  • Flowers Cotton Shop
    Flowers Cotton, Giza Governorate, Egypt.
A government shop with organic cotton and natural dyes.
Holy Mass in a small chapel which had a picture of "Blessed Elizabeth Vendramini (1790-1860) Foundress of the Franciscan Elizabethin Sisters".
    Egyptian Scribe Papyrus
Our last shopping stop of the day was at a spice shop (with papyrus in the back). We saw the same Frankincense resin gum that we bought in Taba, Egypt.
During the drive through the city, our guide explained how many buildings look unfinished on the outside, but he said they were actually fully done and occupied on the inside, and in fact, very expensive. He said they leave it looking unfinished on the outside to avoid being taxed as a completely finished building.
