i come from your dowels for arrows video, I was just wondering if I could use wooden dowels as crossbow bolts? ive been working on a weird homemade crossbow and was just curious if you think it would be safer or any better compared to using dowels for bows.

I've used 5/16th dowels to make crossbow bolts for a hand crossbow (it's the witcher crossbow build on my channel if you want to see how I made them) and I had no worries. Crossbow bolts are a lot shorter and therefor a lot stiffer at the same diameter. Plus if you're worried just put your crossbow in a vice and pull the trigger with a string to make sure nothings going to explode beforehand.
