Make the game more fun by putting mario Vs boo the race game from super mario bros deluxe isn't this fan game a remake of super super mario bros deluxe
Agreed. I also truly love those voice samples when playing the Advance versions. I don't want to hear them in any other version, that would drive me nuts, but if I'm playing an Advance port I don't want no hacks taking the voices out
Just one thing: the Toads turned into stone is actually supposed to be them being turned into the blocks and trees that populate the stages. Literally.
Actually, ya can see that after ya beat the level, you unlock a pipe. And when ya go into it, ya can see that the world thumbnail has three pipes, before Mario automatically exits it. That means that the skip might still be there, it's just not possible right now because this is a one-world demo.
I always considered Super Mario Bros Deluxe from Game Boy Color as the SMB1 of the SMB Advance game family, but I'm so glad that this was finally done as a rom hack at least. 👌
This is one of those games I could see being a real thing but actually isn’t, the intro being based off the instruction manual is very neat and well done
I really wish this was a real game back in the day! I suppose they skipped SMB1 since SMBDX came out on the GBC prior. This is well done, The bitcrushed audio is pretty accurate to the real deal!
I remember forever ago someone was working on a SMA5, except it ran on actual GBA hardware. Always envisioned this one replacing the bonus remake of Mario Bros with one of Wrecking Crew for some reason.
I'm making a Super Mario Land 2 remake actually. It is inspired by the GBA remakes but in widescreen and some more visual enhancements. Plus a new side mode/prequel mode. Its still in the early stages, but if you're interested, check my gamejolt page out, its called Super Mario Land 2 + Wario's Conquest and I post weekly news about what Im working on :P
Super Mario Advance 6 = Super Mario Land Super Mario Advance 7 = Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins Super Mario Advance 8 = Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3
This absolutely made my day, thank you so much for working on this! Parts I absolutely loved: - The main game intro - The post-Bowser cutscene - The art direction and core gameplay loop Some tips: Even though it might not be your original intention, please consider making it a blend of BS Super Mario Collection Vol. 1/4 and Super Mario Deluxe. This includes: - Map should be a blend of SM Deluxe (GBC) for the terrain, and BS Super Mario Collection Vol 1/4 for the decorations and actual skybox. - Please add all gameplay/bugfix enhancements from Deluxe for SMB1 ("Original 1985") like water/lava animations and extra sound effects. - Deluxe GBC already has its version of Advance Coins, as a "Challenge" mode that's SMB1 with each level hiding 5 red coins. You can enable those features by default and make getting all red coins an objective to unlock level 1-5. - Level X-5 would be "You VS. Boo", there are eight of them in Deluxe GBC. Each one can be cleared three times with increasingly hard Boo colors until you finish those bonus levels in all of the 8 worlds. Then you unlock "SMB2j" as an alternate dark world. - After clearing SMB1 once, Peach's Castle is unlocked. It has a gallery similar to the e-Reader castle in SMB4, that's where the artwork from Deluxe GBC would be shown. (There's around 28 pieces of artwork from the original, they can be extended or changed in some way) - During that post-game, Magikoopa will run amok on the overworld. Every time, he'll enter one of the 32 main levels of SMB1 and turn it into a hard mode version. During that time, some changes would happen: level skybox palette will turn funky, SMB1 NES postgame enemy replacements will happen, Lakitu projectiles will have their prototype physics, but also the score-related changes in Deluxe GBC Challenge mode (collecting all coins giving a perfect bonus, a lot of scoring changes, no endless 1-up trick, etc) will be in effect, and the Yoshi egg invisible block can only be collected when the level is in that state. After you clear that level, you'll seal that dark energy in a special ! Block, on further revisits of that level it will be back to normal mode but the special ! block will spawn at the start and you can turn the level into hard mode at will (like the coin challenge levels for the white toad house secret in SMB3) - Collecting each Yoshi egg will either unlock an original level 1-6 or an artwork for the gallery (from SMB Deluxe GBC) - There's a mystery purple Toad House at SMB1-W8 that has some circular gauge that gets slowly refilled depending on the cumulative high scores for all of the 8 worlds' levels. High scores per level information only appear in post game. If it's fully refilled, then it opens a gate in SMB2j that blocks the path to worlds A to D in SMB2j. - SMB2j needs to have its original level layouts from the Famicom version for maximum cruelty impact. - SMB2j needs to have some gate after 8-4 that only gets unlocked after fulfilling requirements from the high score system in SMB1 Deluxe. - Overworld maps for SMB1-W1 would have extra spots for Peach's Castle (only visible in post-game), e-World level (visible from game start, leads to separate World for e-Reader levels, may have things like Super Mario Special (Hudson version) levels or custom new content like that), and a gate that goes back and forth between SMB1 and SMB2j. - SMB1-W8 map has an extra path that shows the mystery purple Toad House that tracks the SMB1 level high scores, and another convenient gate between SMB1 and SMB2j. When going to that same place in SMB2j, there's a drawbridge on the far right of the screen to a partially offscreen island just after the abyss, and that bridge is only partially extended. When it's fully extended, it's possible to reach the other side and go to level A. - World 9 in SMB2j should be treated as a special event and not actually reachable by any overworld. Could be some timezone gate opening when a winged blue Yoshi egg hatches that happens just after finishing SMB2j 8-4. You'd receive a blue Yoshi egg just before starting SMB2j from a Toad (who'll probably explain to you that you should save green Yoshi eggs too from Magikoopa AND bring that Blue Yoshi egg to safety in SMB2j 8-4) You'll have to complete 9-1 to 9-4 in one go, but after that the blue Yoshi appears in 9-4 and gives a 1/3 overall refill to that gauge for unlocking worlds A to D. - The warp zones will be cannons like in NSMB, that will show a short animation in the overworld. If you have a blue egg, you'll lose it there and then. Toad in the Purple Toad House will then rescue it and have you start over from the beginning of SMB2j if you want to fetch the blue Yoshi from SMB2j 1-1 (will be a collectible item at the very start of 1-1). - Overworlds in SMB1 will be linear progression except when it's post-game. SMB2j will always be linear until World 9 is finished or the bridge to World A is opened. - The Princess Peach in SMB1j level D-4 should be the one dressed in Japanese attire from the All Night Nippon version - Ereader levels may include Advance coins, and when played well they could unlock stores or places that sell or provide e-Cards that apply to the main game. These may include cards that restore original difficulty vs SMB3 international difficulty, easier level layouts (the later releases like SMAS and SMB Deluxe GBC removed/added blocks to terrain to make SMB1 and SMB2j easier: might make those appear + make the hidden 1-up blocks always appear by default rather than requiring a coin requirement like in the NES originals), a secondary item box usable with the Select button like in SMW, SMB2u veggies everywhere, force the SMB vs level layouts in SMB1, and other nice things. Could be in their own submenu. They would apply to SMB1 and SMB2j.
This looks great! I look forward to the final release! I like the addition of the Ace Coins to add extra incentive to explore the levels! It reminds me of the fun Red Coin Challenge of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe!
This game is super cool in that it both does and doesn't make sense in context SMA5 eventually became New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, so right off the bat this is different, but also SMB1 is super basic even in comparison to 2 and 3, so an Advance remake wouldn't be much, especially since Deluxe existed and GBC games were still sold well into the GBA's life since they were backwards compatible. And it also makes sense, as the GBA was still supported even 2 years after the DS launched. By that point GBC games were off shelves, and the DS era was in full swing. Having a smaller game like this as a budget release would have made sense.
Remember that GBA line of NES games? Mario 1 was one of them. They also had the original Metroid one, which didn't make a ton of sense since you could just beat Metroid Zero Mission and unlock it there.
this is awesome but one small critique would be to make it more accurate to the Mario Advance series/releases as in colouring and sprites. I’m super nostalgic for Advance 1 and 2 even though the colours are washed out (and that was to give the game easier visibility due to being on a non backlit GBA) but I grew up with both of those games and I love their differences from their original release and the All Stars SNES port
This is really interesting. I guess in theory if there was a Super Mario advance 5 they probably would have picked the Super Mario Bros in the Super Mario All-Stars graphics. That said I don't believe the title would look identical to Super Mario Bros Deluxe without the deluxe in there. This makes me wonder if it's possible that Super Mario Bros Deluxe on the Game Boy Color may have been a precursor to the Super Mario Advance games. Anyways I think this is still really cool and honestly if I only criticism really is what the title looks like did the person who made this did a really fantastic job
Okay you know what? Yeah, I never thought about it until JUST now, but it is weird how Nintendo never made this officially back in the day. Just kind of a perfect idea left on the table, tbh.
I never understood why every Super Mario Advance game had to have Mario Bros. as the second game. like we all needed 4 copies of the same secondary game
This game looks awesome, like an actual SM Advance series, can't wait for the final product to be fully realize. PS: Imagine this game in .gba so it could be played in actual hardware, dreaming is fair.
A Mario game on GBA without the Mario. Bros Link Cable minigame??? Right into the garbage it goes! Nah seriously though this is insane, really really really impressive fangame. I’d love to check this out on original hardware
The blinking of the star makes me insane, was that in the originals? But looks good otherwise. I can't play it on an emulator handheld I guess because it's a fangame and not a hack..
Everything is nice, but there is something that doesn't fit me and that is, if the E-world exists, then how will we scan the E-reader cards since this is a fan game?
From what i heard, you have to finish the other fangame to unlock the E-World, the fangame in question is "Super Mario Bros. Wonder for Classic Players"
Thank you so much for playing my fan game!
This is really cool!
Great job Nimaginendogames....love it❤️
I’d buy this if it was on a cartridge

The way that the game's plot from the manual was turned into an intro had me genuinely shook omg
But it is accurate, he only turned them i to stone! Where are my horse hair plants! :D
Mario says "Just what I needed" when getting a mushroom
That's the real quality premium Mario Advance experience right here
Literally.
A clever idea turning the secret skip pipes into simply unlocking bonus original levels so it forces players to play through the entire game.
Actually, ya can see that after ya beat the level, you unlock a pipe. And when ya go into it, ya can see that the world thumbnail has three pipes, before Mario automatically exits it.
That means that the skip might still be there, it's just not possible right now because this is a one-world demo.

8:00 World 1-5?!

Still wildly impressive regardless
Same. Oh well!
@@andyfritter True. It is a very impressive work nonetheless!
