biggest disappointment ever.
That's a shame. I've always had the impression that she would be like that but had hoped I was wrong. Feel bad for you.

I literally just got in from Chicago (to the UK). LOVE THAT CITY xx
I tried a sample of that Baby Facial and after only a few seconds I had to remove it as fast as I could because I started to literally get a chemical burn! My skin turned super splotchy red and irritated and burned like crazy! Mind, I don't have that sensitive of skin AT ALL. I have NEVER had that level of burn from any product before. Glad you like it, Fleur, but something to beware of even if you don't have sensitive skin. I will never go near that stuff again!
I got two pairs of joes a few months ago and they are super soft! But I had trouble with the ones I bought because they don't hold their shape very well, like maybe they are too soft? I feel like I"m constantly washing them to "shrink" them back down since they stretch so much.
