This car has a unique feature. Due to its short-stroke engine, it needs to maintain high RPMs to produce power.
On the other hand, the successor to this vehicle, the M400(code name) Spark, has a 3-cylinder long-stroke engine. When driving both the M400 Spark and the M300(code name) Spark in similar conditions, you can feel the difference in torque at low RPMs.
I'm aware that there are different displacement versions depending on the country of release, but this comparison is between the same 1L engines.
Most 1L engines from other manufacturers also use 3-cylinder long-stroke designs to improve efficiency.

I also drive a Chevy Spark 1.0 for over 7 years and I think it's a quite slow but nice and reliable car. Only the dampers and the control unit for immobilizer have broken down yet.
