The wonderful Leanne Brown on vocals. I had such a crush on her when this song was doing the rounds in the summer of 2000, turns out she's the same age as me :)
Honestly, whenever I've watched and listened to this version of Flowers by The House and Garage Orchestra, I'm not ashamed to say it leaves me nostalgic and in tears. Flowers was easily one of my favourite 3 Garage tunes of all time and the great memories this song and the many other memorable Garage tunes brought into the lives of so many of us, is something those of the current generation can't and may never comprehend. In my book, the mid 90s to early 2000s heralded the greatest genre of music in this country in the last half century - UK Garage - and boy, oh boy was it fun!! Those were the days you could have a proper Friday and Saturday night out in a club, soaking up Garage tune after tune and then grabbing yourself a greasy doner or shish kebab to tuck into at the back of a cab at 3am, before stumbling your way home. This was the norm back in the day after a heavy night out in Croydon - Blue Orchid, Pals, Yates, Reflex Bar, Granaries, Black Sheep, Joe Bananas................ And the beauty of it all was that there were hardly any fights or acts that ended in any fatality. Hell, you could even flirt with a lady on the dancefloor and her watching boyfriend wouldn't come threatening or attacking you. We all went out to enjoy a good night out and crikey, we all damn well did. Is the night club scene still active in London these days by the way? Judging by what the youth today indulge themselves in, I'm at a loss.
I love this! In 2020, I just broke up with a boyfriend, then someone came along. I feel his positive sunny vibe and this song fits my situation with him!
Not sure if you posted this as a joke or not. This is a track called ‘Flowers’ sung by a group called Sweet Female Attitude. The lady singing was one of the original group members. It came out back in 2000 and was one of many tracks that made up part of the UK Garage genre of music....and as you can see from the comments it’s still well loved. 🙂👍
Looking forward to the SUGABABES version in September on DJ Spoony's Garage Classical Album. That's gonna be FYAHHH!!! EDIT: Now releasing on 18th October 2019... pre-order NOW!
Nice rendition i like the strings coming in with the OG melody but the vocals sound a bit digi synthetic , was autotune being used realtime here or just a strange EQ?
She's well into her 40s now, what do you expect? How many of us still look the same as we did when we were 19? (The age Leanne Brown was when 'Flowers' topped the charts in the summer of 2000.)
If I COULD GIVE THIS A MILLION THUMBS UP I would!!!
That gymnopedie no.1 influence is siiiiick
Works perfectly.....
Its so good
its not influence, it's a sample my g
It's not a sample. It's just embellishment on Sweet Female Attitude, who originally used the same chord progression.
Literally so crazy
Thank you guys for this song you don’t even KNOW man 🙏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🤫❤️
The Singers are spot on (nice work guys), and the collective sound is so good. Great rendition.
That's leanne brown the original artist, it's her rendition ❤

😍
Hello. So you have London event??
Is this the original singer
Yes - she's lost a bit of weight, but sounds much the same as she did 23 years ago.
Nice rendition i like the strings coming in with the OG melody but the vocals sound a bit digi synthetic , was autotune being used realtime here or just a strange EQ?
Satie would be proud
The stare are 3:33
play in .75 for something groovy
if i bring you flowers, you know its bad news for you
